Scottishbengal Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 I can't remember if this topic has been done before, but between now and the fantasy football draft and the season kick-off I need something to fill my time - so I've dug out some old vinyl albums (hey kids, that's what we oldies had back in the days of steam-powered record players, long before CD's/MP3's had ever been thought of) and re-lived some happy memories. Here are my top 5, no partciular order, what's yours? (c'mon, give us some insight into what makes your feet tap).Motorhead - OrgasmatronThe Partisans - The PartisansThe Long Ryders - Native SonsAnti-Pasti - The Last CallThe Pogues - Red Roses For Me Quote

ArmyBengal Posted July 8, 2005 Report Posted July 8, 2005 I have a boatload of music and love so many different types, it's hard to pick just five albums, so I will name groups or singers as they may have multiple albums I love equally:Led ZepelinOzzy/Black SabbathStaindMetallicaAnthraxI could go on and on and might like the Doors more later on today or maybe the Beatles. Then there is always Megadeth, the Doobie Brothers, or Pink Floyd. I like some rap, country, and classical as well, but would not say they are my favorites. This is to hard !!!WHODEY !!! Quote

They HAVE to get a top 5 album. But then again so do a TON of other groups. This is just way too hard.Although Nevermind was a great album, I probably wouldn't call it my favorite. I'd vote for either Incesticide or Unplugged. Quote

Best Dylan song:Tangled up in Blue. I had to break out the vinyl and listen to it! Hmmm, I don't know about "best". It's hard to take a musical career as vast as his and narrow it down to 1 absolutely BEST album. A top 10 might cut it, but even that'd be very difficult... Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 I like KCRW.Not bad at all! Certainly different. Into my favorites she goes! What I really like about KCRW is that it is the only "professional" radio station I know of that plays music that is outside the the norm, but still good music. Almost all the regular radio stations will just play the boring high rotation stuff and never break any new ground. You can get some good music on college stations, but most of the times there's a lot of bad music to go along with the good. Anyway, KRCW has a crazy blend of rock and pop along with electronica, house, urban, a pinch of post punk, ska, downtempo or acid jazz and even a little hip hop around the edges. And if you listen long enough you might find them play an older trip hop track or even a jazz standard. But the music is chosen so well that they can go back and forth and across genres and it doesn't feel jerky. Nothing ever really feels out of place. And the interviews on "Morning Becomes Eclectic" are enough of a reason to listen. It was those interviews over the years that introduced me to Ozomatli, Bloc Party, Wilco, Norah Jones, Brazilian Girls, Zero 7 and many others. I'll shut up now and let this thread get back to being about top 5 albums or whatever it's about. Quote
