If the Bengals win the NFC North they will have taken a huge step forward. I can't imagine it but it may be true...Has anyone every won two divisions at the same time? And in opposing conferences, no less. That Marvin really has his s**t together, I'd say.

You know you didnt do anything productive in the offseason when a 5th round tackle that looks to be a career backup is a "Major Addition"

You know that you are Looking Real Hard, for ANY reason to dis the Team, when you Jump on the fact that a 5th rounder was included on a list, that he shouldn't have been on.

And by the way ...

You sure as hell know that you didn't Lose Any Production when your "Major Subtractions" are:

Kyle Richardson; who had already lost his job to Kyle Larson last year.

Dennis Weathersby; who, sad to say, never really had a job here.

Kevin Hardy; who was no longer able to do the job.

Tony Williams; who never could do the job.

Seems to me that we added Three Blue-Chip Prospects, some Much Needed Depth at OC and an unspectacular but rather key free-agent.

Other teams brought in more new players than we did, but them again, they also lost more than we did.

On balance, with the possibly exception of the RatBirds, I think that the other teams in our division actually ended up with a net lost from this years FA market.

The Bengals, on the other hand, were able to re-sign all of their own key free agents and to sign a new guy to fill in at DT.

And while Robinson certainly isn't any superstar, at least he is an actual upgrade to the guy he is replacing.

All and all, the Bengals have done Ok for themselves over this off season ...

And it looks like they will be in good shape for next year's off season with no starters who will be unrestricted free agents.

It looks like Peter Warrick will be the only one who might command a big contract and that is only if he has a break out year this season.

Matt Schobel

Tony Stewart

Marcus Wilkins

The Bengals should be in good position to be a bigger player in next years FA market IF that is what they Choose to do ...

Didn't improve? Carson will be better and the draft albeit on paper has brought some good players. I think we all will be pleasantly suprised by Bryan Robinson.

I know I want to be optimistic. I think we are capable of 12-4. This thread is full of optimism. Good things must happen everywhere.

1) Palmer must drastically cut down on INTs. He should the more comfortable he gets.

2) Is Robinson a big improvement over T Williams and Langston Moore? All were late round draft picks. When did Robinson start before?

3) I have to laugh when I read that anyone on the current Bengals is a good run stuffer. The run defense is pathetic, has been for years, and it wasn't all Hardy and Williams fault. When I see it, I will believe it.

4) 2 rookie LBs, untested and unproven in the NFL, instantly make this a great defense. Again I want to see proof.

I remember how it was turned around from the seasons before to the Super Bowl years. We do not have to improve that much. Last year if you turn around a play or 2 in the losses it is a completely better season. Just have to improve in all areas.

It's something called player development DPM, obviously Marvin believes that this year Carson will be much better, Chad, Rudi, Madieu, etc. to make a playoff run..If you weren't so pessimistic maybe you would see it

You normally have 4 types of posters

1.)The Homer(70% of the forum)

2.)The Hater (5% of the forum normly a fan of a different team)

3.)The realistic fan(20% They wish for there team to do well their realistic about it.

4.)The lurker 5%(Someone who just reads the board but barley posts)

I would think that every Bengals Fan is Painfully Aware of the past 14 years or so ...

What I fail to see is, just how is it that past performance, which has no direct relationship to the present state of the team, should be accepted as a legitimate excuse for uncalled for attacks on the team now ?

Troll-Like-Shot-In-The-Dark posts, leveled against the team, do NOT balance a DAMN thing ...

People on this board have never been shy in Challenging any Homer-Like posts that pop up.

You want Balance ...

Well then, maybe people should also be just as quick to Call Out any Cheap-Shot-Nonsensical posts that pop up against the team.

IMHO we don't need folks around here being allowed to just take Free-Shots at the team.

If someone attacks the team, with a post that is pure nonsense, people should be able to challenge that post.

After all this is a Bengals board ...

His stuff is old and everyone knows it. Once in 100 posts he makes a point without reference to his male lover. I guess we all have to suffer through the other 99 to get to that one, but IMO it ain't worth it.

id pass a j around with DPM. Terry says hes good people so i says hes good people. ya i disagree with prolly 20% of the stuff he says, but he is alot more realistic on alot of issues than alot of ppl think. yes sometimes hes overdramatic and goes wayyy overboard, but sometimes he makes you think the flip side of the coin and put your thoughts into perspective.
