walzav29
The Jaguars are starting a rookie offensive tackle. Rich Braham is going to play anyway. I understand that these stupid critics are dieing to see the Bengals fall, so they can be the genius to predict it. These Bengals had 7 sacks last week, are 2nd in the league in scoring defense, and 1st in turnovers. These guys aren't slouches, and I will spend all Monday e-mailing every stupid sportswriter and calling every analyst on Sirius and let them know they are no nothing bastards that grasp at straws. They can get back to kissing the ass's of Farve, Culpepper, the Bills, and the Ravens while the Bengals look to go 6-0. Screw them. Bengals 31 Jags 10. HoosierCat
Actually, what I find amusing about Bengals coverage now is the "wow what a surprise" storyline. Now, true, there were not a lot of pundits pimping the Bengals for the Super Bowl, but there was a general expectation that they would do well, and a fair number of predictions that the bengals would snag an AFC wild card. One of the most common comments was some variant on, "if Cincy was in the NFC they'd be favored to win the championship, too bad they are in the same division as Pitt and Baltimore." I specifically remember SI's Peter King defending his choice of the Ravens as the AFCN champ by saying that he could have just as easily called Pitt or Cincy, but thought they would be three good teams that would beat up on each other and the Ravens were just his guess as to who'd come out on top. There were also several predictors I read who noted Cincy's soft early schedule and thought they had a chance to pile up some wins early. But now we're 4-0 and we're "upstarts" and "surprising,"" and it's "'are they for real?" Well, shoot, you dingbats, you all thought we could go places two months ago, and heaven knows you guys have pimped Marvin plenty over the last two years. Why all the astonishment? DC_Bengals_Fan
Actually, what I find amusing about Bengals coverage now is the "wow what a surprise" storyline. Now, true, there were not a lot of pundits pimping the Bengals for the Super Bowl, but there was a general expectation that they would do well, and a fair number of predictions that the bengals would snag an AFC wild card.In all fairness, the degree with which they won the first three games was surprising. And it's also somewhat surprising when the chic media picks actually pan out - Detroit and Arizona were pimped harded by the media than the Bengals were. Those teams not looking so good now... Stripes
Chris Mortensen looks like a genius to all those outside of Bengaldom right now. He was the only expert (I won't enclose the word expert in quotation marks for this one, he knows his stuff) to recognize what the Bengals and Carson Palmer were doing near the end of last season. He even called us Superbowl darkhorses. The best part is that Bengals fans have expected this to happen. If we were anything less than 4-0 right now, we'd be disappointed. The city is excited about the possibility of destroying The Drought, but is not the least bit shocked to see it happening. Thanks Marvin!
