kingwilly
DPM...your insults don't work with me..."maybe try watching football"? Dude, get real. Fast is relative....If 40 times were what mattered, then there would be a whole lot of players that would never get a shake. If Wilson was "the slowest RB in the league" that only tells me that maybe his other skill make up for that "fact". Rudi's 40 times from the combine were 4.65, slower than Wilson. Do I think Rudi is fast, yes.Lamont Jordan ran a 4.37. Does lamont play faster than Rudi? Not to me, when I watch.Notables from the recent past.Jamal Lewis - timed at 4.58 at one combine, then 4.38 at another. So is he fast or FAST?Ron Dayne - 4.5 and we know how great he turned out.Curtis keaton ran in the 4.4's and is no where.Deshaun Foster -4.52 - seems faster than that on TV William Green 4.58 - seemd fast in personJosh Scobey - 4.42 David Allen 4.39 -who? DontPushMe
Uh, fool, i didnt say he sucked because hes slow. All I said was he wasnt fast, you tried to use his speed as an advantage, but I corrected you, I didnt even know what his 40 time was, I just remember watching him get run down from behind and play slow in college. And i never said he was the slowest in the league, I said he was ONE of the slowest in the league. There is a difference. And yes, LaMont Jordan plays faster than Rudi, im not sure what you are watching, but he does. If you think Rudi Johnson is a fast runningback, you really need to learn what fast is. RJ is many things, I will give him credit that hes a good power runner (except when it matters, like him coming up short on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1s, but lets not get into that). But he is far from a fast runner. Also, I really hate it when people take crappy players who ran fast 40 times and try to use them as an example of why 40 times mean nothing. I could easily put together a huge list of slow 40 time players who were nothing in the NFL.
andybren
On the value of 40 speeds...I recall somebody on this board (or perhaps elsewhere) pointing out that David Pollack didn't have a spectacular time in the 40, but on the field he didn't have a problem catching Matt Jones from behind. Jones, you'll recall is the Arkansas QB/WR/TE who got drafted in the first round because he posted 4.37 in the 40.
