Bengals Fan Beaten in Jacksonville Garage

Some fan bases, in my opinion, only see their 'team' as a reason to get drunk and abuse the other fans.

I would say rather that some fans only see their team as a reason to get drunk and abuse other fans (or, as the Bills example points out, their own fellow fans if no one else is available). As for Steelers fans, I've never been to a game in Pitt, but the ones I've both known and talked with on the net have been very knowledgeable. In fact, the hardest-core football fan I've ever met was a Steeler fan; his den was basically a shrine to Jack Lambert. :D I was at a convention once (this goes back about five or six years) where Jerome Bettis was signing autographs, so I stood in line to get one for him. Bettis asked my name when I got up there so he could personalize the autograph; I told him that it was for a friend. While he was signing it he asked me what team I was a fan of, and I said Bengals. He just grinned at me as he handed over the pic and said, "you poor soul."

HEY DUUS,

Having lived in Steeler country for several years, I have a totally different take on Myron Cope. He was the best color man ever. He and Jack Fleming made the best duo in local football commentary. The bengals radio tandem is very weak. They nearly make Steve Taskar sound good.

On point though.....beer sales should be prohibited after halftime. And I'm having a hard time believing the thugs were unprovoked. You never know how an F U will be taken.

Holy Cow! I could never agree with someone suggesting Cope being the 'best color man ever'. Wow! That's is simply the most confusing thing I can imagine hearing from anyone ... unless they were a Steeler fan.

Funny story ... on my first trip to Pittsburgh during football season, I was in the car with a few friends from my college days at Morehead. We were traveling back toward Pittsburgh, and they put the Steeler game on the radio. I'm sitting in the backseat, and found myself confused by what I was hearing. Having been a Bengal fan all my life, and not liking the Browns or Steelers, I was suddenly torn as I heard them giving a 'mentally challenged' kid an opportunity to help in the play calling, etc. I mentioned to this to one of the guys, and said that I might actually have to have some respect for this Steelers after all. Then they realized that I was referring to the primary color guy ... Myrone Cope. Wow! I was astonished! This guy was a real thing that they actually paid to do this? And locals really liked this? Amazing! And the more I heard him over the years, the more convinced I became that he honestly knows very little about the game of football ... he just has these absolutely stupid quips and comments. Ask me ... I want real football game calling and dialogue. I don't mind 'homers' (heck ... that's WHAT I want), but his gibberish is useless for any FOOTBALL fan. Anyway, he's gone now ... thankfully.

Go Bengals!
