KiLBurn
Freddie Millons and Rashaud Baumann might as well clean out their lockers. Patrick Body has not impressed lately.Peter Warrick seems to slide further off the depth chart with each game. Washington and Walter both caught TD passes.Shaun Smith looks like he wants to make the roster. Who's roster spot can he take? Langston Moore ? Mathias Askew ? Spain
If things keep up like this PW,Askew are cooked. Perry will get more snaps in the first half than Rudi! CJ is going to have a down year because he is drawing some serious multiple coverage. Palmer wil have some good rushing stats!
ShulaSteakhouse
The 0-line looked pretty awful in the first half (Levi doing his best swinging door job again). Funny how people were singing Rudi's praises last week, then this week when he was getting stuffed in the backfield all of a sudden Perry, playing against 2nd stringers again - is the man. Rudi did have some nice runs and looks as strong as ever.Again, Perry and Rudi will compliment each other, as they were intended to do. Perry was solid, but it wasn't as if he broke off any 70 yard TD runs either. But again the run defense was questionable at times, at best, and the 0-line suffered miserably in pass protection early on. Palmer's gonna get hurt again at this rate if he can't get a few seconds and an open WR to throw to more quickly. He was forced out of the pocket all night long. Washington and Walter both caught TD passes.Shaun Smith looks like he wants to make the roster. Who's roster spot can he take? Langston Moore ? Mathias Askew ? Baumann was god awful. He got turned around twice so bad he was 15 yds away from the receiver when the ball was caught. It doesn't look very good for him. The only thing in his favor is that Brandon Williams is less in coverage than he is vs. the run. But at this point, even with the way Williams got burnt in 1st half last week, I think the edge has got to go to Williams as the 4th CB on the depth chart. Whether or not Terrell Roberts or Greg Brooks challenge this or not remains to be seen. But for the money I doubt it will be Roberts.Body will be a good practice squad addition. I've seen 3 different players credited for causing the fumble at the end of the game yesterday but none credited who it looked like it really was -- Body. Still, he's not even in contention IMO.P-Dub actually showed that at least he has the physical ability to make the lightning quick stop and cut once he turns the corner on the reverse. He just didn't keep his feet. He dropped the ball in the soft spot of zone about 20 yds downfield but how wide open he was is a pretty good indication that he can still get P-Dub separation, which neither K-Dub or Walter can come close to approximating.Shaun Smith does look like he wants it a whole lot and he is doing good things. I'd rather they keep Smith over Langston Moore, who went back to his getting bulldozed ways last night. But unless the Bengals keep 5 true DTs, I'd have to say Smith won't make the final cut. CantStop85
I think Kenny Watson pretty much secured his spot on the roster last night. Buh bye Quincy Wilson.
schweinhart
I hope they keep Wilson around through the rest of the pre-season, though, and let him chore a lot with the 3rd and 4th QBs. I'd rather not see any of the Bengals 3 RBs get more than 10 touches from here on out, just on the safe side. All three look like they could jump into the mix tomorrow for the real thing, so let them fine tune what they need to more in practice.Wilson showed some real skills vs. Patriots but didn't get much of a chance last night. I seriously doubt he gets claimed off waivers or plucked off the practice squad. Possible but he'd be a good player to have ready on the squad. jditty47
all backs besides johnson, johnson, perry, and watson are gone. pw made the roster when he stepped foot on the practice field last week. he has to be paid the 2.2 mill so hes on the roster...stop thinking hes gonna be cut. The NES Advantage
I was watching the game from last night and I kpet trying to get a lot of the players and their positions down. There are so many players out there right now! It will be nice when we find out who will be the final 53. I think that is also why the team doesn't have much of a rythm yet. It's hard for Palmer to get a rythm going when he's throwing to 7 or 8 different recievers per game!

Pdub does NOT have to be paid 2.2 million for stepping on the field. He MUST be on the roster after cuts to get the 2.2 million. Preseason games do not count towards getting your salary, which is why many big time players don't like the preseason. If you are cut before the regular season, your money is not guaranteed. derekshank
It's hard for Palmer to get a rythm going when he's throwing to 7 or 8 different recievers per game! Why? Tom Brady does it basically every game. If we are only throwing to 3 or 4 guys, it means our offense is not as deep as we've ben preaching all off-season. The NES Advantage
All I'm saying is when you get down to your every game roster, you develop a rythm. Tom Brady wouldn't disagree with that!
derekshank
Fair enough, but Brady didn't seem to be having too many of these problems that Palmer had yesterday... and it was Brady's first pre-season game. The other players who actually played their second were very acurate, and posted very respectable numbers.Palmer did too, but in the 2nd quarter. HoosierCat
OK, first this Palmer guy just sucks. 1 TD, 2 picks, can't handle pressure and his knee is ready to go at any moment. Dump him, go with Kitna. Then this Perry kid at RB. Can't make the second man miss. Worthless. And that DRudi guy can't even get past the first man. Bring on Quincy Wilson.Chad Johnson? Has he caught a ball so far this preseason? Cut this clown, maybe Pepto Bismol needs a spokesperson. TJ? Missed an easy TD last night, give him the ax before he kills us in September. K-Wash, Warrick, and Walter, that's the way to go.I guess we have to keep Tory James but he's so old he'll probably be in a nursing home by October. This Delta guy's a bust and Keiwan sucks. Madieu? Useless, can't even get on the field. Bring on HD Jones and Patrick "fumblemaker" Body. And hey, this new kicker can get the ball to the 5 on kickoffs, I say we dump Shayne for him. BengalByTheBay
I love CP as much as the next guy, but can we compare him to someone a little more relevant to his stage of development than the 2-time superbowl MVP? While there shouldn't be any surprise that he's come out a little slow, having missed the last 3 games of last season, but I do share the concern about his accuracy. The deep routes are one thing -- he was often short on those last year as well. This seems to be something he still needs to work on. However, he's consistently throwing behind on the crossing routes which I don't remember from last season. I'm happy that he seems to be able to pull the ball down and run -- that will scare the crap out of defenses who will already be faced with having to guess on the run/pass call. But I think the final 2 preseason games should nail him in behind the line and Brat should just tell him to throw it away if he's getting too much pressure.EDIT: Oops -- my bad, Brady wasn't MVP this year. First of all, the only reason I mentioned Brady was to make the point that successful QB's spread the ball around. For Brady, this might be just because he doesn't have a legitimate #1 receiver... but the fact remains, spreading the ball around to muiltiple receivers is what makes a successful QB. I don't need to compare him to Brady to make that point... I can compare him to himself late last season. Also, I wasn't comparing Palmer's accuracy to Brady, as much as every other QB in the league. I mean, Trent Dilfer went 9-13 today, whearas CP went 4 for his first 13. The accuracy was a problem in the first quarter... hopefully the 2nd quarter CP is what we'll see as the usual from now on... (and I think it will)

KiLBurn
But at this point, even with the way Williams got burnt in 1st half last week, I think the edge has got to go to Williams as the 4th CB on the depth chart. Whether or not Terrell Roberts or Greg Brooks challenge this or not remains to be seen. But for the money I doubt it will be Roberts.I reluctantly agree that Terrell Roberts is sliding down the depth chart. I thought he showed a decent nose for the ball when he was healthy. I have yet to even see him play this year.I would still keep Roberts over Baumann, Brooks, or even Williams. If Kaesverharn sticks, I see Roberts getting the boot. Roberts had a great pre-season last year, came out playing early in the regular season, then vanished under odd circumstances until late in the year.I thought he was already an RFA but he's not and will only make $380k this year, which would be to his advantage if he ever gets back out on the field.Bauman OTOH is making RFA money ($656k). Cut him and keep a rook at about minimum and there's $400k in the pot to extend either Levi or Steinbach if that's the course. However, Bauman could get cut some slack because of the achilles injury and the death of his child last year. When he showed last year, he looked like the fastest CB off the corner blitz, but so far this year, he's looked terrible.I'd rather they just keep 9 DBs because Madieu, K2, and Myles can all play CB. If Roberts can really play FS, then it would help his cause if they keep 10.Another wildcard here is starting t emerge in Indiana Jones. But he's proly on the same footing really as Wendell Williams was last year.I'd say the top 8 DBs at this point are:1. Madieu2. O'Neal3. James4. Keiwan5. Herring6. K27. Myles8. MitchellThe last 2 spots if they keep 10 look like they boil down to:1. Roberts2. Williams3. Bauman4. Brooks5. Jones6. Body
