Spain Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 OK this Ds going to be much better but with all the raw talent there who will be the most dominant? I would have to say that J Smith going to LE is going to make the biggest splash. So Bengaldom who do you think will be are best defender? As a dark horse I would say Ratlif. I still remeber i the Buffalo game they were throwing at Tory thats respect for a rookie. Geathers also could have a great year along with M. Williams. So did I forget anyone? Tell me. Quote
7/11 Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 odell/landon or madieu...maybe even pollack Quote
Spain Posted June 3, 2005 Author Report Posted June 3, 2005 Dont mean to troll you 7-11 but could we stick to one and a dark horse. As far as Simmons I could see him having a great year but IMHO he is yesterdays news. Pollak you just cant tell how he is going to adjust. He seems to be doing great but Ill stick on the safe side with J Smith. Williams seems to be a great choice but the sophemore jinx could still get himIMHO. Quote
IckeyShuffle Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 im going to say Jim Skow at DE or Barney Bussey at SS. seriously though, I'll go with Simmons as the godfather to this emerging great young defense. Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 I think we are in for a pleasant surprise. Yes, Pollack and Williams will be strong. However, the playmaker this year will be none other than Robert Geathers. Quote

Spain Posted June 3, 2005 Author Report Posted June 3, 2005 Wow So many Simmons backers here ,I must be missing something IMHO the guy is above average linebacker nothing else. I also think that Geathers is a great talent but the right side is death to an ends stats however good they might be.IMHO Quote
chrishcovga Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 As long as we have a defense that finishes somewhere closer to the top 10 , i.e.# 12th against the run and 9th against the pass... I could honestly care less who our Defensive MVP will be. I just want to see 11 guys swarming to the ball on each occasion with the same abilities last year's squad had at forcing turnovers !! :player: Quote
TippCityRick Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 I'm gonna go with Simmons also due to his leadership and consistancy. My darkhorse(s) are Deltha due to his athletic abillity and Odell due to his fearce competitiveness. (I appologize profusely to Spain for the double take on darkhorses, but rules were made to be broken . . . ) Quote

I also think that Geathers is a great talent but the right side is death to an ends stats however good they might be.IMHO I am with you on Simmons. 100%.Ds MVP this year will be Justin Smith. Last year of contract, more help around him, a better spot for him on the other side of the D-line. He will be huge. Quote
bengalskyspy Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 Justin Smith as MVP, and Deltha O'neal as darkhorse. Quote
Kirkendall Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 What has Justin Smith done to convince anyone he could be a defensive MVP? Quote

NJ29 Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 I just want to see 11 guys swarming to the ball on each occasion with the same abilities last year's squad had at forcing turnovers !!I think that this year's team is a little bit faster. I think that this makes that possible. I think it was Bobby Bowden who said, "Speed is the equivelent of intensity." The faster everyone is to the ball, the tougher they appear. Quote
membengal Posted June 3, 2005 Report Posted June 3, 2005 What has Justin Smith done to convince anyone he could be a defensive MVP? I gave my reasons above for my suspicion that he is in a breakthrough spot, but here they are again:1. Contract drive (never underestimate this)2. The flipped spot on the D-line along with better personnel around him is going to free him up more. 12 sacks, near the lead league among D-linemen in tackles? Not nearly out of the question. And, really, it's not like he has been bad to this point in his career. He has been solid as hell, just not great. But I still think he can be, and the looming contract is sometimes the something that players respond to most readily. Quote
Spain Posted June 3, 2005 Author Report Posted June 3, 2005 My thinking exactly he should double his sack total on the left. He played right because he was the only one that could do it. Now there is more talent on this D he should have a monster year. Igf anoy one doubts you remeber retard got 9 sacks on that side. Also remeber that teams are going to be playing from behind this year he could have a 16 sack season IMHO. Quote
walshfan Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 you damn well better hope Bryan Robinson is right up there or this team will finish at .500 again! Quote
Rimington over Marino Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 I think it must be Thurman. Just because he is the MLB. If he has a large tackle total and the run defense vastly improves, MLB is the viewed as most responsible. Quote
Dieter Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 I agree with membengal, Justin Smith will have a great year. But my vote goes to Madeiu. Quote
