The Big Orange Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 If we only beat teams with a winning record...we go (3 left, gives us a record of 11-5)If we only go .500 the rest of the way...we go (gives us 10-6 record)If we only win our home games...we go (gives us a 10-6 record)If we split the rest of our division games and lose vs. teams with a winning record...we go (gives us a 10-6 record)If we don't improve any and just continue to play as well as we have, we go...we could be as good as 13-3 but no worse than 10-6We are in...we only needed a fast start...we got that...we are in Quote

Stripes Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Considering the talent level of this team, I think many people expected more than just a playoff appearance. If we make it and end this damned drought for good, then fair enough. Still, if we don't actually win a playoff game, then the critics will just change the "haven't been to the playoffs in 15 years" tag to "haven't won a playoff game in 16 years." Quote
TJJackson Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 we may be in, certainly, but right now, all that means is that some other team will hand us our backside in round 1 and out we'll go after that, if we don't start playing tougher and dealing with adversity better Quote
bengalindian Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Definitely need to fix the run defense, but yes, I think they can still make the playoffs.Atleast now I get to be a Steelers fan for Halloween. Quote
CBin2k7 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 I think our Offense is very talented. But I think our D is lacking one major thing, and that is physicality. That is not a playoff Defense. I believe we will get in, but that we won't survive playing soft D. Quote
AMC Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 you always comfort me when things are bad. this brightened a very bad day.I agree...I now feel all warm and fuzzy!I will look toward next week. That will be half way...if they win they are 6-2...and after that they will have to go 4-4 to get to 10-6....that looks very likely...if they follow the trend of finishing strong we are in. just don't make a struggling Ahman Green look like Walter "freakin'" Payton!!!!!!!!!! walzav29 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 I don't just want to get into the playoffs. I want the Bengals to win the Super Bowl. As miserable as yesterday felt. It will feel 100 times worse to watch Dillon, LT, Edge, or Parker run for 200 yards against them in the playoffs. Godddddddddddddddddddddddddd! Quote
CBin2k7 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 If the Pack runs against us, then you know we got serious problems. Ahman Green left on a stretcher yesterday, and they are starting Tony Fisher. Their O-line is not very good either. If we can't stop the run next week, then we don't deserve to make the playoffs. The Big Orange Posted October 24, 2005 Author Report Posted October 24, 2005 I looked at the schedule of the Steelers, and their schedule looks easier than ours...they play Ravens and Browns twice and the NFC North teams and the Colts (at Indy). If we both lose to the Colts and say we lose to the Chiefs and we beat them away...we will both be 12-4. At that point we would both be 5-1 in our division and all 4 losses come in the AFC...I'm not sure who would be AFCN Division champs at that point. We would have both lost to each other, the Colts, and the Jags. Our other loss coming to the Chiefs and there's to the Pats (both AFC). I know there are a ton of "if's" between now and then but I'd like to have this settled in my mind since Caleb Miller is starting to look very attractive to me right now. Quote

Everything seems to be arranged nicely for us to comeback nicely from the Steelers game, but you never know what to expect with Favre under center. Quote

USMC203 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 We go to first round maybe second. Our team is not ready for the big one yet, If we inprove our D line in FA we could do it next year, as long as we can not stop the run this is the way we are going to be. Right now I think Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder with the help Snoop Dog could run our D line!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Kirkendall Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Man, the Packers are in shambles. So were the Texans... six points... Quote
AMC Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Worst thing we could do is think Baltimore is going to be an easy win in Baltimore...that has "upset" all over it...I wouldn't be surprised if Balt is favored in that game....I thik we crush GB, but we have a way of making unknowns into superstars....Remember a QB jettisoned by ATL came in the game against the Bengals after Don Majkowski got hurt???? The Bengals might be solely responsible for starting Brett Favre's HOF career on that day..... Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Man, for an optimistic thread at the start, this one sure turned bleak. I have no problem with fans being upset -- we got worked hard this weekend. Losses should hurt and this one does. Losing Madieu also hurts, but I think that he was going to have to get the surgery at some point during the season anyway. I don't think you can really cover anybody with that injury because you have to be able to lift your arms. Shows us how tough Landon was last year playing with that brace. Anyway, back to the point, after all is said and done how can anybody be upset if we make the playoffs? Yeah, we could go one and out, we could also scare the crap out of whoever matches up with us. Who the heck knows. There's a lot of season left. Wasn't the Steelers QB hurt last week -- that stuff happens all the time in the NFL. We do, however, have to take care of business. That starts with doing what we need to do to get into the playoffs. Anybody who's disappointed in making the playoffs .... I don't get that. Quote
