bengalindian
I say 6...retires midseason. Also, I feel that he should have done the Emmitt thing and retired as a 49er because that's the most respectable thing to do, maybe not for him, but for the fans. But it IS his career and he can do what he wants, it just doesn't make much sense anymore.
redsbengalsbucks
Im not a Rice fan or a Raiders fan but I hope he goes in the HOF as a Raider, I hate the 49ers.
rizzy
He is not a raider though everyone knows him as a 49er which is where he should be for the HOF.
ackley1
yeah, i'm not sure he'll make the cut...i hope he does. even though he tore our asses up in sb 23, you gotta respect the guy.
Ickey44
Um, no I don't. He should've retired two or three years ago. I think he's just a product of two HOF quarterbacks. He hasn't done s**t since Young retired.

Ickey44
One, that's it. And it wasn't great, it was solid. I don't recall any great plays by Rice after the catch. I've seen some where he caught the ball in stride and got lots of YAC cause no one was near him, but that has more to do with the throw than anything he did. I can't deny his work ethic and awareness, but I still don't think he's as great as everyone thinks he is. And I hate him. He's an arrogant prick. ArmyBengal
Product of two HOF quarterbacks ?? The same argument can be made that Montana and Young were the product of the best WR of all time. Someone has to CATCH the balls being thrown at them. I personally can't stand the 49er's and any Bengals fan that CAN, isn't a fan or to young to remember. However, to just dismiss Rice as anything less than the best is craziness plain and simple. WR's just don't go out and put up the numbers he has for as long as he has. He's not what he once was, I admit that, but in his day, he was DOMINANT. T.O. couldn't carry his jock.I hate like hell to use my 700th post on the 49er's, but oh well...WHODEY !!!

I believe it goes both ways.I don't think they would have made the HOF if their best receivers were Freddie Solomon or Ty Streets.
bengalboomer7
Yeah, I don't think you can make the QB-WR argument cause they doth need each other. Personally, I think that Rice has tainted his legacy and I'll remember his Raiders/Broncos days just as much as I'll remember
bengalboomer7
Just read somewhere that he has moved up from fourth WR to the third WR Jerry Rice's name should never be in a sentence like that

He made in to five Superbowls without a dominant receiver. Didn't win one til he had a running game though.I can't believe there's Bengals fans sticking up for Rice. WTF? Doesn't have world class speed. Etc. Etc. I always admired the guy from afar. Montana and Bill Walsh are the common characters from the two Super Bowl losses, not Rice. Then last year, demanding a trade cause he wasn't being used enough. WTF? He's got every record there is to have and he's still bitching about not getting the ball enough?
