walzav29
New prediction. I think Marvin has been impressed with K. Wash and Warrick will be traded for a 5th rounder or just released. I just can't see why they would handle him this way.
HoosierCat
from da site...TUESDAY QUICK HITTERS: With the Bengals in shoulder pads and shorts for Tuesday afternoon’s practice, WR Peter Warrick (hamstring) stood on the sidelines for the third straight day. His status for Friday night’s game in Philadelphia remains in doubt, as does a roster spot.“I’m talking about football. We’re not talking about injuries,” said Warrick, who didn’t catch a pass in his 2005 debut last Friday night. “If I play, I know I need to catch me a pass. I haven’t even played yet. That’s how it is. I’m just going with the flow. I just want to catch me a pass.” . . .Why would they treat him like this? Well, the optomist would say that Marvin knows what Peter can do and is more concerned at deciding between guys like Russell and Walters for the final spot. The pessimist would say they just activated him to quell criticism and now are holding him out so he doesn't get hurt (and thus necessitate an injury settlement to release) and will cut him barring injury to Chad, TJ or Kwash. All I'll say is that perhaps I erred in viewing Warick's activitation as a sign the front office is in "win now" mode. Maybe they really are still in "pad Mikey's bank account by $2.2 million" mode...
jditty47
ya im a bit upset in how they are handling the whole warrick situation. theres so much other stuff going on with us that its not as huge a topic as it should be. pdub deserves at least a chance to make this team and earn his CONTRACT money if hes healthy enough to perform. i think its ridiculous to sit him. if they cut him after not seeing him perform im gonna be livid. HairOnFire
I'd put it this way. The Bengals were extremely cautious with Warrick but finally cleared him to practice because they came to the conclusion that his health had improved enough that clearing him to practice was the next logical step. But I'll repeat my opinion that Warrick is still on the bubble. As far as the next next step, now that Warrick's been cleared he'll have to show he can still play at a high level in practices and fake games...plus bounce back from the increased activity....or the bubble bursts. jditty47
HE HAS TO BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE TO SHOW WHAT HE CAN DO. f**k.

MacD BengalFan
If P'Dub doesn't practice at all this week and misses the Eagles game on Friday, I would consider him gone. He just hasn't been the asset he was in 2003 when T.J. went down. If he still makes the team, I think it will be with the practice squad until he is ready. Marvin gave T.J. a chance to make the team after missing 2003, maybe he is doing the same for P'Dub.

HoosierCat
agreed he has to practice... when? next week? next month?? hamstring pull? can you say stretching???????The weird thing is the comment about it not being about injury, but football. It sounds like Marvin (or Mikey?) isn't allowing him to practice -- which has echoes of the whole "he's medically cleared but management won't let him on the field" bit. The whole situation is just fishy.

He missed an entire season because he wasn't honest about still being injured. I don't blame Marvin for not playing him.
bengalskyspy
Please just cut him and let him get on with his life's work as they say. He is way too fragile to depend on him and he is becoming a cancer. This may be cuz management has handled the situation poorly, but he is a cancer nonetheless. Cut it out. JohnsonX5
I just cringe at the thought of cutting Pdub and then seeing him return to his 03 form on another team this year. If the Bengals are certain he's not healthy enough to contribute to any football team this year, then fine, bye bye Warrick. But if there's a good chance we'll have a healthy Pdub, I think he's worth the 2.2 million risk and I think he makes the team. I guess we'll just have to sit back and wait to find out how healthy he really is.

What are you talking about? He's freakin' injured, not being a malcontent. He's a proven commodity when healthy and there's simply no reason to rush him back or risk other injuries if he's sore or banged up. Be patient people. It blows me away how people actually want him gone for no real reason, I just don't get it.Even the two cranky, angry losers this morning on 1360 were all for the Bengals pocketing that $2.2 mil.I'm not real concerned about Mike Brown saving any $ after the last 15 years frankly. And again if Washington or CJ or TJ gets hurt you all will be happy as hell they have a hopefully healthy Warrick to turn to in a few weeks. He missed an entire season because he wasn't honest about still being injured. I don't blame Marvin for not playing him. I think you're right that there's tension between Marvin (and the front office) and Warrick. But I don't think it's over injury issues. My best guess is that it's over his contract. This has all the earmarks of a high-stakes (worth about $2.2 million to be exact) game of chicken. Marvin wants Warrick on the team. But $2.2 million is a lot for a guy who'll at least start out as a backup, so they want him to take a pay cut. Warrick said no.So now the Bengals are playing hardball. Warrick won't take a pay cut? Fine, then he doesn't practice, doesn't play, doesn't get to show he's healthy, and gets cut at the buzzer, after teams like the Eagles have filled their WR needs and when the market is flooded with other axed wideouts. The Bengals will reportedly give him a deal in which he can make the $2.2 million if he hits incentives; if cut at the last minute that may end up looking a lot better than anything he can generate so late on the FA market. The downside is that this may amount to the Bengals' cutting off their nose to spite their face. Warrick missed most of last season. TJ was out all the season before that. And remember Chad's busted collarbone? WR injuries happen, and behind Chad, TJ and K-wash we got two rookies (one injured) and your choice of career nobodies.

Sheesh, that's a ton of speculation, and all of it is based on the presumption that Warrick is completely healthy and being held out of practice soley because of money. Completely healthy? Actually, it's bassed on espn's report that the bengals want Warrick to take a pay cut, and Warrick's declaration to Hobson on bengals.com that he won't. Seems pretty clear to me... KiLBurn
Hmmm.maybe Peter will see some time after all...WR Kelley Washington left Tuesday's practice with a slightly strained hamstring. . . I'm curious if Warrick hasn't threatened to sue Lapham or the Bengals medical staff for broadcasting the extent of his knee injury (HIPPA). Maybe the Bengals are giving him every chance possible to get back on the field to avoid bringing the issue to the courts and Warrick feels he is in the catbird seat and can decide when and where he practices/plays.I think I missed my calling as a tabloid journalist. Interesting theory, and Marvin hasn't been shy about invoking HIPPA to avoid discussing injuries...but Lap was the one peddling the "degenerative condition" bit and HIPPA only applies to employers. HoosierCat
So which one of those sources includes the part about Warrick being completely healthy? Ummm...he has been medically cleared to play, right? By his own doctors and the Bengals medical staff? Warrick is, I'm sure, rusty and not in football shape, same as Chris Perry coming into camp, but if he wasn't completely healthy and capable of getting into football shape, he wouldn't have been cleared. Since when does cleared to play mean totally recovered? I guess we're just coming at this thing from different points. You've always seen a coin-based conspiracy where I've seen nothing but fairly understandable concern and caution.

You've always seen a coin-based conspiracy where I've seen nothing but fairly understandable concern and caution. Hey, hopefully you're right. I've said before that I see no reason to rush Warrick into preseason games, we already know quite well what he can do.As for whether he's completely healthy, I find it tough to believe that Warrick would still be a bengal if there were any significant concerns over his ability to go. If his knee really is shot, it isn't going to be any less shot three weeks from now.The actual "hole" in the "coin" theory is that the bengals and Warrick have both denied the espn report that Warrick was asked to take a pay cut. It's one of the few pieces of evidence that gives me hope the whole thing is indeed just a case of the team not rushing Warrick. Like KilBurn said elsewhere, we'll see in a couple weeks.
