IckeyShuffle
Just finished watching the show NFL Playbook on the NFL network and Solomon Wilcots just did some highlights on Marvin's young defensive studs. They showed footage of 1) Geathers splitting a double team, stringing out a run and making the tackle at the sideline. 2) Landon Johnson using his speed to avoid an inside blocker and make a tackle at the line of scrimmage solo.3) Solomon's favorite, Madieu coming off a corner blitz like a bat out of hell and disrupting a running play 4 yards in the backfield. They also mentioned that these 3 studs will be joined by 2 more, Thurman and Pollack. Bonehead award goes to in studio commentator Glenn Parker who said that Bryan Robinson didn't get it done last year on the inside because the Bengals were 26th against the run. Hey Moron, Bryan Robinson played for the Dolphins last year, we got him in free agency. Do your homework. Solomon immediately pointed out his blunder. Wilcots seemed genuinely excited about his old team. Who Dey.

JPW
One more of our young guys, who they should have shown a few highlights of, is Keiwan Ratliff. He put some BIG HITS on a few people last season ...

BengalszoneBilly
True so true this is marvins D. Im expecting a top ten D. Top ten would be an insanely incredible improvement from last season, which I honestly thought was an insult to Marvin Lewis, and his stout defensive legacy. Now wheather that changes this season with Fraziers departure, and Bresnahan taking over the duties remains to be seen.As to the defense improving to rank among the leagues top ten... ...well that would make me insanely happy! :player: Bonehead award goes to in studio commentator Glenn Parker who said that Bryan Robinson didn't get it done last year on the inside because the Bengals were 26th against the run. derekshank
Our defense is not going to be top ten. We'll be improved but not that much. We will have to continue winning games by outscoring other teams. Maybe when Pollack and Thurman have a year under their belt, and Madieu is a veteran we'll be top ten... but for now I will be really happy with middle of the pack rankings, because our offense will be above average (assuming Palmer is better than a middle of the pack QB).Also, I don't want to put all the blame on the defense last year... there were a couple games that Carson lost single handedly with bad interceptions... and that fumble against Tennessee killed me. But I'm still faithful... I believe he will be that late season Carson all year.
ShulaSteakhouse
I agree the defense won't be top 10 most likely - hard to improve "that" much in one year with rookies and 2nd year players. A first year starting QB is going to throw some INT's - a 2nd year starting QB is going to throw some bad INT's - Peyton Manning and Farve still throw a lot of INT's - if your defense can't get off the field then your offense can't score points.Palmer should be a top 5 QB next year and in the years to come, I'm not sure how many "middle of the pack" QB's put up the #'s he did in 14 games their first year as a starter. If Palmer has a solid running game and time to throw he'll pick the league apart with these WR's, just like he did against the Pats last year. The Big Orange
I watched the thing last night on NFL Network and Glenn Parker looked as dumb as a bag of hammers and as out of place as a fish with tits next to the smart Solomon Wilcots. He (Parker) is a part of the Bengal-hater media that makes me want to buy large quantities of fertilizer and make a road trip.Solomon can be a bit of a homer when it comes to the Bengals, and you can really see it in his commentating during the games I watched last year on NFL Ticket. That probably sets some of the other guys off, but just about everybody has favorite teams (especially if you played for them). But not all of them get invited to ML golf tourney as Solomon did. derekshank
I didn't see the program you are all talking about... I don't have the NFL network. But I agree with what Big Orange is saying. There seem to be only two categories when it come to opinions about the Bengals. You are either a homer (like Boomer and Solomon) or you are everybody else, waiting for the Bungles to show their heads again. The fact remains that the Bengals will probably be somewhere in between those two opinions, but if I am forced to choose one, I guess I'll be a homer. With that said... Our defense will be ranked #1 in all categories, and CP will be league MVP. (Chad will finish 2nd in the voting)! Who Dey?!! The Big Orange
Sure, what the hell...Madieu will decapitate Jamal Lewis on a clothes line tackle which he learned in Guana (refs don't even see it), Rudi will break Ray Lewis' sternum by running up the gut, We don't even play the Pats but Shayne Graham meets Corey Dillon in an alley after drinking at a bar and shoots his toes off with a .22, Carson rushes for more yards than Vick (who saw it coming), Jeremi Johnson turns out to be an awesome down field threat, all 3 of our TE quit for spiritual reasons and Antonio Gates asks if he can play for us for free, Chad Johnson plays Pittsburgh by himself and ends up winning in overtime,Stacey Andrews forgets himself and shot puts an injured Kellen Winslow over the field goal,Jumpy Geathers develops awesome flying tiger walk on air moves which enables him to get several sacks as a result of dating Tinkerbell,And T.J. Houschmenzadeh changes his name to A.J. Houschmenzadeh so people can pronounce his name better.Heck, I can be a homer with the best of them...that was kinda fun, letting myself go...try it out a little. bengal4life
ephing hilarious Big OrangeI agree with every statement, except for Antonio Gates, although he will be with the Bengal's midseason so will Gonzalez (we need at least 2 TE)And Pollak tells the rest of the team to take a game off against the Colts and he covers all 3 receivers and Edgerin not losing a breath of air. 7/11
good stuff orange...one more epipheral foresight- in the wake of a 121-2 squeaker over the brownies, marvin gives the team the next sunday off against the vikings as reward...daunte culpepper, confused by the seldom-seen scenario, takes a knee on every snap and the bengals continue their hot streak with a 4-0 victory. our 2-0 start paves the way for elite status, as we lead the league in offense, defense and stupidity-inducing playcalling. :player:
The Big Orange
Now that's what I call funny, Convenience Store Boy! I laughed until I dribble a bit in my whitie tighties. It's all good though, I was due for a change. You need to bring that game to the Forum more often!
