Kirkendall
Not really looking at players (other than first-game Bengals, or rookies). But I'd say mistakes, fouls, flags, that sorta thing will be what I look for. How the offense responds if D is scored against. Adjustments too. Sox
On offense,I will just be watching the play.On defense,my binoculars will be focused directly on Odell Thurman...

BengalszoneBilly
As I will be doing in all the preseason games, I'll be watching the one thing that will make or break the Bengals as far as making any playoffs...the Bengals run defense. If that "Swinging Gate" of a squad from seasons past doesn't get it's latch fixed so it's closed most of the time, it's going to be another year of "Close but not quite." HairOnFire
I'll be watching closely for all of the usual Bengal suspects as well as for Corey Dillon. That said, I assume the odds are about 50/50 that he'll be on the sidelines in street clothes.
CBin2k7
I will be watching for injuries. I also want to the 1st string O/D play a clean game.
Stripes
I'll be watching for offensive timing to be down pat, as I've been worried about that a bit through camp. I'll be watching the run defense, of course, but I don't think New England will use Dillon or Faulk enough for us to really gauge anything. I'll be watching Chad and the rest of the WRs tear apart the New England secondary once again (sadly during a meaningless preseason game) and Palmer make all the throws. I'll watch the new D-Line, an hope to see some major pass rushing early. I hope I'll be watching both Thurman and Pollack on the field getting some much needed playing time (but I doubt it). CantStop85
I'll watch for us to improve on a 31-3 victory...too bad it's preseason.I'll watch Odell and the D-line, and most of the receivers.
buck3y3d
I'd like to see how the O-line looks, especially without Willie. They looked mediocre at best from what i saw in training camp.I'd also like to checkout the Bramlet/Krenzel battle as i think one may be a long time backup as Kitna's paycheck is quite high. Finally, i'd hope to see few flags, especially pre-snap infractions.
HairOnFire
I'll watch for us to improve on a 31-3 victory...too bad it's preseason. Well that would be something. Even after winning ANOTHER Super Bowl championship Bill Belichick was still talking about the preseason loss to the Bengals during an interview on NFL Network. Among the things he commented on was how embarrassed he was that his team didn't take the preseason game seriously and how completely whipped they were as a result. Something tells me he'll have 'em ready to go this time.

Among the things he commented on was how embarrassed he was that his team didn't take the preseason game seriously and how completely whipped they were as a result. Something tells me he'll have 'em ready to go this time. Belichick doesn't like to lose any game, be it pre, regular, or post season games. That spanking they got from Cincinnati last year was a good wake-up for them as a team, reminding them to not get too over confident and full of themselves. Everyone will be gunning for you. Same goes for this year.Man. Now that I've looked again at the pre-season lineup of games, I don't think any other team in the NFL has a tougher one scheduled! We start it off with the Super Bowl Champs Patriots, then take it a bit easier facing the defensively tough Washington Redskins, then the other Super Bowl team (and possibly without T.O.) Philly, then close it as usual with the offensive powerhouse Indianapolis Colts. That's the most important game of them all in my eyes. Especially if the team wants the fast start they've been alluding to. The team needs to hit the ground running on Sunday September 11th in Cleveland, and a win against Peyton Manning and the Colts a week before that would be just the ticket to do it! :player:
TippCityRick
I'll be watching the run defense, especially the D line not getting knocked off the ball. I have questions about Justin on the left being big enough to not wear down with the bigger, but less athletic righ tackle. I also have questions about Geathers on the right being big enough period. It would also be nice if Landon hits the holes from the strong side and Odell flashes in the middle. I expect both of these gentlemen to make a few assignment errors, but would like to see them make these mistakes at 100 mph so they're not just sitting back and waiting. On O, I also want to see Perry flash cuz Rudi can't run 360 times again this year and be effective. I'm also looking forward to Chris Henry getting free and watching Andrews pass block.
walshfan
Im like the rest of you ....I want to see Chris Perry gain big yards running and catching....with no side effectsI want to see Robert Geathers have his big hands in Brady's face and get sacksI want to see Chris Henry leap up and catch a TD pass when the team is in the red zone...I want to see Odell Thurman stop Dillon in his tracks a few times.I want to see Stacy Andrews pancake his opponent more than onceFinally I want to see Pollack on the sidelines and a part of the team....Go Bengals
The Big Orange
Anthony Mitchell...this is the most interesting position battle to me.Robert Geathers...If he gonna get double digit sacks this year he needs to get warmed up this week and make my 8 hour drive worth it...not to mention the $22 I spent on the tickets...ebayChris Perry...the new difference maker on O this year...he will be 10 times more valuable than Chris Henry will be this year, if he can stay healthyStacy Andrews...I'd actually enjoy seeing him eat an opposing linemens helmet offOdell Thurman...1 concussion to go, pleaseAny of you morons...came and see me...Section 114, row 11...phone # 678.677.4107 I'll be the fat, bald guy with earings looking very reverent
The_Next_Big_Thing
I'd also like to checkout the Bramlet/Krenzel battle as i think one may be a long time backup as Kitna's paycheck is quite high. . Kitna's price tag is actually quite LOW for a veteran of his years who is as comfortable in the offense as he is. It is quite low for a guy who is as good in teaching the younger guys as he is. It is exceptionally low for a guy with his presence in the locker room.
