JPW Posted June 24, 2005 Report Posted June 24, 2005 You know you didnt do anything productive in the offseason when a 5th round tackle that looks to be a career backup is a "Major Addition"You know that you are Looking Real Hard, for ANY reason to dis the Team, when you Jump on the fact that a 5th rounder was included on a list, that he shouldn't have been on.And by the way ...You sure as hell know that you didn't Lose Any Production when your "Major Subtractions" are: Kyle Richardson; who had already lost his job to Kyle Larson last year.Dennis Weathersby; who, sad to say, never really had a job here.Kevin Hardy; who was no longer able to do the job.Tony Williams; who never could do the job."didnt do anything productive in the offseason"Really ?Seems to me that we added Three Blue-Chip Prospects, some Much Needed Depth at OC and an unspectacular but rather key free-agent.Other teams brought in more new players than we did, but them again, they also lost more than we did.On balance, with the possibly exception of the RatBirds, I think that the other teams in our division actually ended up with a net lost from this years FA market. The Bengals, on the other hand, were able to re-sign all of their own key free agents and to sign a new guy to fill in at DT.And while Robinson certainly isn't any superstar, at least he is an actual upgrade to the guy he is replacing. All and all, the Bengals have done Ok for themselves over this off season ...And it looks like they will be in good shape for next year's off season with no starters who will be unrestricted free agents. It looks like Peter Warrick will be the only one who might command a big contract and that is only if he has a break out year this season.Others who will be UFA next year:Jon KitnaKenny WatsonMatt SchobelTony StewartMarcus WilkinsThe Bengals should be in good position to be a bigger player in next years FA market IF that is what they Choose to do ... Okay...I missed this earlier, but I now have a NEW funniest post I've ever read! Dave (Joisey) I bow to your wit! NEVER have I seen sooo many members nailed to their respective crosses in my entire time at these hallowed pages called "Bengalszone!" You got me good. All Hail Joisey!!Happy? Good. Now run and get a nail puller would you? This smarts! BTW I'm trying to work a deal with Jimmy Swaggart for his Sunday morning time slot, but I'm coming up short in funding for crocodile tears and Penthouse magazines. Unfortunately for my home state of Kentucky I may have to cut back my bourbon budget to facilitate the deal. Awww forget that Jimbo! I can get the same time slot for 2/3rds the price from Oral Roberts provided I give up all guest appearances by Jesus Christ in any size over 500 feet tall. My agent Drew Rosenhaus (aka the talking snake from the garden of Eden) is currently in negotiations with his people! I honestly don't want to hold out like Jimmy did with the hooker. That was too weird. You paid the money. Stick it in already! Quote

Rimington over Marino Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 I know I want to be optimistic. I think we are capable of 12-4. This thread is full of optimism. Good things must happen everywhere. 1) Palmer must drastically cut down on INTs. He should the more comfortable he gets.2) Is Robinson a big improvement over T Williams and Langston Moore? All were late round draft picks. When did Robinson start before?3) I have to laugh when I read that anyone on the current Bengals is a good run stuffer. The run defense is pathetic, has been for years, and it wasn't all Hardy and Williams fault. When I see it, I will believe it.4) 2 rookie LBs, untested and unproven in the NFL, instantly make this a great defense. Again I want to see proof. I remember how it was turned around from the seasons before to the Super Bowl years. We do not have to improve that much. Last year if you turn around a play or 2 in the losses it is a completely better season. Just have to improve in all areas. Quote
