Don't count on Perry....#$@%

This is just upsetting. I know its an injury but come on man. From his interviews in the new the last few day I am getting the notion that he isn't even in shape. I hope not, but here are some of his interviews:

From the Dayton Daily News:

"I'm anxious to get back on the field, anxious to get in shape," said Perry, who endured two offseason hernia surgeries.

From Bengals.com:

"I haven't been able to do much," Perry said. "I was in better shape (last year) than I am now after laying around for awhile."

I don't count on much for C.Perry this year. He's already off to a bad start.

It's pretty hard to get yourself into top shape while recovering from a hernia...

Have you had one? I have and the doc said don't lift anything over 60lbs. I would think one could stay in some what of shape (cardiovascular).

However, I would guess it depends on the severaity of the hernia.

I'm just dissapointed that Perry is in the same deal as he was last year, thats all.

There is a big difference between shape to you, and shape to an NFL football player. Nice try with this post though man, but you are reaching, and everyone knows it.

I wouldn't be to concerned if he is ready or not. The Bengals played more then half the season last year without him and a they still had a fine running attack. He hasn't proven himself yet to be a worth while backup or even 3rd string. When he does get healthy and shows what he can do, then I would be concerned.

ya u are really reaching. with his injury he was unable to do anythnig for atleast 6 months...now hes been what, riding the bike and running straight? maybe doing some universal but thats about it. he hasnt been able to lift heavy at all. give him training camp, he'll be in shape.

must u ppl find stupid s**t to bitch about?

Really...The guy had sports hernias. Not exactly something you can try and stay in shape with. I would rather have him sitting around until he got healthy rather then risk hurting him even more. Give him a break

In interview I heard he said that he was only allowed to ride a bike and he didn't think that was getting him into "football" shape. AND, I agree with him.

I too am holding my breath -- I'm having flash backs of Ki Jana Carter and waiting for the next injury.

Perry is a good running back (and that is hard for a Buckeye Alum to admit).

Q: What did you think of Chris Perry?

ML: I thought he did a good job.

Q: Chris Perry says he feels about 70 percent physically healthy. Do you expect him to participate in all of the practices?

ML: Yes.

Actually more than one. It was a double hernia, and I couldn't walk for well over a year! :(

BTW...I should probably add that I couldn't walk before the hernia either. :o I was just over a year old. I guess I blame it on my mother for fitting cloth diapers way too tight on me with those monster pins! With no spare room for the inevitable "Torpedo Launch," I overstressed my grunter trying to force the projectile clear of the blocked launch tube!

As far as Ol' "Two Carry," his holdout for more $$$ is beginning to seem more and more pre-planned. It's like he knew deep down he wasn't tough enough for the NFL, and he better get all the money he could, as soon as he could. He'll make a good agent in a few years I suppose. <_<

From Bengals.com ...

Perry, last year’s first-rounder, had just two carries last year because of a deep abdominal pull that resulted in two sports hernia surgeries. The last one didn’t happen until the spring, shelving him for all of May and June, and he was clearly nervous about his first action in eight months.

“I was happy to get out and do some quick movements and not feel any pain,” Perry said. “There were a few times I had cut-backs and caught the ball and turning some ways (that) felt good so far.”

Perry twisted to make a one-handed grab on one errant pitch on a sweep, and another time he went low to pick one off the ground and neither time did he hesitate or pull up. And certainly there was nothing like the pain he once described like a knife going through his pelvis.

But Perry admitted he’s not pain-free yet, and that he’s about 70 percent there.

“I have to get my endurance right, my muscles right, my feet and quickness back. It’s a work in progress,” he said.

But it’s a work that impressed running backs coach Jim Anderson, who also liked how Perry cut and pounded the ball inside. Although Perry says the coaches won’t put him into the fire, Anderson and Lewis said, as far as they know, Perry is going to participate in all practices. How he is managed through the process will play out, but like Perry said, “We’ll see if it keeps getting better. So far, so good.”

So far, so good ...

...and so far he hasn't taken a single solid hit either has he? Don't kid yourself. That's the test. Not running or catching. Most of us here could go out there and do a little running and catching ourselves...as long as they weren't hitting us either, we'd look half decent too! <_<

A Good Evening/Morning to you gentlemen,

Just arrived home from the sunny sweaty beautiful Cancun. Mexico. Fresh off of a honeymoon.

The reason I am posting in this thread is I talked to Chris Perry's brother at my resort! I am dog tired now, but I will post the whole drunken conversation, as I can remember it, tomorrow in between returning crock pots to Walmart. Let's just say Mr Perry will not be making an impact any time soon if what his sibling tells me is accurate. I guess he wouldn't make sh*t up?

Be back tomorrow, and it's good to be home. :D

Well, well, well. If this does turn out to be true, it's going to be extremely difficult for Perry to win the starting job away from Rudi like has been predicted by someone around here.

I wish dont I could push remember his me name!

Put me in the "there's no need to rush with Perry" camp. Slow walk him this year since you have Rudi and Watson. Guys on the other Bengals board who went down there friday say he looks like the best player on the field right now in shorts. They say he looks fast. So what if he doesnt play this year he's a workhorse back when healthy, didnt he carry 52 times in one game against OSU?
