Bobcat Bengal Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I just read a report where KDub is sidelined with a bum hammy and hasn't practiced, and youse guys know what Coach Lewis policy is on that.Do you guys think its possible that Henry will start alongside Chad, with TJ playing the slot?If so, how often do you think he'll see the field?I'm just curious, but I think there's a very real chance that Henry might start on Sunday. Stripes Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I don't think he will start, technically. I think most plays will call for two receiver sets, and they would likely include Chad and T.J.In any three receiver set plays, then yes, you're probably right, if Washington's injury does keep him sidelined. kingwilly Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 C. Henry won't start but could be on the field by the 3rd play, if K-Dub's hammy issue doesn't resolve.Cleveland certainly does not have the DB's to handle CJ, TJ and Chenry. That means one of them gets the nickel back and CPerry has a LB on him....makes the mouth water. Quote
Sox Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 This is a huge opportunity for Henry.KW better heal quickly, for his own sake. Quote
DC_Bengals_Fan Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 This is a huge opportunity for Henry.KW better heal quickly, for his own sake.Yeah, I don't care what string it was against, he looked great in the Indy game. Quote
RedsFan75 Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Bring a 4 WR set and get Walter in there on a short and the LB's will have him, leaving CJ, TJ, and Henry to create some havoc Quote
jamesbrooks21 Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 It is very possible to see them open in a 3 wr set and even if they don't Henry will see plenty of snaps if Washington doesn't return to the practice field soon. Quote
Stripes Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I'll be pleased to see Henry on the field at any point. He has proven he can contribute with the other wideouts, and he'll get his chances. If Henry even has marginal success this year, Washington may be gone despite any potential improvement, come next years cuts. Quote

BengalBax Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 No, he will not start.Case closed. Quote
davejames88 Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I think 4 Wide with Chad, TJ, Kevin Walter and Henry would be great.. But if 3 wide I'd have Kevin Walter ahead of Henry right now IMO Quote
volcom69 Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 i dont know i thought walter was alittle banged up to, but i love Henry i think we should throw him out there a let him play. I like what i have seen from him and would like to see him play on sunday i would love that. Let him get in there now and learn. Quote
BengalPappaw Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I think the decision on whether Henry gets on the field will depend on the yardage situation. If its 3rd and a BUNCH, I believe that Henry will stretch the field better than Walter. BUT, if its 3rd and short to mid range, I believe that Walter is a better at getting open for the catch. No that's stating the obvious (to me) -- but isn't that what we do? Quote

He had an excellent preseason, but he is still the 4th/5th receiver, and we won't be opening up the offense enough to see him in a physical game like this one. On third and long, I agree we'll see Chris Henry, but Chris Perry will be the primary weapon in that situation depending on matchups (probably with Henry taking coverage from the nickleback to open up the play for Perry.)Third and shorts will probably go to Rudi, or passes to the slot receiver or tight ends. As you said, I'm probably stating the obvious. Post # 600 :player: Quote
bengalbutch Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 It's only a matter of time before he starts along side Chad anyway. The kid is just to good to sit on the bench. Quote

The same was said of Kelly Washington, and he hasn't panned out as of yet. I love Henry's potential, but I want to see him get plenty of play time to prove it. He's going to have to flash some pretty good hands and show excellent route running to ever snag that number 2 spot.Don't ya love this? EVERY receiver on the team is good enough to be productive. CJ and Henry spreading the field...Tj on a post pattern and Perry taking a swing pass isolated on a linebacker...thats going to be their bread and butter pasing play this year imo.... Quote
John Stofa Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 I don't know if he will start or not, but I'm pretty sure Sunday will mark the beginning of a long and memorable career in a Bengals uniform for Chris Henry. He's already a red zone threat and at some point he's going to become a star. It's only a matter of time. Quote
John Stofa Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Don't ya love this? EVERY receiver on the team is good enough to be productive. We are absolutely loaded at WR. And with Chris Perry being a serious pass catching threat out of the backfield the only thing our receiving corp lacks is a Rodney Holman type Tight End. And the coolest thing about our receiving unit is they're all very young. Chad and TJ are the "old men" of the bunch. Ya gotta love that. Quote
RedsFan75 Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 OK, lets just throw this out there....Walter at the TE position. He can hit we see that on special teams. He can catch, we've seen that he has great hands. Can he block. If he can block do you think he'd be a better TE option than what we've got?Even so, get him in there at TE, Perry in the back field with CJ, TJ, and Henry, WOW. Quote

I think he's a bit too thin to be a good tight end. I don't think he'd be able to hold a block on any defensive lineman or linebacker for very long. His best place as of right now would be the 2nd slot in a 4 receiver set. Quote
TippCityRick Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 Henry will be the no 3 this weekend. Washington's hammy is feeling woozy and we've not seen him play through injury to date.As far as Walter, look for him to spell TJ in the slot 5-10 plays, mostly for his ability to block downfield. That's the advantage he has over Henry right now cuz Henry's still a bit shy when it comes to knockin' heads. Of course Kelley has been shy in this regard for the last couple years! Quote

Also, while he blocks DBs very well downfield, I don't like his chances against a DE or LB when he's giving up 50-100 lbs - he only weighs 218. Not going to happen. He'd get killed. Quote
