Kazkal Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 i want a gif of the bengal storm trooper doing that Quote
BlackJesus Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 You have to be kidding me....His rating after getting the hang of things was over 100, and he showed that not even a 3 TD deficit with 1 quarter to go, against a top 5 D is enough to hold him down. The 6'5 Howitzer has the strongest arm in the NFL, and will throw for over 4,000 yds.Kitna... is a great backup.... over on the sideline giving encouragment and reading psalms where he belongs. Quote
Rimington over Marino Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 QB is only as good as the team around him. The line and receivers were terrible to start the season. Defensively giving up 193 yards to Curtis Martin lost the 1st game. Warrick's injury hurt too. Quote
WorldBFree Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Nobody's mentioning that Kitna didn't exactly set the world on fire. He threw a pick to Troy Brown on what would have been the game tying drive vs. New England. He completely stunk vs. Buffalo in arguably the most importand game of the year. The only bright spots came vs. a weak Giants team and the Eagles third stringers. The reason Kitna hasn't tried to go to another team is because he knows he's best suited to be a backup. Quote
Stripes Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Yes, Palmer did some great things toward the ned of his season, but still, I saw room for improvement. His last 6 games I believe he had 13 TDs and 8 INTS. As far as passer rating goes, those are excellent numbers. 8 INTs in 6 games is not a good thing (though 3 did come in that wacky Browns game). From what I saw last year, I expect Palmer to have a statistical year similar to Kitna in 2003, if not a little improved. 25-30 TDs and 15-20 INTs with 3700-4000 yards. Quote

No one is saying that there isn't room for improvement. There clearly is. He's in his third year. He showed enough in long enough stretches last year that most of us are yearning like hell to see the next step. The question to start this thread was whether anyone was "concerned". The consensus seems to be a pretty big "hell no" on the "concerned" front. There seems to be more anticipation as we wait to see CP make the next step than "concern". That is all very different than "room for improvement". Pretty much every player has "room for improvement". Quote

schweinhart Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 I'll answer that in one word: Hellf**kingno! In fact I'm more concerned about cat box odor! There should be no concern about CP performance wise.My only doubt is whether or not he can play hurt because at some point whether this year or next or whenever, he's gonna have to suck it up and go for the Bengals to be contenders.Last year vs. Pats was what gives me doubts about whether or not he can do it. No doubt CP is a tough QB and the hit Seymour laid on him was a definite knee twister. But the playoffs were still on the line. Hobble around on one leg if he has to. Run every thing off a 3 step drop. Nail gun his ACL to his kneecap. Whatever it takes.WIN NOW Quote
walshfan Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Instead of concern Im encouraged by knowing he's going into this season with experience....He'll put up even better numbers this season.....Hey its better than having Trent Dilfer in camp right? Quote

Concerned was Gus Ferrotte winning the starting job. Palmer will be as good or better than the last few games he played last season and that is good enough for his third year(second playing). Quote

Not really fair to question Palmer's desire to suck it up on that one since he was said to be very disappointed in the coaches decision to shelve him in favor of Kitna. Pretty sure Palmer lobbied to get back into the Pats game and was still making some noise about gutting it up until Kitna tanked it up in the Buffalo game. After that loss, well....might as well save it for the golf course. Quote
