So who's the starting strong safety?

Are there other safeties of interest that may get cut by other teams? Is it possible ML grabbed Ohalate to make sure he's got a replacement for Herring, and then look hard at the waiver wires after final cuts?

What ever happened to the Myles experiment at safety.  I haven't heard anything about it since the beginning of preseason and haven't got to watch a lot of the preseason games.  has he even seen any action at safety?

No, I don't think he has. We've had a lot of prospects at safety, and he was probably too low on the list for that experiment to come into action. Now that Herring is down, he may see some time at safety against the Colts.

I just hope that whoever plays strong safety is willing and able to ring a few bells and shorten the arms of enemy receivers. Like David Fulcher. The Shazor guy from Michigan reminded me a bit of Fulcher,i.e., a BIG safety who really knocked heads. [so what the heck was it with Shazor that scared off every team from even using a 7th round pick on the guy? When you look at some of the guys who were drafted, you have to think that there was something really worrisome about Shazor other than a subpar 40 time. What was it?]

NYG - James Butler

- had an int on the first play of the senior bowl

- had a sack of Pennington last week

JAC - Gerald Sensabaugh

- blocked 3 punts in one game while at UNC

- 3 tkl in 2 preseason games

I saw Butler play in college. He is a tough guy. Sensabaugh is a great athlete, but I recall some "draft expert" make very disparaging remarks about his toughness and football acumen. Then again, "draft experts" are a dime-a-dozen. This forum is just filled to the brim with them.
