VOTE FOR Odell Thurman

there's no way he should be in last!

No doubt, RBrown had 27 carries for 57 yrds & 1 catch for for 4 yrds ... did I miss something ? I know I just woke up but those #'s suck!!

I agree. I think about any of us can rush 27 times for 57 yards. How is he even nominated? Chris Henry might as well be on there for what he did Sunday which is not much less than Ronnie Brown.

Carnell's stats are inflated. He had 26 carries for about 70 yds. On 3rd and 1, with 1:30 to go in the game, Minn. needed a stop to get the ball back so they brought everyone in the box. Carnell broke the first line of defense and ran 70 yds. for a TD. 27 for 140 and 1 TD looks allot better than 26 and 70.

His stats are not inflated.. he sealed the game for the Bucs with that 70 yard run.

Usually when a runner has close to 150 yards rushing he's going to have a long gain or two... 148 is 148 no matter how you slice it.. great game for the rook imo.

Definitely.

Don't play off a 70 yard run like it doesn't count. It was a great run, and it's on the stat sheet. That's how these things work.

You could probably make the argument that he deserves to be #2 on that list, but #1 by that much? Anyone who sees it is going to instantly think... "those damn Bengals homers."

Just call me Homer. I won't mind a bit.

Frankly, if you can argue that he deserves to be #2 then I won't apologize for voting for a performance I watched from beginning to end over another one that I only saw highlites of. And one other point, Thurman was only badly exploited by Dilfer once instead of time and time again...which I had mentioned was one of my concerns prior to the game. Granted, he got burned for a huge play but he quickly made up for it by making a great play of his own.

I was impressed and my vote reflected that.

I don't think the vote is dominated by Bengals homers, at least not simply due to this thread. Odell has over 40 percent of the vote, and there are almost 4,000 total votes. I'd estimate maybe a maximum of 30 people have voted Odell's way because of this thread. His game didn't go unnoticed by those outside of Bengaldom... The interception probably swayed a lot of people.

I voted because of the link on Bengals.com and was completely surprised to see Odell with a commanding lead. Granted, Cadillac probably deserved it, but Odell could definitely justify the 2nd best rookie performance of the week.

I wondered if the other players' team sites had links to vote. They all did. I'm sure that other fan sites have mentioned to do the same for their players, so either:

a) there are more Bengals (and Odell Thurman) fans out there nationwide

B) the Bengal fan base is more loyal and strong than those of the Chiefs, Bucs, Jags, and Dolphins, or

c) The Univ. of Georgia theory is holding water.

I don't mind any of these explanations.

so would you rather have a running back who will get stuffed 90% of the time and break off a big one once in a while or a running back who will actually get more than 3 ypc, which 26 for 70 is less than.

another example of people paying too much attention to statistics...

It's not whether one pays attention to statistics, it's which ones. There's nothing wrong about statistics assuming you understand them and use them correctly. In this case you use statistics yourself to refute him, and I think correctly. Williams didn't do much the rest of the day, and one 70-yard run, which is flukey, doesn't negate that.

Sorry if I bristle at claims that statistics shouldn't be paid any attention; it's simply that without anything to back up a debate, anybody can make up anything. That and my job is 90% statistics. ;)

I want a runner that is a workhorse.. that can eat up the clock if we're ahead and maybe bust one loose to win or seal a victory... isnt that what he did?

Its not cheating I am sure no other teams fans have done it have they? Ya right, you are allowed to vote 10 times for a reason, it even tells you that you can vote 10 times

Should we vote more than once just because other fans do it? I'm not a cheater cheater pumpkin eater, but you go ahead! :P

Honestly I don't care what happens with this. Vote as many times as you like. You have my permission. ;)
