Spain Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I was asking myself the other day how many players have what it takes to go to Canton? I thought about it a minute and came up with. Palmer Steinbach Chad so am I all screwed up here but these guys are our special players. So Bengaldom what do you think? Regards Spain Quote
CJBestInAFC Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I say David Pollack. He is going to be a great pro. Willie Anderson will make it too. Maybe Levi Jones, and I do think Wilkerson if he recovers from his injury will also be there. Quote
jditty47 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 if we win a superbowl - carson potentially, chad, willie. if we dont, no one but maybe willie. since we'll win more than one, all 3 ! :player: Quote
bengalsLB Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 palmer has the potencial , big willie mayby, chad if he keeps it up for another7 years, DP and madieu have the potencial also Quote
DontPushMe Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 the only one with a shot is Chad Johnson, but he needs to keep improving over the next few years and stick around performing at a high level untill he is at least 35 or 36, i really dont think any others will make it, Chad either if we dont at least get to a super bowlCorey Dillon will definitly go into the hall of fame, probly as a patriot though. Too bad Quote
andybren Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 I wonder what HOF voters will think of Leon once they see the team do better without him. Especially if the Patriots can't maintain a similar level of success. But anyway, let's keep in mind that in the first 35+ years of the team, there's only been one inductee. So it might be a little presumptuous to list off 3 or 4 candidates from the current roster. Quote
B24 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Corey Dillon will definitly go into the hall of fame, probly as a patriot though. Too bad He's no longer on the Bengals roster so keep him out of the discussion for once.I'd say Chad and Willie have the greatest shot at getting into the hall, but they will have to continue to improve. Just based on potential Palmer, Williams, and... Rudi. DPM Quote
UofLnMU Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 You don't go into the hall as a player of a team, just as a player--no cap to put on a plaque, just a bust of your head. I would love to see Chad or Willie enshrined, but if Canton hasn't called for Kenny or Boomer, I don't know if they will for any of our fine Bengals. Quote
HoosierCat Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 You don't go into the hall as a player of a team, just as a player True, but your team needs to be a winner, preferably of a Super Bowl. Getting into the Hall is as much a function of a player's popularity and name recognition as anything else, and unless you are an exceptional, once-in-a-generation type of player, you won't get enough of that playing on a poor or average team. Ken Riley deserves to be in the Hall. But he'll never get there; the team never got the big win, and now he's all but forgotten outside of Cincy. And that's a shame. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Carson Palmer, Big Willie, Chad Johnson, and Madieu Williams could go to the hall, IF, and only IF they continue to change the face of the Cincinnati Bengals from full time losers to full time winners. Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Unless someone is traded to SF, DAL, NYG, or PIT - nobody! Quote
The Big Orange Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 It's hard for me to say...and it's certainly not "My Call"...I mean I'm intimate with God and everything, but she doesn't tell me everything. But if I had to guess I'd say since God is a huge Bengals fan, that Dillon and Pickens are definately going. But as far as the current roster...ooooooh this is a toughie...as far as the Oracle can see...Jeremi Johnson has got some hidden stuff in his past not many people know about (killing small animals and the like)Kevin Kaesviharn fooled around with a senior back when he was a high school sub, she was 18 and legal, but I know God doesn't like that muchBut I'd have to say Nate Webster has the best chance of going to Hell since...What? Oh, the best chance of going to the Hall!!! Oh my bad, I have no idea...Chad...we'll see how Carson and Madeiu and Jumpy and Odell and Pollack do...none of them have had even one great season, what more several. Willie, no way...Steinbach and Levi maybe. Chad has to do what he has done in the last 2 about 5 more times. Quote
Spain Posted June 24, 2005 Author Report Posted June 24, 2005 Willie is going to sufffer from all those years that he should have gone to the probowl and didnt. Levi hasnt even got a probowl yet. If Chad keeps it up for 5 more years he will go. Pickens screwed himself out of it when he left cincy. Dillon might make it. If Steinbach makes the probowl this year he will have a good shot if he can become a perenial probowler. The thing that we need is a superbowl win and that will open the doors for guys like Kenny Anderson to get in. IMHO Quote
DontPushMe Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Corey Dillon will definitly go into the hall of fame, probly as a patriot though. Too bad He's no longer on the Bengals roster so keep him out of the discussion for once. Right, hes not, but hes also the only active player who spent the bulk of his career with the Bengals with a legitimate shot at the hall of fame. I see no reason not to mention him here. Quote
bengalsLB Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 i don't think wfe beaters should be aloud in the hall Quote
B24 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Right, hes not, but hes also the only active player who spent the bulk of his career with the Bengals with a legitimate shot at the hall of fame. I see no reason not to mention him here. It'd just be nice not to see you bring Dillon into 90% of the threads you post in especially when the thread is about players on our current roster. If you want to talk about Dillon getting into the Hall start another thread or add a post to the hundreds that are already out there about Dillon. Quote
HairOnFire Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Corey Dillon will definitly go into the hall of fame, probly as a patriot though. Right, hes not, but hes also the only active player who spent the bulk of his career with the Bengals with a legitimate shot at the hall of fame. I see no reason not to mention him here. I agree. Dillon has a better than average shot at going to the HOF. And if he does go he can say whatever he wants about the Bengal franchise during the induction, but as of right now he'd be included largely because of the things he did as a Bengal. In fact, if his career ended right now almost everyone...myself included....would consider Dillon a career Bengal, and thus a Bengal HOF player. Dillon will need several more outstanding seasons as a Patriot before most people will consider him a career Patriot. Probably at least two and maybe as many as four if the Patriot championship run is over. Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Just to indulge, Dillon will have to have close to five more great seasons to make it, Definitely has to crack at least 13,000I know your religious and all Big O, but I bet you'd be fun to get hammered with! Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Someone has to NOMINATE you to go to the hall, and Dillon has offended so many people in the business that he will have a hard time getting a nomination. Quote
7/11 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 willie needs another 3/4 years at his pace, but he needs it in conjunction with a contending bengal team to get notice. i could see carson making it, so long as we keep weapons around him and protect him. chad will make it at this pace, easily. levi or steinbach both need injury-free careers in the same contending franchise. other than those, it's too early to say. Spain Posted June 24, 2005 Author Report Posted June 24, 2005 Not to rag on DPM but how can he sneak dillon in on every post. 7/11 I think you hit yhe nail on the head. Ecept M. williams might have an outstanding career also. Quote
The Big Orange Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, (is that 7?)Well, I haven't been hammered since breakfast, but to the best of my knowledge, my wife only laughed the first time I knocked over the Cheerios...I actually enjoy a nice tawny port (Portugeuse wine is my favorite-of course).Besides Chad, I honestly think that Jumpy Geathers II has as good a chance as anybody in going to the hall. He didn't play all that much at the beginning of the season, but towards the end he was really pouring it on. The boy can play. But Madeiu is by far our 2nd best player on the team right now. If you are the backup FS the number of snaps you play this year...4 Quote
7/11 Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 man, i love madieu...i was sportin wood after i saw we drafted him last year. the guy, at maryland, was a hawk. he reeked of "playmaker", along with keiwan. i had a madieu jersey made for last season before it even started. i am all about madieu...BUT, it's too early to say. we just aren't accustomed to having that athletic of defenders on our team. he is gonna be great, no doubt, but he's goin into his soph. year and has a long way to go before we talk about hall of fame. there is only one bengal in there right now, if that tells you anything.
