What will it take?

ok if you love the bengals and follow them you obviously know we have the talent to beat anyone. But there is this team in new england that has it too. What I am saying is yes New Engald is great but so are we.

The Bengals are capable of having the offense the Rams had with warner faulk bruce and holt. But we have palmer R. Johnson C. Johnson J. Johnson P.Dub K.Washington Housh Henry and lets name our line compared to there line we have anderson and jones steinbach and williams and braham.

The pats lost Patten which was a key loss and who knows if someone can fill his shoes. But Our Defense if they can come together is as even in talent as there's we have simmons smith robinson thornton williams james and oneal. But they do have a spot we dont have and thats another defensive end.

Clemons or powell has to step up and become a play maker for this team if we wanna stop new england from going to detroit.

If the Patriots get to the AFC championship there has to be cheating involved. No way they are that good this year. They didn't draft well, they lost some key players, and both coordinators. They still have talent but they can't keep up what they have done forever. I am surprised they were able to plug players in the def backfield and not miss a beat. Someone has to figure out how to beat them bastards.

A little improvement in defense the Bengals could have beat them during the regular season. I think the INTs was the difference. Palmer's knee injury ended the game.

To unseat the Patriots you'll need to get rid of their brain trust (their OC and DC) as well as both starting inside backers, the heart of their defense . . . . Oh! Hey! Now wait a minute!

In recent years, I have noticed a trend. "The Patriots have taken so many hits in so many places, there's no way they make a deep playoff run." If there is any team out there that makes that statement void, it's the Patriots. "Their secondary will be overrun without Ty Law" void....."Brady's numbers will suffer without Branch" void.... I do agree, losing the coordinators will be the biggest thing to overcome, but nonetheless, if the Patriots don't at least make it to the divisional round and give their playoff opponent the game of their lives, I will be shocked. I expect them to get a first round bye and contend for homefield advantage. (again <_< )

If any team besides the obvious contenders (Colts, Steelers, blah blah blah) can unseat the dynasty, I'm confident it's the Bengals. They have the talent and the drive to beat anybody, but it all of courses hinges on that defense. Pollack, get your arse signed so we can all stop saying that so much.

Exactly. I think the sum of their recent off the field circumstances will end up doing what most NFL teams have been unable to accomplish on the field. Return the Patriots back down to earth.

You have to love what the Patriots have done with that organization, regardless of you liking them or not. I can remember following the Patriots and Bucs when I was younger then as they went on to win the SB, it was less fun rooting for them. I guess I always loved the underdog and seeing a team that has never won, WIN. I'm still a Saints fan as well and think they are due. Funny how after a team wins the SB people become less enamored with them, unless of course it is YOUR team.

WHODEY !!!

Was it just me seeing mirages or did the Bengals pretty well shred the Patriots in preseason and during most of the regular season until Palmer got hurt?

To unseat the Patriots, it's going to be simple but not easy. Cut down on game changing mistakes. Let Palmer, Chad and TJ exploit the Patriots pass defense. Run the ball for positive yards, not huge yards, but enough to set up the play action. Stop Corey Dillon. Force the Patriots' offense into 3rd and 5 or longer. Make Brady throw off of three step drops. Keep Vinatari on the sidelines.

All of these are important, but if the Bengals cut down on turnovers and mistakes, I think the Patriots are going to lose head to head against them.

I think the Bengals can beat the Pats, but I don't think they could stop Peyton and the Colts. I'm not sweating the Steelers. Ben is going to miss Plaxico, and the Bus and Staley don't scare me. They are always tough, but they have off season's.

The Steelers passing game is not what hurt us last year. It was their D and their running game. They still have those two things in tact. Let's by pass the Steelers and Ravens before we get to the Pats and Colts.
