pabloxu Posted October 31, 2005 Author Report Posted October 31, 2005 It was all over CBS and ESPN radio when I was driving home late last night. Rome hit it hard in the open. No mention on either of those shows I heard about 1 play from the game. The story I got was that there was a bet made. I got things second hand of course. Obviously you know than I, but I would go so far as to say it was pretty reliable. They must have have been intentionally misinformed. When we first heard it was him, we heard it was a bet. When we later talked to the actual people not only yesterday and today - there was no bet and they were just as suprised as we all were that it was him. This thing will and should die down in the next couple days and then we worry about the next couple weeks.PJE Quote
Whur CHad At? Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Hey it was a huge NEWS UPDATES on ESPN. Quote
Jet23 Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 OK no problem-guess I read it wrong. We deal with that s**t all the time ya know? Anyways I apologize for pouncing.I guess you would know all about pouncing, given the James Brooks thing. Now that cat could pounce through a hole. And he was one tough s.o.b. Do you remember the MNF game against Houston when he smoked the dude and looked back on his way to the endzone and game dude the #1 sign? Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 We as Cincy fans and some of us Cincy citizens can laugh this off, but nationally we will be generalized for this. My personal opinion, one of the main reasons I hate Cleveland is because of their obnoxoius fans. I hate Philly cause of their fan's reps. I hate UK cause of the way UK fans mostly act(not trying to offend you, Billy, Ox, and whoever is a UK fan) With all of these recent events happening, I don't want Cincy to get the same stigmaBTW, how the hell does the guy plead not guilty? I've never met the guy so in general terms I won't say he's a moron, but that was one pretty dumb thing to do Quote
jamesbrooks21 Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 If he is your friend maybe you can explain to him how he disrespected the game today, made fools of the city and the people who live(d) there. You can go further to explain how he re-inforces the stero-type that Cincy is a low-class bunch of hicks who are one paycheck removed from moving back to Parkersburgh, WV and their old trailer.First of all, what the hell do you have against Parkersburg? My home town and I don't appreciate you making it sound like a s**t hole. Also, I'm going to assume that you aren't The Fan's daddy, so stop lecturing like you are. Some people just ALWAYS need something to bitch about. Get a life!Even though Im from NY, I could add to this. Parkersburg is a nice area, two years in a row, my HS baseball team took a spring training trip down to WV and we played teams around there. The People are very hospitable, courtious and it's not at all like those stereotypical trailer parks, It is a very beatuiful state. Thanks for the kind words.OK no problem-guess I read it wrong. JB was my muthaf**ka. Should have gave him the ball more in Super Bowl XXIII. Quote

I live in Arizona, and EVERY PERSON I TALKED TO THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY AS HELL!! Nobody is even comparing it to anything close to the beer bottle barrage that happened in Cleveland. In short...IT WASN'T THAT BIG A DEAL. Quote

He could state he wasn't drunk. That what he did did not constitute tresspassing. That he was not resisting arrest, just running with the ball. All kinds of legal things. Should he plead guilty if they charged him assault? Not defending him, just that he may not be considered guilty of the charges against him. Not really moronic. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 US as "regular" people know this, Billy. It's the God fearing. FCC toting, Dubya supporters that seem to make up the entire "important decision making" world Quote

Oh and geeezus I really dont think the world needs another UK fan, Louisville could use a few more though. Quote
bengalindian Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Ok, so I was just talking to one of my "friends" that is a Steelers fan, and she was like, "Yeah, you guys are as bad as Cleveland because you have fans that run on the field". I put her in her place. Quote

I put her in her place.Well I hope you did....take her aside and tell her how we want a good image of our fans and this in no way reflects how the rest of us act... Then bitchslap for bringing it up.... Quote
Gregory Gall Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 Didn't read the whole thread but this Pablo guy just won't give it up. Quote
PMThor Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 I know Pablo, and I trust him when he gives out information, it is good.Onto the "bashing Cincinnati fans" part of this thread. I don't understand where anyone gets that this is an exclusive Cincinnati thing. This kind of thing happens everywhere where sports are played. There are crazy people who do stupid things everywhere. This is not just Cincy. Look throughout history, it happens in every sport, from golf to auto racing to football. To generalize that Cincy fans are getting a black eye out of this is seeing a very narrow, short sighted view of sports history. Quote

joshh967 Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 willy has eery right to be pissed off...now torching up anyone else but the drunkin idiot who ran on the field is wrong. But it seriously makes us look bad as fans to support it (no matter how hilarious). another reason why i dont support the sale of alcholic beverages at any venues, and the way security lets drunkin tailgaters in. MacD BengalFan Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 All I could do is hit my head on the bar at the establishment I was at in disbelief and say "not in Cincy". He has brought some unwanted attention to the city that places like Cleveland, New York and Philly enjoy. While I have not seen the hit the security guard placed on him, I feel he deserved it. Now I know I am going to catch some flack for this next comment, but don't blame alcohol. Blame him! He is responsible for his actions, not the beer he drank. He decided to jump onto the field, not the alcohol. If he can't be responsible with drinking alcohol, then he should not be drinking it. It is people like him that give a bad name to the thousands of other responsible people who enjoy a few drinks before or during the game and don't jump onto the playing field. It is people like him that have caused alcohol sales to be ceased after the 3rd quarter. It is people like him that cause the "No Tailgating" rule. Not the alcohol. Quote
jrandom42 Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 I remember the Dolphins-Colts game from several years ago, where a fan ran onto the field, grabbed the ball and got clotheslined and tackled by Mike Curtis. Guy attempted to sue the NFL and Curtis for his injuries. Curtis simply responded, "You attempt to run by me with the ball, it's my job to plant you into the turf. It's your own fault if you aren't wearing the right protective gear". Guy lost his suit and got countersued by the Dolphins and lost. Quote
