The Big Orange
Nice job Jak,I was there...my impressions were as follows...The good...Anthony Mitchell...don't be surprised if this guy starts at strong safety, absolutely deliciousChris Henry...he is the clear number 3...really, really, really bueno...I had to walk around with my jacket in front of my zipper to cover up the excitement I got watching him catch passes...if he doesn't get 500 yards this year, I'll eat a salad (you heard it here first)Jumpy Geathers...dropped back with speed into zone coverage??? of a tight end...took Schobul out of the picture...very, very niceReggie Myles...this guy is so ready to hit somebody on kickoff/punt coverage you could feel it, taste the blood in our opponents mouth...mmm, hurts so goodThe scary...Chad pulling up limp after a catch...he took a few catches off, but was back to normal catching againPeter is the most cut and muscular guy on this team. I thought he looked good and getting quick on his sideline...with his added bulk he will be a terror with Hines Wardish kind of blocker downfield and allow Rudi to get lots of long runs. The weird...Having Justin lining up on the otherside is going to take some getting used to as far as how it looks to me...just freaky-weird.Deltha Oneal...I think he was wearing number 8 for some reason, but a guy said his number 24 was on his helmet...this guy was (along with Madeiu-my god-son) the best athlete on D...he was all over the placeThe annointed...Our coaches looked so smart, sharp, confident, and besides the Trinity at the top of the pile...Hue Jackson looked especialy goodThe fast...Brousard looks like a middleschooler, but he is zippy...but if you throw the ball over 5 feet, then it will be 2 feet over his head...on the other hand Cliff looks to have lost a stepThe bad...Kelly Washington couldn't catch a tennis ball with velcro gloves...he was sorry...worse than Cockeron...The practice squad is too good for him...as he leaves don't even let him take any Bengals memorobiliaTab Perry, I realize he just got here, but somebody cut his hands off a put a couple of stones, he too can't catch anything...he's better be able to do miracles as a return guy...he was a pile of steaming poo poo today IMHOThe comfort...Our punter and kicker are so solid...I'd like to have seen Shayne kick some kickoffs, but I had to leave earlyA lot of our backups...K2, the 2 Moores, Keiwan, Anthony Mitchell, Kenny Watson...all looked so solidMy favorite guy to watch...Housch...he has such a great smile and presence, you have absolutely got to love this guy...you can tell he is glue for this team...Team MVP in 2005...Carson Palmer, better than Chad, Rudi, Willie, he looks like a top tier guy right now...wait and see

Sox
I wouldn't sweat Tab Perry looking bad.Everyone else has had the other camps, and he due to NCAA rules hasn't been able to attend or practice.

brooklyn_bengalfan
Thanks for the pics Jak, and the scouting Big O -- Just the kind of stuff we out-of-towners really appreciate getting from this board! :player:

The Big Orange
Thanks Brooklyn,Couple other thoughts...Bramlet looked bad...I think Haldi will really challenge him for that number 3 spotBraham and Willie didn't practice...not sure what that was about...I thought these guys clearedThe defense as a whole was a blur of speed...I tried to watch Odell and Pollack specifically but it was hard to stay focused on themPollack was all over and very physical (probably made the coaches a little nervous). By the time I located where he was lined up they were already into the play..he lines up everywhere in the boxBrad St. Louis never takes a play off...even in practice...every single one of his snaps were perfect...Larson could catch it with his eyes closedKhalid didn't look close to ready, I'll bet he's goneWe the quarterbacks took turns throwing into a barrel about 20 yards away, Kitna put 3 in for every one everybody else didYou can tell Thornton loves Robinson...he seems to be more at ease and confidentWhen the #2 D was playing against the #2 O, there was still a ton of talent on the field...Chris Henry, Keiwan, and Mitchell were the guys to watchNon-football observations...Tory James is tall in the world of DB'sMadieu is always joking aroundBrian Simmons has the longest neck...looks kinda like a bobble head dollKelly Washington is so slow that he can't get a step on any of our Strong SafetiesIf they took a water break and Chris Henry and Chad switched jerseys and kept their helmets on, no one could tell the differenceReggie Myles got in trouble for playing toss with a fan before practiceChad Johnson wore orange tight shorts and shoes, everybody else was all black and white (except helmets)The pro shop has better prices than Dick's or any sports or fan shops in the mall...and of course very nice selection with lots on clearance (good stuff), but not enough little girl size cheerleader outfits and hardly any posters...lots of nice 8 X 10's though-at only $5 a piece4 hotdogs, 1 nacho, 4 drinks...$
andybren
Interesting about P-Dub bulking up. One of the beat writers was saying last year (pre-injury) that the coaches really dig his blocking downfield, so maybe he figured out what he had to do to keep that job.My only disappointment...The Big Orange missed an opportunity for a good punchline.lots of nice 8 X 10's though-at only $5 a piece4 hotdogs, 1 nacho, 4 drinks...$34Crying tears of joy at the sight of a grown man in orange spandex...PRICELESS

Remember, not all members here live in the greater Cincinnati area, so you're doing us a great favor by posting them so we too can see what's going on in "Downtown Bengaldom!"
