After reading this it seems that P-dub knows he is about to be booted. I feel confident that P-dub will not be a Bengal this season so the best case for both he and the Bengals is for him to light it up in the upcoming preseason game so maybe there is some hope of getting a decent trade. We shall see...

The only problem with him lighting it up against Philly is he probably won't be playing because he has not been practicing. Marvin has stated, you don't practice, you don't play. P'Dub will not be playing for Cincy this season. And I would not expect him to be playing anywhere this season unless someone wants to take a chance on him. If he is healthy, he is a terror. Since he isn't, he won't be scaring anyone anytime soon.

Warrick's future with Bengals murky

By JOE KAY, AP Sports Writer

August 25, 2005

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Peter Warrick dropped his head and his voice, talking in a near-mumble about his preseason gone awry.

The Cincinnati Bengals' former No. 1 pick has played in only one game and has yet to catch a pass, a bad sign for a receiver who needs to prove himself healthy to keep his job.

``I'm just trying to get in where I fit in, that's all,'' Warrick said, slouched forward on a wooden stool by his locker.

``I really don't know, man,'' he said, his voice dropping off. ``You've got to ask them. Once they tell you, please come back and let me know.''

The Bengals? They're not saying. And that's a bad sign for Warrick, who has no hope of winning a starting job and may be running out of hope to keep a roster spot.

The fourth overall pick in 2000, Warrick arrived in Cincinnati looking to transfer his magic from national champion Florida State to the bumbling Bengals. They have yet to make the playoffs in his five seasons, and only Warrick's 2003 season is worth remembering.

He caught 79 passes for 819 yards that year, carried 18 times for 157 yards, scored eight touchdowns and started looking like the shifty playmaker the Bengals thought they were drafting.

Then, it went downhill fast. A small crack in a bone by the knee limited him to one start, four games and 11 catches last season, his most exasperating in Cincinnati. He missed the minicamps and the start of training camp while the leg healed.

He finally played in a preseason game last Friday, carrying once on a reverse -- he gained 2 yards before slipping -- and failing to catch a pass. Then, he sat out practices this week because of a tender hamstring.

Coach Marvin Lewis plans to wait until shortly before Friday's game in Philadelphia to decide whether Warrick plays. Asked if he has seen enough of Warrick to make a decision about his future, Lewis was noncommittal.

``Whatever I've seen is what I've seen,'' he said. ``That's all I can do.''

Lewis has indicated that he'll carry no more than six receivers on the roster. Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are the starters, and Kelley Washington has developed into the primary backup.

Barring injury, the Bengals also will keep rookie receivers Chris Henry -- a third-round pick -- and Tab Perry, a sixth-round pick. That leaves only one spot open.

Warrick would make $2.28 million in the final season on his six-year contract. He was hoping to prove himself in Washington last week, and was dejected that he didn't get a pass thrown to him.

Warrick won't estimate his chances of playing in Philadelphia. The Bengals have to cut the roster to 65 players by next Wednesday.

``If I play, I know I need to catch a pass,'' Warrick said.

He's quickly running out of time.

``I haven't even played,'' he said, dejectedly. ``That's how it is. I'm just going with a flow.''

Somebody will sign him rather quickly if the Bengals cut him. There are too many teams starting guys who have no hope of being as good as Warrick was in 2003. Some team will give a shot to an ex-#4 pick. He won't get any 2.2 mil, but he'll end up on a team.

I too feel sorry for the guy. I really don't think the Bengals have done right by him with this situation. If a guy's healthy, give him a chance to go out an earn a spot. If he's not healthy, there are regulations about how you treat him. This smells like Mike Brown saving some money again. I don't think his old man would have done this.

Horses**t, he had all year to get healthy. He LIED about being healthy last year, and it cost the Bengals.

a schnarfer is a person who smells there own farts by way of cupping thier hand on their butthole during flat€ulation and then bringing the cupped hand to the nostrils as if it were on oxygen mask.....

You should try that underwater. Catching bubbles can be a great weapon to surprise the unsuspecting swimmer.

Warrick unsure of future with Bengals

NFL.com wire reports

TJ

CJ

KDub

Henry

Walter

I belileve those 5 are going to make it....that leaves one spot between

Warrick and Tab Perry....

Marvin sent a coach out to California to evaluate Perry and they came away impressed with his abilities ...

I dont think Marvin is too enamored with PDub..

I dont look for him to play at all tonight... I thnk they dont want to risk injury.

I believe he's gone and Perry will be the 6th receiver....

Can someone clear up a question regarding his salary? I keep reading that the team was on the hook for $2.2M once they activated him, but why would they owe him if they cut him before the season starts? I usually have a good grasp of the salary rules, but I haven't seen a clear statement about this one.

Thanks.

When he gets cut before playing a regular season game, he doesn't get the 2.28 million. He gets paid for each pre season game he is activated for, according to the NFLPA/NFL Owners agreement.

There was nothing new in this article except that they think that Tab Perry is a lock to make the team, which he isn't.

Nothing has changed ...

My guess is still:

1) Chad Johnson

2) T.J. Houshmandzadeh

3) Peter Warrick

4) Chris Henry

5) Kelley Washington

6) Kevin Walter

With Tab Perry going to the PS ...

From what I've read, it sounds like Warrick himself decided he was not able (or ready) to practice. He apparently knows he's not real healthy but thinks he can handle playing in games as long as he doesn't have to risk further injury in "meaningless" practices. As we know, Marvin thinks people who are healthy enough to play need to be healthy enough to practice.

See, I have debated for about 10 minutes...should I start ANOTHER P-Dub thread with the news from Hobson that Warrick is dressed for tonight's game? Or should I just put it here and hope that people are still reading these damn duplicative threads.

I am putting it here and hoping for the best.

According to Hobson, Warrick is dressed for tonight's game.

This was a non-story to start with, there was nothing new in it at all, it was just some writer's vain attempt to read something into the situation.

Marvin Lewis had already said that Warrick, Kelley Washington and Tab Perry were all game time decisions.

Nicely done. I always look for an existing thread to put a fresh nugget in instead of starting another thread. Most don't.

As for Warrick, if he plays after not practicing I guess we can put to rest that bit about Marvin saying you don't play if you don't practice. Best, it's all the proof I need about the Bengals being extremely cautious with Warrick.
