BlackJesus Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 I think we are looking at a somewhat drastic and necessary last minute remaking of our Superbowl Bound Bengals.Marvin has already - Shelved Herring for the Year- Cut Locker room favorite Peter Warrick- Signed Saftey Ohalete- Signed Linebacker Hannibal Navies- Shelved Webster for the first 6 games (I believe he will be cut)Now.....I anticipate in the coming days Marvin to also- Cut Caleb Miller (injured)- Promote Ohalete to Starting SS by Week 1- Cut John Thornton and Sign Pro Bowl DT Corey Simon (signing Simon may also require cutting another player with higher salary)- Announce that Pollack will be used as a OLB/DE rather than exclusively OLB....- and cut one more prominant name maybe (Duane Clemons who angered him earlier) to get the message out that Marvin Don't play that !!!Once Corey Simon is Singed and Delivered I will start checking Hotel Rooms in Detroit Quote

The_Next_Big_Thing Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Corey Simon will NOT be a Bengal. Marvin Lewis will NOT pay him over $5 million a year, which he turned down from the Ravens. Quote

walzav29 Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Don't forget that Marvin tried to get Gardner and Sapp. He wants a dominant tackle and neither of the current guys have ever been classified as that. Simon has. Quote
walzav29 Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 This was in the Cincy Enquirer."The Bengals are an estimated $6.5 million under the salary cap, so they have money to spend. Despite the early struggles on offense, they still need more immediate help defensively."This will tell me if the Bengals are truly getting more respect. There was a time they couldn't get any free-agents, now they get secondtier free-agents. The next step is getting great free-agents. The Ravens got Mason and Rolle. The Bengals got Herring and Navies. We need Simon! Quote
Kazkal Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 How many D linemen do we plan on keeping? 7? 8 ? 9?I hope we can find room for our 7th round guy I think hes still can turn some heads sense he wasen't at the comubine(sp?) + a small school then again he can be typical no use 7th round pick Quote
Spain Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Black Jesus is right about Simon, However I dont see miller getting cut he played hurt last year. Clemmons mught be safe too, we need a backup and he goes to DT on the 3rd a long package. Webster is choped, Water would never hold up on the line! Herring is screwed alos two years is to much down time! Quote
Dadraftnick Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 Mike Brown will never cough the money to sign Corey Simon.I am not saying he wont get in the Simon derby. He will.He will just do what he always does, low ball him with not enough to get him in stripes just enough to make sure he will go somewhere else, so he can tell everyone how close he was.Has ANY quality free agent EVER signed with the Bengals? NO!!!!!! Mike likes to give the big bucks to the Reinard Wilson's,Rod Jones',and Artrel Hawhins' of the world.Look at the Reggie White deal, to get him to a place like Green Bay the Pack had to pay a good bit more than any other team.Reggie helped them to the Super Bowl. While Simon is no Reggie White he could help this team alot.If Mike Brown were to pay Simon what it takes I would have to re-examine the scenario. The same way you do when you find yourself agreeing with an idiot. If Brown thinks this guy is worth it he must not be.Welcome to the Bengals Twilight Zone. How many times have we went through this this year and the year before that and so on since free agency began.Even when the talking heads say the Bengals have the inside track, the guy loves Marvin and it looks like a sure thing the guy never ends up here.If they were going to give give that kind of money I would think they would have paid Pat Williams that kind of money instead of Simon. That`s just stupid.I like how you mentioned a bunch of s**tty playersfrom the 90`s and left out how Mike Brown poniedup money when he didn`t have to for Rudi, TJ, Chad,Palmer, Kitna and Marvin Lewis...If Marvin Lewis wants Corey Simon and Marvin thinksthe price is right...HE will get him. Marvin wanted Pat Williams who is better than Simon for what Marvin wants to do .Where is he or any fo the other free agents that Marvin wanted. The only guys that Mike Brown pays for is guys he drafted. It is not looking too good for giving T.J. all of that money right now.He had to pay Palmer he had just drafted him.--The thing is Mike Brown never pays for free agents. He will re-up a guy he drafted but not a QUALITY free agent.Mike Brown has NEVER signed a QUALITY free agent since free agency began!!!!NEVER!PERIOD!!!!!!!!
