The_Next_Big_Thing
I think we should trade Jon Kitna for Casey Bramlet for insurance in case he hires Drew Rosenfag.

HoosierCat
Thanks, that was really necessary.Congrats. You got my point. What was that? That you believe discussing the implications of an actual news report on Chad Johnson and making up pointless threads about Carson Palmer's contract are the same thing? That the way you cry every time someone says something remotely negative about the team suggests that your faith in their potential isn't very strong? We have had the CJ/Rosenhaus discussion this off-season. Many times. If you want to start another one off of Ludwig's column, fine, but, hey, the one from Spain was beyond overkill. Do what you want, endlessly keep stuff stirred up, that's fine. If you are trying to run me off, I guess that's OK too. I had originally thought that this board was a place to have general discussions about the Bengals without the ceasless negativitiy that infects so many other boards. I see I was wrong. Carry on. Who?
The plague of negativity infects this board, it's just disgusting.

Oh, please. This board is about as negative as the average Family Channel Christmas special. As for the Chad/Rosenhaus story, yup, we talked about it when it first came up, then Chad went on record saying there was no problem, and the subject faded into the archives. And it would have stayed there if Chad Johnson himself had not gone on the freaking radio and dredged it all back up again. You said you wanted real news to chew over, well, there ya go.And as for Spain's thread, hey, they only thing that kept it alive in the first place was all the kvetching about how dumb the thread was. If a topic annoys you, why feed it?

If a topic annoys you, why feed it? Your thread was timely and newsworthy joisey. I certainly never said it wasn't. Spain's thread was overkill, and you are right, I should have let it lie. I do ignore far more than you think I do, by the way. The responses saying it was a future worry and not worth getting upset over right now are not wrong any more than people worrying about it now is wrong. It is what it is. When Chad signed with Evil Incarnate, a contract issue was inevitable at some point. The good news is that it did not come this off-season. For that I am grateful to Chad. If he chooses to hold out next year, that will make me less grateful to Chad, although somewhere inside I will have to admit I understand. I don't like that part of the business landscape of the NFL, but it is what it is.I am excited about this upcoming season, the most excited I have been in a very long time. No apologies to make for that excitment. It is nice to have something legitimate to look forward to again.
Kirkendall
I think there is an over-all problem with the NFL -- and no, I don't blame Drew Rosenhaus for doing his job. He found a niche, and the NFL allows it. So if there's a problem with Drew, take it up with those that make the rules, not the one that exposes it (for NASCAR fans, see Crew Cheifs and rulebooks). You have those that just wish athletes would honor their contract, not ruffle feathers, and strengthen the over-all NFL structure -- keeping the big picture of the league and its teams strong and in command. Then you have those that agree someone should be paid for their work based on how others perform at that position -- while not a popular option in real life, it seems the sympathy banter holds here.Does anyone think there will be a work stoppage when the CBA expires? If it's true there will be no salary cap in '07, and all players are free agents (as threatened by Upshaw), is there any doubt the owners will lock the players out? Thoughts?
