BENGAL
ChadTJK WashWalterHenryRussellIn that order...Tab was no where to be found...don't even think he was at the game...P Dub may as well have not been at the game...K Wash did well...K Walter did excellent...I don't think people give that kid enough recognition, when he gets the shot he steps it up...I'd say he can push Kelley for the #3 spot...In my opinion these are our 2005 receivers.... The_Next_Big_Thing
After this game, once again, I predict Pdub doesn't make the roster. 2 million+ and he isn't playing. Washington had a couple really nice catches in limited action. So did Walter. What happened to Henry this week, I don't know. SOmeone needs to school him! DontPushMe
I think Walter has played his way onto the team. Warrick, if he doesnt step up in the next couple weeks might be gone, just because his salary wont match the production. CJ, TJ, KWash, and CH are locks, KWalter will probly make it, and I think Tab Perry is destined for the practice squad. Id give the 6th spot to Russell because he is an asset in the kick return game. andybren
Why is it that people who don't think Warrick will make the team continue to suggest that his high salary makes him expendible? Hasn't it been well established that his salary will be paid regardless of whether or not he makes the team? If anything, his salary keeps him on the roster. If I'm writing a check for $2.2 million, I'm not going to give up on my investment so easily. Worse comes to worse, and you determine that Warrick's career is effectively over, you might as well keep him on the bench, just in case you're wrong. You cut the man and you have ZERO chance at getting ANY value for your dollar.Just once, I would like to hear somebody (other than Spain) finish this sentence: "Even though it means a complete and total loss of $2.2 million, Peter Warrick should be cut from the team because..." cover2
The reds had a expensive relief pitcher, who is now gone. Why? He took up a valuable roster spot.....if he can't earn is way....he can't stay!

The_Next_Big_Thing
It doesn't mean a loss of 2.2 million if he doesn't make the team. He gets paid for preseason games, but he does not get his full salary if he doesn't make the cut.
KiLBurn
From Bengals.comLewis didn’t get into specifics, but there are clearly big financial implications if Warrick is activated from the physically unable to play list but his knee isn’t up to it. Once the team passes him on the physical and puts him on the field, then it is liable for his $2.2 million salary.Lewis and Brown made the call even though once they let him on the practice field they are liable for his entire $2.2 million salary if he repeats 2004 and can’t stay healthy.I'm confused. Are they responsible for the $2.2M already, since he was activated from the PUP list, or are they only responsible for it if he gets injured again ? JohnsonX5
I was certain before Friday's game that P-dub would make the team easily. Now, I'm not so sure. But, come on, he only touched the ball once if I remember correctly. Can we at least give the guy a chance? He's only been practicing for a week right? This reminds me of last week when people were writing off Washington because he dropped one pass.
rizzy
I am sure P-Dub will get a lot more looks next week than last night. I bet by next week he will have 2 weeks of practice under his belt they will let him return a couple of punts.

KiLBurn
Personally, I hope they trade him before next week. We have a lot of other good receivers that could make the team.Think about it. We free up $2.2M to extend some contracts on the lines. We get a conditional draft pick next year. (5th rounder with possibility for a 3rd, or better, depending on his performance.)Even IF he manages to stay healthy and have a good year. We won't be able to keep him next year. Chad JohnsonT.J. KiLBurn
I think Tab Perry is destined for the practice squad. If he managed to clear waivers to make it to the practice squad, He would be gone by week 3. There are plenty of teams out their looking for a WR. ArmyBengal
C'mon people, P-Dub hasn't been in practice forever now, he plays in one game with one touch (from my understanding), and people are ready to hang him up. Unreal in my opinion... Regardless of if he's going to be able to produce long range over the year or not, he has to be given the opportunity just like everyone else. Is him getting the ball once an opportunity ?? Not to mention we are trying to figure out what we have in other players trying to make the team. Good God people relax and wait and see what happens... Is it really paining all of you to have this type of a problem ?? If it is, might I suggest you go back and review how many options we had through the "decade of distress"... Give him a break already...WHODEY !!!

Give him a break already...WHODEY !!! Well, the simple fact of the matter is that the team needs to make some tough decisions this year. I'm not hating on Warrick, I just don't see him as being the best choice for the team. How about you give us a reason why he is the best option of the following 4 receivers instead of telling us to give him a break ?Tab Perry <- Will not clear waivers. Makes rookie pay. Nice Special teams prospect.Jamall Broussard <- Shows the same quickness/elusiveness that PDub used to. Nice return man prospect.Cliff Russell <- Tons of speed. Good Size. Special teams. 5th Wideout.Peter Warrick <- questionable knee, $2.2M cap hit, decent trade bait.
HoosierCat
When all is said and done our 6 wideouts will be Chad, TJ, Warrick, Squirrel (K-wash), Chipmunk (K-walt), and Henry. Tab Perry will be cut, clear waivers, and signed to the PS (IIRC, he's nursing a groin injury right now as well as getting little playing time, no one will be in a rush to grab him). ShulaSteakhouse
Just once, I would like to hear somebody (other than Spain) finish this sentence: "Even though it means a complete and total loss of $2.2 million, Peter Warrick should be cut from the team because..."his knees are shot and he can not be counted on to give us a full seasons worth of play. That has not been proven yet.Look, hardly any of the WR's got multiple catches last night except Walters.Warrick has been back one week and they are taking it slow with him and limited his # of snaps to 15-20.Because the ball didn't come his way doesn't mean he all of a sudden sucks. As soon as he gets back into shape and his knee gets stronger and makes a big play or two, or even a nice one, this will be forgotten I think.Doesn't mean he will be here next year, but this year, he'll be part of the team and get more time, with time. Be patient.I am ok with a corps of CJ, TJ, Warrick, KW, Henry, and Walters if it comes to that.

If I could dig up the thread from last year around this time (Insiders), I said we should have cut him then because he would not contribute this (last) year due to his knee. We kept him and look what happened. Nothing. We did fine last year without him and we will be fine this year without him.
KiLBurn
This is as far back as I could get.KiLBurn Sam Wyche GeneralPosts: 1000 Posted: 4/28/05 6:55:40 pm  Re: JAMALL BROUSSARD!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Last year, when it was final cuts before the season began, I predicted Broussard would replace Warrick in the lineup , due to Warricks degenerative arthritic knee.I was wrong last year but I think Marvin knows he is dealing with damaged goods... Warrick will not be a Bengal this year.
AMC
Perry looks to be going to the practice squad....if Broussard goes there he is likely to be claimed by another team...Walter definitely makes it on special teams alone, plus he is developing into a nice wr...maybe a number 4-5.CJTJWashingtonWarrickHenryWalterI think in the next two games Warrick steps it up...it's here or nowhere.... andybren
I recall Warrick getting two looks last night, the reverse where he tripped up after a few yards and the short route where the ball bounced off his hands. Rusty after not playing for nine months? Obviously. Bad knees that make him unable to play professional football? Not by what I saw. If bad knees allow you to turn the corner on an end-around, then we should all be so lucky as to have bad knees. If Warrick gets beat out based on superior play, then so be it. I just find it hard to believe that he is worthless. By my count (CJ, TJ, CH, PW/KW/KW, JB) Broussard is the #7 guy, and he's not beating out a healthy Warrick. He's just too small. And Marvin's not going to cut somebody with the potential explosiveness of Peter Warrick in favor of a #8 wide receiver. And for what it's worth, I find it odd that an player's ability to clear waivers (Tab Perry) should be a factor in whether or not to keep him. If you limit yourself to 6 or 7 receivers you can hardly be sweating about that 8th guy and whether or not somebody will take him. Obviously you want good projects on your practice squad, but you shouldn't let that compromise your picks for the regular squad. There will be other Tab Perry's down the road.
