I am listening to the Bengals on the radio and Brad Lapham analize every play ...He really is a jackoff. His insights are beyond rediculous and his lack of tact is almost humerous...Am i alone is thinking he should be kicked in the mouth? He puts the bengals down on every play they do not score a tochdown on. He is an embarrasment to cincinnati!

His name is Dave Lapham. His partner is Brad Johanson.

Like him or not, he is the most knowledgeable guy covering the Bengals. He is usually the first guy to break a story and has alot of contacts behind the scenes.

Dave's style is an acquired taste. He is an absolute homer and sometimes that can get annoying but that's Lap.

When I read that, I thought Dave Lapham's son, Brad, was doing the preseason games on the radio or somethin  . I love listening to Dave Lapham. It's hilarious how much of a homer he is. I love listening when Rudi is in the middle of a big run or something and Brad Johanson is trying to do the play-by-play and you can hear Lap in the background yelling "GO RUDI! GO RUDI! GO RUDI!" . He loves the Bengals and he loves to see them do well, at least he has so enthusiasm!

I agree with the Next Big Thing. I usually watch games on tv with the mute on and I listen to the game with Lapham and Johanson. They make the game so much fun to listen to. They are better than those retarded CBS announcers. And Lap and Johanson are always on Sportscenter's soundbites. The two are two of the best IMO.

Lapham's an excitable homer, and has gotten better over the last several years, he is what he is.

He's a former Bengal to the clueless one who started the thread and was a starter on the the first SuperBowl team. He's suffered through the Mike Brown debacle era along with the rest of us, and is the only one who has been willing to do post-game locker room interviews the last 15 years, and announce every game.

He's also a big SOB and if you tried to "kick him in the mouth" he'd surely punt you into oblivion. :player:

I love Lapham and now that the Bengals actually score on offense, he gets a little excited. So do I, so it just like having a big brother there on radio with us cheering.

He played the game and is quite knowledgable of Bengal football. I can't think of anybody who would be better. I like him more than Munoz. I respect Munoz and he does OK. I wish Paul whathisname still did radio but some of his standard lines are getting real stale.

Just wanted to add to the props for Lapham. I love the guy. His excitement is fun and he routinely says more stuff that only a knowledgeable fan can appreciate than any other announcer. Guys like Madden, who say the same dumb crap over and over again, piss me off. Lapham actually explains what happens in technical terms.

100% agree. The Lap is great, but an acquired taste . . . kind of like Joe Nuxhall on Reds radio. If we replace anybody, it should be Johansen - when listening to the radio, you never know if a flare pass lost 5 yards or gained 20 - and he STILL gets the defensive player names mixed up.

Lapham used to be my next door neighbor and he's as good a neighbor as he is a color guy. In 1988 when the Bengals were on their Super Bowl Run, it was a blast interacting with somebody on the inside, it just added to the excitement. We painted our mailbox in Bengals stripes and he gave us some tips on how to make them look like authentically Bengal.

He is definitely a homer, but he's one of us. Like many others, I turn off the CBS announcers and put on 1360 for Brad and Lap.

Just wanted to show my enthusiam for Dave Lapham. He is a color commentator and boy, does he add color to the game. It has to get you excited when in the middle of a preseason game he is shouting at the third string DB to get the interception. Furthermore, he often catches penalties long before the guys on TV pick it up, and he jumps on guys that make mistakes. Dave Lapham is a Cincinnati Bengal, and for that i am very happy.

I live in Tokyo so I don't get to see the games very often (real time). My only option is to listen to Dave on internet radio and have the live-game stats going on NFL.com.. I have to admit, it took some time getting used to him but I have grown to actually enjoy his game calling. He is usually dead on in calling the penalties before the officials announce them and he isn't afraid to rip the Bengals when they screw up. Keep up the good work Dave.

Q: How do the Ravens spend the first week of training camp?

A: Studying the Miranda Rights

I think Dave and Brad make a very good combo. They both have a lot of energy, so they succeed in the difficult task of making radio fun. Sure, sometimes they focus a bit too much on the negative, but can you blame them? Long time Bengals fans have that habit.
