Watson to IR

If Levi can't play or they think there's a good chance he might miss part of the season, then LT makes sense. Steinbach is the backup LT but do they really want to shift him from guard? Larry Moore also got time at LT in pre-season as did Pete Lougheed who is now on the practice squad.

The most qualified LT out there is Derrick Deese, who started at LT for the Bucs last year. He's 35 yrs old and was apparently released after hurting his foot, which looks like will be the subject of a grievance.

Gotta figure DT may be the more likelier way the Bengals go since they jumped in the Corey Simon sweepstakes and had visits from Cletidus Hunt and Leo Carson. The DT market may have just gotten bumped up, though, w/ the season-ending injury to Panther Kris Jenkins yesterday.

If its a third down back the question has to be what candidate has the best hands and can block effectively... We know that backs like Griffin and Cloud have experience and that Wilson seems to have some ability running.. Which back can actually block well.. I dont know....

A left takle is a possibility.. I dont like Steinbach at LT.. It disrupts TWO positions when they move him... Can Andrews shift over there.. They've worked him at both tackle spots... why cant Anderson shift to LT if he's best tackle?

I just read this on cnnsi about the Bengals signing John Ritchie.  I thought Jeremi JOhnson did a great job on SUnday.  I wonder what is up

I'd hope it's just meant to create some competition at the full back position, because Jeremi Johnson is way too good to just be replaced. Marvin himself has spoken well of Jeremi through the offseason, and I doubt this is anything of concern.

I would be totally flabbergasted if they sign Jon Ritchie.. he's strictly a blocker.

He's gained ONE yard rushing in the past five years!!! Only reason I could think of is they arent satisfied with Wilson as a blocker and they would use Jerimi Johnson as the third back in some instances with Ritchie blocking.. I dont like that idea though...

How about short yardage situations with Ritchie blocking for Jeremi! Sounds good to me. I think the main reason for bringing Ritchie in is for special teams. Marvin's comments on Monday made it clear that Watson will be missed there most.

I like that idea in the redzone, but otherwise, I'd rather have Rudi in on short yardage plays.

yes. special teams. it's a part of the team too. an important part.

ML said that was where Watson will be missed, if his replacement can help with that, then that will be what will attract the Bengals to him.

J. Johnson ain't going nowhere, and his playing time is not going to be threatened by Jon Ritchie.
