HoosierCat
Clicked on this for the story about their center...then lost it reading the last couple lines...Patriots center lost for the rest of the seasonNovember 15, 2005FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Patriots center Dan Koppen is out for the season after injuring his shoulder against Miami.Koppen has started 40 games for New England since being selected in the fifth round of the 2003 draft. The former Boston College player took over the starting job in the second game of his rookie season. The Patriots also put defensive back Randall Gay on injured reserve with an ankle injury, further hobbling the team's injury-riddled defense. In other moves, the team signed free-agent cornerback Artrell Hawkins and free-agent offensive lineman Gene Mruczkowski, who has been with the team off and on during the last three seasons and can play guard or center.Oh, I can just see the locker room tomorrow. There's Corey Dillon, sitting at his locker, lacing up his shoes."Hey, Corey, buddy, how ya doing? Long time no see."Dillon looks up, see Artrell, does a double take."What the f**k are you doing here?""Just got signed, baby, I'm a Patriot like you now."Dillon stares, jaw hanging down for a moment, then stands up, rips off his jersey and pads, throws them into the middle of the locker room and stalks out... Stripes
Wow, I had forgotten all about old Artrell. The Patriots must really be having some big time issues to have brought him into the mold. I bet he finishes the season with eight interceptions... bengalindian
Artrell "Freakishly Deep Voice" Hawkins? He's a top-notch CB! I bet he's the only one that can cover Chad!
Columbusbengal
I'm really hoping the Bengals take advantage of their opportunity this year. Not only do they have an easy schedule (thanks to playing the NFC North and the down years of Baltimore and Cleveland), but they have been relatively injury-free so far. I know that losing Williams is a big thing, but look at how healthy the Bengals have been this year compared to last year (and compared to so many other teams in the NFL this year). We really need to get over the hump this year (I'm only talking about making the playoffs - not winning the Super Bowl).
turningpoint
reading this is the reason why i wouldn;t mind being the #5 team we'd play the division winner with the worst record, and that would be the patriots.
HoosierCat
3rd and Artrell is now strong safety Artrell...because "a monkey could play cornerback." http://ledger.southofboston.com/articles/2...ts/sports01.txtShoot, too bad Artrell wasn't a monkey because we could have used a corner...
