BengalszoneBilly Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 Believe me when I tell you that I've seen and done things that you not only can't imagine, but wouldn't be able to spell if you could. Easy now Pat. You don't want to scar our young Spaniard member for life and have him end up like poor Jack here do you? Quote
JPW Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 One mans "rational" might very well be another mans "crazy" don't you think?Yea I do think that ...I also know that, "a sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men who can render a reason".I happen to think that a post is much more interesting, if the poster can give some reason for their opinion, even if I totally disagree with their rationale. At the very least that leaves room for further discussion ...But remember, I am just talking about my own personal bias here, if others see it another way that is fine with me.FYI...there's more to life than football!Well thanks for the heads up ...The fact is, I am retired now and I have room for a wide range of interests, which I never had a lot of time for in the past.I happen to have a very full life, but thank you very much.Someone once said, "I have been poor and I have been rich....rich is better".I say, "I have been a wage-slave and I have been retired....retired is better".But I am digressing ...Football is just one of my interests and the Bengalszone is just one part of that particular interest. In my mind Bengalszone is strictly a football forum, if I wanted to talk about the price of tea in China, I am sure that I could find a forum that charts the price of tea day and night.I am not saying that there is anything wrong with people talking off topic, nor did I say anything even close to that in my first post in this thread. All I am saying is that, I come here primarily to talk Bengals Football and that as far as posters go, I am biased toward those who make rational points about the Game. But once again that is just me, I fully understand that other may hold other views on the matter. BengalszoneBilly Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 I see by the name that we've got a new fellow Marine on board .... You must mean Semper_Fi_Dawg. Yeah, I PM'ed him the day he became a Bengalszone member for 2 reasons. First was the obvious Marine Corps brotherhood we share, and the second was his close ties to the Georgia Bulldogs and our top 2 draft choices. This guy has the skinny on Pollack and Thurman from watching them play their entire college careers. He was so impressed by their outstanding play there, he wanted to follow them into their professional careers, which was made quite easy when Marvin drafted BOTH!Due to Marvins actions on that single day, he became convinced of the genius within the man, and decided then and there during that one moment of clarity, from that moment on he would forever be a...CINCINNATI BENGALS FAN!**Andy Rooney voice: "And that's the rest of the story!" andybren Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 **Andy Rooney voice: "And that's the rest of the story!"I knew there was a reason I bothered reading this thread...the trademark line in question comes from Paul Harvey, not Andy Rooney. But it's not like you misquoted Animal House or anything, so I doubt anybody else noticed.Just wondering, Mods, but were some of Spain's posts censored, or has he been drinking again? There really should be a decoder ring included. Quote
The Big Orange Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Just wondering, Mods, but were some of Spain's posts censored, or has he been drinking again? There really should be a decoder ring included.I haven't edited any Spain posts recently, but not long ago I was deleting them by the dozen before God saw and let a little entire country forest fire to ruin the drive from Portugal to France.Forgive him, for he hasn't a clue when he's drinking/drugging/or just breathing.I like Spain, but drinking Spaniards aren't known for their common sense. The best case scenario for this thread is that Black Jesus might allow us to officially adopt him. Worse case scenario...157 poster feeling underappreciated...50 of them with good reason...I still don't understand how Billy isn't running away with this thing...He's the heart and soul of this place IMHO...I think that the votes for Hair to me means that people love intelligent humor/satire...along with a good understanding of the team...A vote for Joisey means to me you love a really solid debate in your forum...A vote for Black Jesus to me means you love slap stick humor with good team insight...A vote for Captain Kirk means you really appreciate some of the most solid Bengals writing anywhere on the web or print...I'm trying to figure out what a vote for me says...perhaps it's a vote for a Father Francis Mulcahy type, who has only a remedial knowledge of the team/game, but tries to be nice and welcoming (which I could see as popular traits on a prenatal site, but am surprised here) Quote
JPW Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 None of those guys are very good. If you want to here some good posts with a lot of insight go to bengalsinsider at www.scout.com. This is by far the best Bengals site out there.http://mb26.scout.com/bbengalsinsider Sorry but these guys suckI hope that you are joking ...The Insider used to be a pretty good site about a year or two ago.Since then it has degenerated to the point that it is now almost completely devoted to the art of "LOSER-ISM".It is hardly even worth reading anymore ... HairOnFire Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 I'm trying to figure out what a vote for me says...perhaps it's a vote for a Father Francis Mulcahy type.... You sell youself short. I can't imagine the padre from MASH writing about how he took a dump on a lawn and then placed atop the gift a peanut for dramatic impact. No kidding, when I read that one I knew you'd do very well in this sort of poll. As for Billy, he'd be wise to take note of the above and in response write far more about his morning massives. Quote

It'll clear up any questions you may have had why you were on the list. Same thing could have been said about a post from Hair or Black Jesus.* Like I said in my response ...... on any given day any of you could be the best poster on the board. This time it just happened to be you that's all. * I can't even type that without cracking up Quote

It's not possible to distingish "best" cuz in the immortal words of some long ago beer campaign . . .I LOVE YOU, MAN!!!!!!. . . or men, and this includes EVERYONE here (including the few select ladies!).It's a community that includes all levels of society - some crazy good (Hair, O), some crazy bad (Spain), but they're all part of the mix. I enjoy the mix as it is and as it will inevitably change to be.So a toast to all ya'll . . . just make it a rich dark beer so it's worth your while!!!!! Quote
