Spain Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Well this is going to screw his mobility, so much for losing 20 pounds to be more mobile. How do you think this will affect his play? Quote
joshh967 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Do you have an article where you saw this at? Quote
Spain Posted August 3, 2005 Author Report Posted August 3, 2005 Braced , on the sign Polak thread.enqurier, how do you post a link! Quote
skyline Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Here's the quote:BRACED:Quarterback Carson Palmer wore a brace on his left knee during practice Tuesday. He suffered a ligament sprain in the left knee in Game 13 last year at New England, forcing him to miss the rest of the season."I'm just getting used to it," Palmer said of the brace after practice. "I'm wearing it every couple of practices. I'm going to wear it this year for games. It'd be kind of hard just to put it on before Game 1."I don't think it'll be a big deal at all. I'm sure it's nothing too bulky. Just firm material with some padding. I used to wear one for basketball, and once I got used to it I never knew it was there. Quote
joshh967 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Yea, i think once he gets use to it being on. He shouldn't have to much trouble. wearing a brace does not effect your mobility that much. Just enough so he doesn't reinjure the same spot again. Quote
derekshank Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 It won't be too bad. I've had reconstructive knee surgery, and I'm supposed to wear a knee brace when I play basketball or football. It's really not too bad. Especially running straight ahead. All it really does it keep the knee from bending in ways it shouldn't. All normal knee movement is still there. Quote
Black'n'Orange Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 It will be fine. They are very light weight, and not that cumbersome :player: Quote
DontTakeAkili Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 The brace might even improve his running. If he feels like the brace is protecting him, he might be more apt to scoot downfield for a first down (and then hopefully get out of bounds). It's kind of like the ankle-tape mentality, or Rip Hamilton continuing to wear that face guard for the Pistons. Quote

jrandom42 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Well this is going to screw his mobility, so much for losing 20 pounds to be more mobile. How do you think this will affect his play? A brace that restricts Carson's mobility THAT much? How 1970's! These days, the braces are so much lighter and less bulky that they're almost like science fiction compared to the 20 lb monsters Joe Namath used to wear. Quote

Stripes Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 I don't see a knee brace really being an issue worth note. Even if Palmer lost weight in the offseason for more moblility, he is still a pocket quarterback. I can't imagine the Brat running more plays that suit a mobile quarterback, at least not many more. Palmer made a name for himself last year by standing tough in the pocket and making all the throws with defenses bearing down on him. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Actually, Rip wears that face mask cause if he breaks his nose one more time he will no longer have any cartilidge in there, but your concept is right Quote

True, but should he stay in the pocket if he's getting chased down? Quote
kingwilly Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 Spain rulez! Buddy, you crack me up. Quote
Stripes Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 True, but should he stay in the pocket if he's getting chased down? Haha, yes, I'd hope if nobody is open, and taking a sack is out of the question, that he would run. That is where I think the better mobility will be an advantage. Quote

Bledsoe, the best at taking sacks... Quote

Spain Posted August 3, 2005 Author Report Posted August 3, 2005 Palmer is way more mobile than Bledsoe ever thought about, Give me the seventies anyday! I even like the clothes! Quote
lando griffin Posted August 3, 2005 Report Posted August 3, 2005 I think Palmer even wore a knee brace at USC for some time....Find the guy on this forum who has a picture of Carson at USC on the cover of SI for his sig... you can see the brace in the pic, so maybe he's somewhat accustomed to them already...
