buck3y3d
THE BEST LB on this team is BRIAN SIMMONS, why he was drafted #18 in the draft.I'm still wondering how people think he has lost a half of a step, he looks like the same guy we drafted 7 years ago. he may not be a flashy dominate LB that we all want out of him, but he's always there making a tackle or forcing a turnover. In the right spot at the right time. Probalby our smartest defender, besides Tory james.Everything I've seen him do this season has been good, he hasn't made a mistake as of yet.Put in a guy whose never played LB for a 7 year veteran who is a consummate pro.... Simmons has definately lost a step. I saw this in training camp, saw it last week, and have essentially been amazed at how bad he looks all year long. He is overpersuing every run, losing contain, and missing tackles. You only notice the good plays he makes because you never see a detailed analysis of each play, but if you watch the taped games he is out of control. I do not want him to sit because, like you said, we are in a playoff race. Pollack hasn't really proven anything yet, where Simmons at least understands the scheme. Eventually, Simmons will be gone. I will always like Simmons, and root for him, but he is not the best lb for the job.
HoosierCat
He'll be Palmerised and will be the eventual replacement for Simmons -- Marvin just doesn't know it yet. Interesting. So you see Pollack as out starting weak side backer, and not Landon? Who do we put at SSLB?(bets the 3-4 is involved here somehow )C'mon, it'd work. All four LBers. Need a nose guard? We could grab that one fat Steelers fan chick puking after drinking some Stiller Mill beer after realizing Big Ben was wanting some suga'. S**t, all that chick would have to do is stand up and say "I love you" and the whole o-line would run away! Talk about collapsing the pocket!Seriously, tho, we just don't have the NT. Clemons and Robinson might -- might -- be adequate as 3-4 ends but we have no one to stuff in the middle.Seaking of big men, did ya check out Corey Simon in the game last night? From Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man to slim 'n' trim in six weeks. I think I see a future diet industry guru...heir to Richard Simmons?

Clemons and Robinson might -- might -- be adequate as 3-4 ends but we have no one to stuff in the middle.Yea, I know. One day though, one day. We just have so much more talent (well, perhaps potential is the better word) at linebacker than on the D-Line. Nothing against my boys in the trenches, but with our Linebackers being so "athletic" it seems to me we need to get Gilbert Brown cholestoral filled, cheeseburger eatin during practice, fatties to prevent the opposing o-line to getting to our "athletic" linebackers. Now, that would be sweet.hey i'm the heir to richard simmons

OrangeStripes
Pollack said that when hes on the field, hes got to be the best in every situation which he'll live up to his expectations just give him some time. Hes watchin the vids of all the qbs and studying what there doing which most linebackers do
Jet23
Pollack started Sunday against the Titans? How did I miss that? You have to think there has to be some progress there for ML to start him. That article pointed out that Duane Clemons suggested that Pollack watch film of Derrick Thomas. Good move there. He is the same type of player and Thomas may have been the greatest pure pash rusher ever. The holdout still burns me, but Pollack will be fine. Did I mention that the holdout still burns me? HoosierCat
http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/u.../19pollack.htmlThis caught my eye for some reason…"It's tough sitting on the sidelines, just praying they will call the defense that I'm in on," Pollack said. Now all I can think of is Pollack coming out, jogging over to the bench, kneeling down, and saying…Now I sit down on the bench.I pray the Lord call my defense. If the game should end before I play. Then again next week the Lord I'll pray.Hey Big O, maybe you could put in a good word for the guy…
HoosierCat
Ludwig piece on Pollack & Odell in the DDN today...nothing new really, but Chuck seems to feel that Pollack will see more time at LB vs. the Steelers as part of the run D. This quote from Marvin about Pollack did catch my eye..."He's probably about where he would have been if we had started the season last week," Lewis said. "That's about the time that he's made up.Well. So much for the ""holdout" excuse. I hope Marvin's right. Couldn't ask for a better week for Pollack to break out.
