If we go 4-0 the way our schedule could allow... we should see our name in the top 5 or 6.

aww dang... I gotta go change my pants.

One week at a time gentlemen, one week at a time. Let's get by the Vikes first and then we'll talk. Personally I think the game in Chi. is going to be more difficult than people think. That bears D is no joke.

No doubt about it, getting to 4-0 first requires getting to 2-0.

I can't imagine losing the game in Chicago. If we can manage to score 14 points, then the odds are in our favor. Unless Benson makes an unexpected early impact, that offense won't be any better during week 3 that it was Sunday.

fair enough about taking it one game at a time, the team needs to focus on the Vikings... I on the other hand am not responsible for the mindset of the team, so I'm allowed to look ahead.

With the Bears Defense, I suppose we should consider the whole "any given Sunday" thing... but we should stomp them. Lets stop pretending that holding the almighty Redskins Offense to 9 points with Patrick Ramsey at the helm is some wonderful accomplishment.

Especially considering that those 9 points still didn't manage to get them a win. The Redskins didn't score a lot of points, but they ran the ball for over 160 yards and controlled the clock for nearly 10 more minutes than the Bears.

The Skins rushed the ball for 164 yards... the whole Bears offense got a TOTAL of 166.

The Redskins are not good... and despite only a 2 point differential, dominated the Bears. I expect no problem. Yeah, any given Sunday... but if we lose to the Bears, we are not playoff material. Plain and simple.

Although not as exciting, or probably accurate... the CBS power rankings are in as well. We jumped from 23 to 16, and are still below the Vikings.

Since my last post was made, nothing has changed. The Bears still suck.

Maybe I will make a habit of posting a stat about how they suck in every post from now until we play them. Here's a good one.

They averaged only 3.4 yards per play... not per run, per play! They only average 2.3 yards per run! Suck suck suck.

I'm not saying we'll lose to The Bears, but I do think it will be a more difficult game than people think. For one, it's an away game, and as bad as they are they're better than Cle, IMHO. At least they have a strength on 1 side of the ball. Like I stated above I think we'll win, but I wouldn't be suprised if we win like 17-13.

I have a feeling that Cincy and the 'sotta will be in a pissing contest Sunday. Basically who can score the most. I just think both defenses will be strained to contain our stud Qb's.

Okay... I'll give you that they are better than the Browns, on defense anyway. But we moved the ball at will on the Browns defense, so that is not saying much either.

On the other side of the ball though, the Browns are much MUCH better than the Bears. Legitimate threats at WR, and a veteran QB proven to be a guy to make few mistakes.

Given that defense is our only question mark, and their offense is so ridiculously bad, this should actually work in our favor as an easier win the Browns game.

The Browns were a divisional rival. The Bears will not have nearly as hostile a crowd. No ill will from Bears fans toward the Bengals, ad no extra hate from the players toward the Bengals. I expect a much more lop-sided victory from this game than the Browns game.

Token Bears stat:

They had 10 posessions in the game. 7 punts, 2 turnovers. 3 three-and-outs, and 2 four-and-outs. One of the most inept offenses in history.

The Bears had a plethra of injuries on the defensive side of the ball last year. I think we are a much better team, but we're still feeling things out. Since the matchup is in week 3, and it's an away game I think it MAYBE a more difficult game than most think. I'm not saying that it will absolutely be a tough game, but that it MAYBE. They have two really good DE's in Alex Brown and that guy they traded for from Miami (I'm not going to attempt to spell his name, but he's good), as well as Tommie Harris in his 2nd year at DT. The LB core is excelent as well with Urlacher and Lance Briggs. The secondary has some question marks, but both of there safteys are good.

ONCE AGAIN I'M NOT SAYING THAT WE WILL LOSE, and remember this is MHO.

That's what I'm thinking too. Both teams could score 30 or more. As for the power rankings, at this point in the season they mean about as much as the college football polls. In other words, nada. It's nice to see us moving up though. Hopefully we'll make another move up after the Minnesota game.
