Jordan Palmer

Jordan Palmer is a physical clone of his brother, made in some lab in Cali no doubt. He points to the sky just like Carson does after a big throw and he throws the same long ball that makes you watch in awe.

By the time he leaves El Paso, he should be right up there on NFL draft boards -- proly not in the Top 5 but he's definitely got all the physical tools and just needs the experience of reading defenses in game action.

Conference USA is kinda dropped a notch but Jordan and Texas El Paso are worth the watch. Besides Palmer, they got a 240-lb WSLB Thomas Howard who's actually fast enough to cover WRs out of the slot and a junior WR/PR Johnnie Lee Higgins who can take it to the house every time he touches the ball.

I do believe El Paso is in C-USA now that Louisville and Cincinnati moved on. I wouldn't mind watching Palmer gunsling again (or that backer they got cover WRs -- it was the damnedest thing).

Another kid brother QB who looks good is Cody Bramlett in Wyoming. Haven't seen him this year, but watched him do well vs. UCLA in a bowl game last year.

Hey Guys,

I live In Memphis Tn and I got to see Jordan play last weekend and he reminds me of Carson alot, he has a strong arm and is a big guy. The Tigers beat Utep but only because Jordan threw some bad ints but he also threw for 431 yards. So, Do you guys think he has a chance to be a good NFL QB like Carson? It would be pretty cool to have Carson/Jordan and Peyton/Eli starting in the NFL at the same time. Go Bengals! Who Dey!

Jordan certainly doesnt seem to have his brother's abilities at this point..

In a pass happy conference that sees QB's post over 100 ratings as the norm Jordan is barely at 77 and each game he seems to dip farther and farther...

Is he a pro prospect.. Id say a big no to that one.. He's a junior so he's got another year to learn and improve on his game...

If Jordan came out, it'd proly be between him, Charlie Whitehurst and Josh Betts to be the 3rd QB picked behind Leinhart and Jay Cutler. 4th if Vince Young is an early entry. The QB crop ain't exactly kicking this year.

But Jordan would benefit from another year at UTEP. He's got a really good WR in Johnnie Lee Higgins to practice his deep ball with for another year if Higgins don't roll the dice w/ the draft a year early.

And as long as Mike Price don't start up with the cheap hookers again, Palmer's got a good coach to get him ready for the next level.

I watched him one evening and he looked like the anti-Carson. Looked confused and easily rattled. I saw him dump a very nice pass over the d-back for a TD but came back and gave the defense a present and went back to rattled.

Right now, seems extremely raw and green. I wouldnt expect him to leave early because of the weak QB class. It would do himself a great injustice. Let Price teach him the ways of QBing and possibly raise his value for the following draft.

From what I hear, he is an identical specimen to Carson, but hasn't had quite the accuracy or arm. I doubt he will be a first day draft pick kind of guy, but who knows, maybe he'll end up a solid NFL player. I have a feeling it'd be a similar situation to the one between Matt and Tim Hasselbeck, with one of the two dominating the other in pretty much every category of quarterbacking.

Jordan should stay another year with Mike Price because he's got all the tools to go in the first if he gets some more polish.

And he's a dead ringer for Carson, even points up to the sky after a TD like his bro. He should have Johnnie Lee Higgins at WR for another year unless Higgins enters early. Higgins is proly a Day 1 type of speed receiver who makes for an excellent NFL practice target for Jordan.

If you watch that game, check out #40 on defense for UTEP Thomas Howard. He's a weakside backer who is a freak of nature and is projected as a possible 1st rounder this year.

Gradkowski is a smart and quick player who can manage a game well and not make many mistakes. But I'd have to agree, if he's ever going to get a shot a starting on a NFL team, he'll have to work his way up from a Tom Brady draft spot because he don't have the tools to get the vertical game done at the next level. It might have looked like he could have some success doing it after watching him destroy UTEPs secondary but that secondary is proly the worst he's ever faced.

I'd say Grad gets drafted but no early than the 5th round. I just don't see teams coveting him as a starter and no college QB can realistically expect themselves to be considered starting material if they last past Day 1. Breaks can happen though and he may gets his chance because he can dink and dunk and is precise with intermediate timing routes, plus he's mobile and helps himself by also being able to hold on FGs.

Poor Jordan Palmer laid an egg last night and in many respects it was not his fault. The pressure he got from the blitzing Toledo LBs was constant and his receivers dropped several balls when they did manage to get open. Jordan will benefit greatly from another year if he can learn to stop throwing too late, quit staring down receivers, read the defense better, get more velocity on timing throws underneath, and work on keeping the ball higher up when he throws rather than bringing it down to his waist to crank it up. Still, there were a couple long touch passes he threw against front and back coverage where he just laid it in perfectly like his bro has learned to do. Palmer will get a lot better and there will be draft buzz on him next year, like what's happening with Jay Cutler from Vandy this year.

Everyone seems to agree that he'd benefit greatly from another year in college. Palmer himself has said as much. But you're right about how little help he got from his receivers last night. I didn't get to to see the entire game but he threw a perfect moon ball that dropped directly over the helmet, through the arms, and into the freaking belly button of the wideout before falling harmlessly onto the turf.

Carson woiuld have described that pass as a perfect dime.
