Patriots center lost for the rest of the season

November 15, 2005

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Patriots center Dan Koppen is out for the season after injuring his shoulder against Miami.

Koppen has started 40 games for New England since being selected in the fifth round of the 2003 draft. The former Boston College player took over the starting job in the second game of his rookie season.

The Patriots also put defensive back Randall Gay on injured reserve with an ankle injury, further hobbling the team's injury-riddled defense.

In other moves, the team signed free-agent cornerback Artrell Hawkins and free-agent offensive lineman Gene Mruczkowski, who has been with the team off and on during the last three seasons and can play guard or center.

Oh, I can just see the locker room tomorrow. There's Corey Dillon, sitting at his locker, lacing up his shoes.

"Hey, Corey, buddy, how ya doing? Long time no see."

Dillon looks up, see Artrell, does a double take.

"What the f**k are you doing here?"

"Just got signed, baby, I'm a Patriot like you now."

Dillon stares, jaw hanging down for a moment, then stands up, rips off his jersey and pads, throws them into the middle of the locker room and stalks out...

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm really hoping the Bengals take advantage of their opportunity this year. Not only do they have an easy schedule (thanks to playing the NFC North and the down years of Baltimore and Cleveland), but they have been relatively injury-free so far. I know that losing Williams is a big thing, but look at how healthy the Bengals have been this year compared to last year (and compared to so many other teams in the NFL this year). We really need to get over the hump this year (I'm only talking about making the playoffs - not winning the Super Bowl).
