joseph Posted June 30, 2005 Report Posted June 30, 2005 Mr. Jermi Johnson!!!!!!! Job well done!! You are the first official winner of the Joey This award is given to the player that I feel best represents the qualities of dedication, perserverance and hard work in the Bengals orginization. Hell of a job guy. You have moved light years beyond where you were last year at this same time as both a player and a person. What you did as far as your conditioning is commendable. I'm sure that you have put in countless hours of hard work and sacrifice to get in the your current physical condition. You've gone above and beyond all expectations. Truly you efforts are an example to all of us that with a dedication, perserverance and hard work in any aspect of life that good will follow. I salute you sir, and am officially going on a diet today to lose the extra pounds I've put on. I guess it's only fair. If I can lambast you last offseason for being out of shape and fat, I sure as hell better follow your example or risk being a hippocit. Unfortunately this award doesn't come with any money, trophies, gift certificates or anything of that nature. What you did earn was a heck of a lot of respect from me, and I will officially be your PR represenative to do everything in my power to get your name out there and you into the Pro Bowl this season. So tell Brat to hook ya up with a few more carries and a few more passes, and good luck this season. Quote
joseph Posted July 1, 2005 Author Report Posted July 1, 2005 While I'm at it, I'll extend an official apologize to T.J. Houshmanzada for smack talkin on him last year. You really came through at the end of last season and changed my opinion of you as a football player. Congratulations on the new contract and I wish you continued success. Also congratulations to Rudi Johnson for the new contract. I wasn't always the biggest supporter of it, but that in no way was a slight on you. It was more or less my belief that running games are more a function of O-line play rather than a RB. I always love to be proven wrong though. Anywho, you went about it the right way and you bring a level of professionalism to the team that can't be measured in terms of stats. Also you both showed a level of commitment to this team and city by taking less money to stay in Da Nati. I'm sure it will pay off when you guys get a couple rings Quote
Rimington over Marino Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 Whatever makes you think he woulda got more money elsewhere? Quote
Chucktkd Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 We heard that same crap about him last preseason. Quote
jditty47 Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 last season we heard nothing on jeremi besides that he was injured and was gaining weight. this offseason is way better for him. Quote
CTBengalsFan Posted July 1, 2005 Report Posted July 1, 2005 Whatever makes you think he woulda got more money elsewhere? the G-men were prepared to offer him more money but the Bengals signed him the night before free agency started Quote
membengal Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 Whatever makes you think he woulda got more money elsewhere? Every report I saw had TJ making much better bank on the open market, Gints most notably. He took less to stay put. Quote
membengal Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 We heard that same crap about him last preseason. jditty could not be more correct. All we heard about jeremi last off-season was that he was woefully out of shape. Out of shape to the point that many of us were pointing to...I forget now, but a fullback they brought in to light a fire under his ass. This off-season has been night and day different.Nice thread Joseph. Quote
Irish Bengal Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 TJ was smart to except the Bengals offer because he is not a #1 WR.Look at Peirless Price, He was a #2 WR in Buffalo and has been a Flop as an #1 WR for Falcon's(Fortunately he doesn't have a QB to throw to him. Aka M. Vick) Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted July 2, 2005 Report Posted July 2, 2005 I nominate Mike Brown as Most Valuable President! He directed/allowed/whatever the organization to have the BEST draft I remember in many years, as well as loosening the teams purse strings to retain key players without bankrupting the organization.I'll go as far and say this may have been his BEST year. It will be hard to top the year he brought in Marvin Lewis! :player:BTW Big Orange, I hear this new "boy band" is looking for help. Can you bust a move with these guy's, or what? Quote

I never really noticed Mike Brown having a problem with "loosening the purse strings" as much as the fact that he did it with the wrong guys. He has never tried to be a bad owner, he's always wanted to win, he just badly needed a GM. His big mistake was believing that he could do it on his own.On the other hand, I think we have Katie Blackburn to thank for a lot of our post-Marvin Lewis success. I don't mean to slight Mike Brown, but it seems like Katie is more football savvy (or at least knows how to hire people who are). Quote
