Bengalbob Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 I guess all of the pre-season talk about the Bengals being the dark horse pick in the AFC is lost on the boys at ESPN. They like (shocker) the Ratbirds and Steelers in the AFCN, and some combination of the Jets, Bills, Jags, Chargers, Ratbirds, and Titans (yes even the Titans above the Bengals!) to make the AFC-WC. I guess we're still under the radar at ESPN . . .http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview05/ne...tory?id=2152292 Quote
skyline Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Titans?? The Titans!?!? They're on some seriously good crack if they think the Titans are going to make the playoffs... Quote
Stripes Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Joe Theismann picked the Redskins to get to the superbowl. That's all I have to say about that. Quote
Bengalbob Posted September 5, 2005 Author Report Posted September 5, 2005 Sorry, didn't scroll down far enough to find that Merrill Hoge (who lives in Ft. Thomas?) and James Black (who?) had the Bengals in the AFC-WC. Quote

BengalszoneBilly Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 Joe Theismann picked the Redskins to get to the superbowl. This years Super Bowl!?! The one in Detroit!?! Are you sure!?! I can't believe anyone not bearing the scars of a recent labotomy would utter such a thing! Quote

I can't believe anyone not bearing the scars of a recent labotomy would utter such a thing! Yep, he really picked 'em. I suppose he refuses to pick against his own team, but who knows. At least he said they'd lose the superbowl.............to the Steelers. Quote
Columbusbengal Posted September 5, 2005 Report Posted September 5, 2005 At least he said they'd lose the superbowl.............to the Steelers. I am surprised everyone is picking the Steelers so high. Have they done anything to improve themselves? Their entire offense relied on their running game and, IMHO, both their RBs are questionable for this season. Also, Ben ended the season worse than he began it and he didn't look very good in preseason. I realize they have a good defense, but I still don't see them winning the division (I am picking the Ravens) or the Wild Card (I'm picking the Bengals and Jets). Quote

Both teams he picked are very similar on paper. Excellent defense, average special teams, and questions at quarterback and receiver. The Steelers are better at each to an extent enough to warrant playoff consideration, but the Redskins? Good grief. andybren Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 Mort still has love for Marvin -- he made reference to him when talking about somebody else entirely. I think it was about Jerry Rice, and he said something like "as Marvin Lewis in Cincinnati says, we're working to be better professionals". So some Kool-Aid is being consumed in Bristol. Quote
Stripes Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 I bet Mort still expects big things from the Bengals, but when he's asked to predict the season, he'll go the safe route to protect his credibility. Quote
