You just don't get fan/player interaction with any of the major four sports like you do with NASCAR.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Kurt Busch helped some of the 200,000 fans traveling to Daytona International Speedway arrive safely for this weekend's Pepsi 400 race.

In an initiative promoting Smirnoff Ice's "Be Smart, Drink Responsibly" campaign, Busch partnered with a local automotive repair shop in Daytona Beach to provide free automobile safety tests during the heavily traveled summer months. The Las Vegas native and his pit crew checked tire pressure, headlights, fluid levels, belts, and performed a host of other tests.

"With the summer holidays upon us and everyone doing so much traveling, this was a great opportunity for us to give back to fans and remind folks how important it is to be smart and drink responsibly," Busch said.

Busch's No. 97 car will feature a Smirnoff Ice paint scheme on Sunday in the Pepsi 400.
