HairOnFire
I think many of us are overplaying the Jags advantage of playing at home on national TV. In my opinion it's a very winnable game against a team that isn't playing that well right now. And just as important, I think the Bengals players are going to treat this game like the Bronco game from last season. It's going to be a Bengal coming out party. And just as important, I think the Bengals players are going to treat this game like the Bronco game from last season. It's going to be a Bengal coming out party. May I be the first (unless someone else has said the same) to predict that our Bengals win by at least a ten point margin. That is rather bold of me, coming off of my blown prediction of a blowout over the Texans, but I'm sticking to it. The Bengals will be just as fired up about primetime as the Jaguars, and homefield can only be worth so much.Their weaknesses play well into our strengths, and we're not likely to struggle on offense like we did against Houston... Unless we shoot ourselves in the foot over and over until there's nothing left but toenails.
Jet23
Other than the 24-yard grounding brain freeze, I thought Carson was poised under some pretty heavy pressure. If not for the fact that the OL is really banged up, the Jacksonville game would have been a no brainer. A makeshift line is not going to cut it against Jacksonville's DL. BUT, I think Richie will play and the Cats will be fired up. They will feed off of the national stage, kind of like the Denver game last year. And do you know the best part? The game will be broadcast HD baby!
HairOnFire
Other than the 24-yard grounding brain freeze, I thought Carson was poised under some pretty heavy pressure. Agreed. I'm a huge Palmer pimp, but somebody needs to spend a little time going over the rules for intentional grounding with him. He's got too many bad examples on film already. ArmyBengal
I think we will come out of JAX with the win, but it will be close. No more than 10. We should beat Tennessee, but again on the road is never an easy task. I say we put it on P-Burg coming into the Jungle. After losing the games in the 4th quarter last year, I really don't believe they are a better team than us. We lost those games last year and I was OK with that, looking at the disarray our D was in and Carson's first year. This could go on for a few more games, who knows. Right now I'm REALLY enjoying being 4-0 !!! Beat the JAGS !!!WHODEY !!!
Columbusbengal
BUT, I think Richie will play and the Cats will be fired up. They will feed off of the national stage, kind of like the Denver game last year. The problem is that the national stage last year was at Paul Brown Stadium. I think a road game at night will be very difficult because the other team's fans will be going beserk like our fans did last year. I do think Richie will play and that will be almost essential in a noisy road game.
walzav29
This will be the jump off the bandwagon game where the Bengals lose and everyone will say that they are 4-0 because of the competition. I hate the media.
JungleFanatic
Foxsports has a nice statistical breakdown between the Bengals and Jags HERE .We all know that stats aren't the end all be all but looking at this instance its pretty encouraging to me Its gonna be a tough game but we should pull a win out of it,hell who knows we might blow em out, stranger things have happened WHODEY
derekshank
The Bengals will be just as fired up about primetime as the Jaguars, and homefield can only be worth so much.Well, homefield only counts for so much, because the fans aren't playing the game, but they can certainly contribute.Last week in Cincy, the homefield did a lot to hurt the Texans in the beginning of the 4th quarter. The crowd got ridiculously loud, resulting in the wasted use of their last timeout (something they really could have used in the last minute of the game), a false start, and two sacks, at least partly due to the extra energy given to the players by the crowd. This wasn't even a primetime game, and it was against an 0-2 team. I expect the Jags fans to be pretty loud. The Bengals offense is better than the Texans, but with the problems we've already had with false starts, and a rookie center in there, I think homefield will be quite an advantage to them. Palmer will just have to go out there and shut them up with a big game. That is where homefield will mean jack. If our defense can keep their offense from being productive, and we can move the ball with the running game, homefield advantage is lost for them. HoosierCat
Of course, that assumes that the home team's fans actually show up -- and Jax has replaced Cincy as local-broadcast-blackout-central recently. Last I hears, and this was a couple weeks ago so I don't know where it stands right now, the Cincy/Jags game was still 9,000+ tickets short of a sellout. Great chance for all you Florida Bengals fans to go help out the team!

Great chance for all you Florida Bengals fans to go help out the team!Wow... I didn't know that. Florida is a big football state, (kind of like Ohio) so I just assumed they had good crowds there. So I went to their website and found this...Daniel from Jacksonville: As much as the team's play disappointed me, I was equally disappointed by the fans. As soon as the first drops of rain fell, there was a stampede of fans going into the tunnels and Bud Zone to stay dry. Many of our fans are softer than our offensive line. Also, if I have to listen to one more idiot yell, “put Jerrard in,” I swear I'm gonna burst. It's a shame we don't have to take a test before we're allowed to buy season tickets; and people wonder why southerners have the label as being stupid. There was a guy next to me that even said, what a great pass-defense by Fernando Bryant.Vic: When you buy a ticket, you buy the right to cheer, boo, sit in the rain, seek shelter, make stupid remarks and, yes, even blame Fernando Bryant. At this point, the Jaguars have sold enough tickets to avoid a TV blackout for both home games. That's good enough for me.This is just one guys opinion (and you can find similar opinions about the Bengals on this forum). So it sounds like they are selling tickets, but the fans are soft. Let's hope that is truly the case.
HoosierCat
I checked the Fla.Times-Union's Jags archives & the last number I could find (dated Sept 10) was than there were at least 3,000 "non-premium" seats left unsold. And that's after the Jags covered up something like 10,000 seats in the offseason in Alltel to bring the blackout threshold down to around 50k. Their home opener this year didn't sell out until some company bought the last couple hundred tickets and donated them to charity, and the Broncos game didn't sell out until a day or two before last Sunday.& yeah, I agree, it sounds like their fanbase is pretty easy to take out of the game. Here's hoping the Bengals get back to their early-and-often-scoring ways!
bengalboomer7
Although I do worry about the center position, the jags have bigger problems on the oline. Leftwich has been getting creamed and I saw where the jags are considering starting rookie first rounder Alex Barron next week. i like this game because Leftwich will get pressured and at the same time, the guy will try to squeeze one in while taking a shot. That gives our dline and our dbacks chances to make plays. I'm hoping that the debate about whether int's or sacks are better ends this week with a Both vote! HairOnFire
Didn't the Jags fail to sell out the last playoff game they hosted? It's beeen a couple of years so my memory is fuzzy but I seem to recall reading something about how the novelty of having a pro football team had worn off quicker than anyone expected. Hardly matters though. The crowd doesn't play. Just kill the fat kid playing QB.
