walzav29 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I read on Bengals.com yesterday that we are concerned about Palmer. Who is? It's preseason. I just read an article on the Colts offense not working. I know Palmer was like 9 for 9 against the Lions 2 years ago and it really didn't mean much. Is anyone sweating this? I am not. Quote
The Big Orange Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I think he'll throw an INT in each of his first six games, and be closer to 1-1 TD to INT ration, but then he'll settle in and be closer to 2-1 or 3-1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 The only guy I'd say I'm actually "worried" about right now is Shayne Graham. Opie needs to get healthy, we need him. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Graham is fine, they are just giving him more time to heal and giving his friend a chance to catch on elsewhere by showing his skills in pregame while Shayne rests. Quote
Spain Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Not too much, the only thing is he needs to get into form quicker this year so we can make the playoffs. Quote
Bobcat Bengal Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I'm worried about his Vision Cone in Madden '06. Quote

I'm not 'jump off a bridge' worried, but it is a concern. All of the experts that are picking the Bengals to fair well, are banking on the fact that Palmer will build on his performance at the end of last year. How many qbs have we seen regress after a successful year? Tommy Maddox & Drew Bledsoe come to mind. Heck, Rick Mirer was the rookie of the year coming out of ND.Even though he is coming off of an injury, I think Palmer will be fine. However, I am less worried about their run defense, which will get better with time and reps. Quote

However, I am less worried about their run defense, which will get better with time and reps. I wouldn't mind if CP ends up in the same realm as Bledsoe. If that statue could get rid of the ball a little earlier he would probably already have at least one ring. To be honest, and I know this is not so much of an objective take, CP just looks like a QB. Even when he's off he still has control of the huddle. If anything, he reminds me of a Troy Aikman clone. Even when Aikman was getting hammered his first year he just looked like a QB. CP has that and, although there will almost certainly be a few regression games this season, I think we will see him come into his own. I would also like to see him go about 8 for 10 on Friday -- spread the ball around (especially to Henry) -- and then sit. They probably will play him at least the half again, though. Quote
WhoDeyHomer Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Palmer will be fine, its like he said on the site, they aren't worried about his stats right now, they are trying to work on things. Obviously Palmer is trying to get Chad on the deep ball, he has it with everyone else, Chad is just faster than Everyone else and CP hasnt adjusted to that yet. He is cutting it up on third down, almost 75% conversion rate, that shows me he is ready. So as Mr. Bobby McFerrin would say, don't worry be appy mon. Quote
Bwestbrook36 Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I am not worried about carson at all. i dont even think it will be a 1-1 ratio the first six games. his pick vs the skins he was hit on, and you saw how mad he got, i dont think that he will throw more than maybe 13-15 ints the whole year.MADDEN 06 was put together bad carson sucks, you cant hit chad deep, and our D is better than the ravens..what the hell is that about Quote
Ox Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I'm worried about his Vision Cone in Madden '06. No Freakin' doubt. I finally got pissed and just turned it off. Quote

I was just confused with the whole Bwestbrook thing and wasn't sure who "our D" was. Quote

HairOnFire Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Long-term? No, I'm not worried. The short-term is another matter. I'm convinced that Palmer is going to be an outstanding QB but I do worry about young QB's developing bad habits due to inexperience. In this case I worry that Palmer is trying to take a short cut to success by leaning to heavily on his relationship with Chad. But beyond that I have few worries about Palmer. Quote

Opie needs to get healthy, we need him. dont get me wrong, I think Graham has done a great job and will continue to be effective in years to come but the kid they have right now looks ok too.. Got a hell of a leg.. someone will claim him...As for Palmer....His short game isnt what Id like yet...leaves his receivers outstretched to much and vulnerable..at least so far he has....He's not going to put up these outrageous numbers some of you have forecasted ....32td's and 15ints........no I dont believe that ....something like 24td's and 16ints imo....
