Bengals and Koren Robinson?

Defender

Recommended Posts

I know this is old, but I was looking at ESPN's "NFL Rumor Central" and way down at the bottom (dated July 6) is a blurb on K. Robinson's future being unclear. But in the "Interested" section where they usually put teams down who are interested in the player, they've got the Bengals?!?! WTF?

If this was already covered in another thread, my bad. But I had no clue the Bengals were even thinking about talking to this clown. I haven't heard anything about this recently and wanted to make sure I didn't miss something...

If the guy ever straightens himself out, he's a very good WR. A #2 on a lot of teams at his best with a high ceiling.

If the article was written pre-draft I can see where the Bengals might've had some luke warm interest - but post-draft and two drafted WR's later - I'm sure this is no longer an issue.

He would be a great addition to the team. If he ever gets his act together hed be an excellent #2 to Chad Johnson.

........right

someone who drops passes and might be suspended for the entire 2005 season because he's an alcoholic, and will add to an already overcrowded WR stable would be a GREAT addition :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think a lot of you forget how good he was in his 2nd season. Hes extreemely fast and has good size. He did drop quite a few passes last year but so did Chad (not as many, but he still had his share of drops). All im saying is he would be a good addition because he could be had for probly close to the league minimum, would be good for competition in camp, and if he can get his act together, like getting rid of the drugs and concentrating more on catching passes, he would have more potential then any WR we have besides CJ and maybe Henry. I understand you guys might not be a huge fan of the guy but dont write him off like hes nothing. Hes only 25, has already had a 1200+ yard receiving season, and knows that his chances are almost gone, hed come into camp giving 110%.

Sorry, he IS nothing. He had one good year, because he was the only option on the offense that year. Chad's drops are too high ACCORDING TO CHAD ONLY.

TJ is twice the receiver this asshat is.

I think this team, specifically the offense, has a good balance of chemistry the way it is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. K. Robinson would add competition, but he needs a situation where he could work his way up to #1 on the depth chart. He'd never have that here because Chad has it locked down for as long as he wants it. And you could argue that he wouldn't be the #2 man because you're not going to pay TJ-type money to a #3 reciever. SanFran came close to signing him, but didn't do it because of the PR backlash of their training video still looming.

Talent wise, I have to agree with Pushy(I can't believe I typed that  ) He is way more talented than TJ, who I personally think is was overhyped by us(the fans I mean) TJ plays hard which can make up for some ability, but talent wise TJ is just a guy

I really don't know why this is such a big deal, what interest we might have had is probably gone and I can't think of one scenario where he ends up in stripes.

Tj is all Palmer and Chad. He has good hands but that is all. Kudos to him for advancing with hard work but I cant see him lasting along starting beside Chad. Look what happened to Stokely, he will get way more credit than he deserves (like Stokely). He is just a smart diciplined player who is short on talent!

Hey Spain did you see any clips last year. TJ can make a 5 yard catch into a 20 yard reception. This guy can break tackles. He didn't start out great but if he did there is a possibility he would have had a 1200 yard season. And did you see the hit during the Pat's game that TJ took. That was one of the hardest hits I've seen a WR take and he walked it off like it was nothing. He also took a cheap shot in the back that game; didn't effect him. For anybody to say this guy did not deserve the money the Bengal's gave him is retarted. TJ is by far the most durable WR we have on the team.

no way. tj is fine. chris henry will be great in due time. koren is a buster who will never live up to his abilities. tab perry is more valuble than koren would be.

1. Koren Robinson has real talent.

2. Koren Robinson has heretofore demonstrated the self-control of a 2 year old in a candy store with no supervision.

3. Koren Robinson has 3 DUIs in the last couple of years.

4. The Bengals have zero need at WR.

5. This story is either four months old or the product of mentally challenged monkeys tossing their feces at a board and teams of interest being assigned based on where the stuff lands.

Well, I agree with DPM on this issue, it happens.

Robinson would be a great fit here if Warrick and/or Washington left - TJ would have a hard time keeping him in the #3 spot.

Robinson has big problems with alcohol though and you don't just shake that out of someone overnight. He would almost literally have to sit out this season and go into inpatient rehab and turn his life over to some whacky religion for a year or so before he'd convince me that he's worth a shot.

Don't need any more Rembert's here, those days should be over with.

I would probably take Koren over Washington just because of his immense talent. However, I wouldn't take him with all the problems surrounding him right now. The Bengals already have 5 good receivers; to take Koren would mean to drop one of our current receivers. He would probably be a great #2 in Cincinnati eventually, but we can't waste our cap space on more receivers when there are many other positions that need to be upgraded first. Don't get greedy.
