bengalskyspy Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 Just wondering. He might provide some spark at LB and some speed that Simmons seems to have lost. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 As of right now I think he's still on PUP, but suppossed to be put on the 53 man roster this week. Probably won't be activated for the Ravens game though Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 Yep, there's an open roster spot, which he will probably fill on Monday. Apparently he isn't ready to play yet either. Webster is someone who may be released, or more likely put on the year-ending Pup. Quote

BengalByTheBay Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Just wondering. He might provide some spark at LB and some speed that Simmons seems to have lost.BTW -- Simmons had a nice game against the Ravens, both in run support and pass protection. I don't disagree that he's not the player he used to be, but bashing him has become a sport of its own here. For those who think we've got some better answer just waiting in the wings, give the guy credit when he gets it done. 6 solo T, 2 Assists, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble.http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20051106_CIN@BAL Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Just wondering. He might provide some spark at LB and some speed that Simmons seems to have lost. Please pay attention to the game before you start making stupid comments. You do realize that Simmons was the #2 solo tackler against the Ravens this weekend, and the #1 when you include assists. He had a sack and a forced fumble. He did have a bad game against Green Bay, I'll give you that.BUT, against Pittsburgh, once again he was #2 in tackles, against the titans, he was #4 with another forced fumble. But then again, against the Titans, Deltha O'Neal led in tackles and KK (who you probably STILL think sucks) was #2.Simmons is underated, even by his home fans. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I disagree. Simmons is good, but nothing spectacular. As I said earlier in another thread As Yoda would say "One game a season does not make"As young as our defense is, he should be putting up better numbersIs he a solid LB? Yes, I think soHas he lived up to expectations? No, he was still a first round pickAs the defens continues to try and get faster I believe he will be phased out. Possibly next year, but more liekly after two Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I disagree. Simmons is good, but nothing spectacular. As I said earlier in another threadWho said he was "spectacular" and what are you disagreeing with? He is what he is -- the most consistent of our linebackers. He has had more solid games this season than anyone else in the second line, including everybody's darling Odell. I like Odell too, but he's still getting juked consistently and running a little too fast out of position. Besides, the point is who goes in his spot? You move Landon there and start Pollack(?) -- uhhh no. You start Miller somewhere -- uhhhhh no. So who exactly is the spectacular replacement? Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 UUhhh, whose post did I follow, Not like it's a huge thread to figure out who 's post I'm commenting on. Secondly, Landon Johnson's NATURAL position IS Simmons spot, so that is exactly who I have replacing him. And they already were starting Pollack! He's been out with an injury but started the last two games before thatIt's not really that hard to find the replacementAnd that's all he is, solid, and I think he dissappears a lot.You might want to know more about the team before you start throwing out "uuhhh No" like your the God of all Bengals knowledge or something Quote

I did see solid. Pollack's starts were in name only -- they rotated very heavily at that spot. If they believed Landon was better at Simmons' spot wouldn't they have started or rotated him there? Landon has bee pretty shakey this season -- worse than last year to this point. Don't you think if Pollack could hold down the SS they would move Landon to his "NATURAL" position. But, dude, throttle back ... is it everybody's period around here? Chill out. If I want to get into a slapfight, I'll do it over something more important than this. For god sake, I'm not calling you names or anything. You want to YELL at somebody, do it by yourself. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 I apologize. As a mod, I;m really get sick of when someone posts something another member disagrees about they go on a rant about how stupid they are and s**t like that. You just happened to be the brunt of my frustration(BTW, you handled it well) Quote
