volcom69 Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 Hugh got cut today by the eagles, just wondering with clemons out for alittle bit if anyone would wanna see the bengals sign him. I know hes old and isnt what he used to be but he would be a great vocal leader for a defense that i think needs one. I wouldnt mind if they signed him to a 1 year deal, and just let him play in different situations. Quote
redsfan2 Posted September 3, 2005 Report Posted September 3, 2005 From the Eagles team site in reference to cuts made by the team.DE Hugh Douglas ....... Couldn't quite regain his form after off season shoulder surgery. We have our own injured players ..... we don't need to offer a home to injured Eagles et al. Quote
walshfan Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 better days are way behind him....thought he was done when Jax cut him..Philly confirmed it.... Quote
Bobcat Bengal Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 He went to school in Ohio, a small HBCU called Central State University.About 30 minutes away. Quote
bengalbutch Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 He's lost a step, old and fat !! Forget him. Quote
derekshank Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 So, we're not interested in Douglas. Are there any cuts that we should be interested in, or are we saving that $6 mil of cap space for a rainy day? Quote
kurgan74 Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 I would like to see te Bengals grab DT Rodney Bailey, waived by the Patriots and WR Fred Gibson, 4th round pick (I think) of the Steelers. Bailey played very well in the 1st preseason game against the Bengals. Not sure why the Steelers gave up on Gibson. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 In the category of "draft picks who drew interest around here":Anttaj Hawthorne was cut by the RaidersAnd the Shazor train has left Arizona... Quote

He'd be a glorified cheerleader, and he doesn't have the requisite characteristics to make the BenGals. Quote
StripesNTn Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Didn't we have Hardy to be a cheerleader? Seems we dumped him Quote
AMC Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 Hugh Douglas is washed up! Not an upgrade on what we got already...And enough Shazor talk....why are people in love with that guy???? Quote
AMC Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 the Gibson cut by PITT is rather mysterious...is he worth anything on special teams??? Quote
Wisk Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 In the category of "draft picks who drew interest around here":Anttaj Hawthorne was cut by the Raiders Can't believe Hawthorne was cut! He was an absolute animal in College for Wisconsin. I would love to see the Bengals give him a look. But there must be something we don't know (besides the marijuana positive test) for him to have dropped so far in the draft and now to end up a free agent. Quote
BlainThePain Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 So, we're not interested in Douglas. Are there any cuts that we should be interested in, or are we saving that $6 mil of cap space for a rainy day? That rainy day is called escalators. If Palmer has a monster year that extra 6 million will get eaten up quick. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 And enough Shazor talk....why are people in love with that guy???? Well, at a guess I'd say because our top two SS's are a career journeyman (Olahete) and a converted math teacher (K2). Quote
schweinhart Posted September 4, 2005 Report Posted September 4, 2005 So, we're not interested in Douglas. Are there any cuts that we should be interested in, or are we saving that $6 mil of cap space for a rainy day? That rainy day is called escalators. If Palmer has a monster year that extra 6 million will get eaten up quick. I would think any incentive likely to be achieved would already be rolled into the cap. I would also think any escalators would affect next year's cap rather than this year's.I got the feeling we're gonna see Steinbach playing some LT this year. Better to extend him now w/ the top guard salary in the NFL than wait until he plays at LT and wants even more money 2 years from now.It would be costly to extend Levi but proly worth it if he's 100%. But how healthy is his knee? He was hopping around on 1 foot after a play vs. Colts and left the game in fairly short order. Quote
