walzav29
At the team's May minicamp, Bengals QB Carson Palmer seemed to be more outwardly confident than he was a season ago, according to one Bengals observer. • CB Greg Brooks and DE Robert Geathers, both second-year players, were among those who stood out at Bengals minicamp. Brooks made some nice plays on the ball, while Geathers looks quicker than he did as a rookie.
Bobcat Bengal
Draftniks were saying that Brooks was a steal last year.He should have gone a lot earlier than he did.I expect him to play well this season with the opportunities he's given, much like Geathers did last year.Geathers lighter and quicker? Uh-oh....that's not a good sign for the rest of the division.
jrandom42
Actually, Geathers is heavier. He reported in at 283 lbs. I thought he was decently quick last season. If he's heavier AND significantly quicker, he has the potential of being the Bengals' answer to Dwight Freeney.

ShulaSteakhouse
Dwight Freeney? Seriously doubt it - but a Suggs type I would settle for, and think Geathers can be that type of pass rusher in addition to his instinctiveness and play making ability that impressed everyone last year so much - he seemed to disrupt things in the backfield when you least expected it and made big plays. Awesome, young, promising role player to have. Brooks is someone I'm looking forward to seeing in preseason, what an excellent addition he might be to Ratliff as far as young depth is concerned and adding to the much-needed stability of that position group here. Regardless of Brooks' size he was really impressive in college at the games I saw him play (vs. UC in particular against big WR's).People keep talking about the offense here and how it could open up a lot of eyes but the defense has some real potential over the next couple of seasons to become the type of unit Lewis is known for finally. bengalboy40
greg brooks was a killer in college...i'd like to finally see him play in the nfl, too. he tore up cincy somethin awful a few years ago.
LABengalsFan09
I'd like to see Geathers turn into Simeon Rice
bengalboomer7
Your right about the defense Shula, and we probably haven't discussed it enough. Marvin's missed a lot when it comes to Fa's but that happens to everyone, but his draft strategy has been solid. Just think of all the first and second and third year guys that will be making big contributions this yearDavid PollackLandon JohnsonMadieu WilliamsKeiwan RatliffRobert GeathersOdell ThurmanLangston MooreAnd we could go on and onI'm glad you brought that up Shula, when I think about our youth coming on on defense and combine tht with our continuity and big play ability on offense it makes me want to giggle like a little school girl with glee!! :player:

NJ29
David PollackLandon JohnsonMadieu WilliamsKeiwan RatliffRobert GeathersOdell ThurmanLangston MooreI really think that Madieu Williams is gonna be a pro bowl player. I dont know how to explain it, but there is just something about him that makes me think he's the next great Bengals safety. Looking back at last years draft, I didnt see another second round pick that had a better year than Madieu. He also played a lot better than a lot of frist round picks. I love the attitude that you see out of him on every play.
The_Next_Big_Thing
I totally agree with NJ29's take on Madieu. The other thing I love about him is that not only is he playing hard on every play, he'll do whatever it takes to do his part. Play corner? Sure, which side! Play Safety? Ok, do you want me to line up at strong or free? Want me to play special teams? Ok. Want a cheeseburger from McDonalds? Talk to CJ!
Section 310
The other part to this team no one seems to mention is the special teams. Lewis has a bunch of guys like Brooks, Ratliff, Abdullah, etc. who have the speed and athleticism to make the squad better. They also stabilized the kicking game with Graham. While they may not win many games for us, they certainly aren't going to be likethe goons who continually blew it a couple of years ago. Was there anything more frustrating than to watch other teams continually start drives at the 40 yard line??
The Big Orange
David PollackLandon JohnsonMadieu WilliamsKeiwan RatliffRobert GeathersOdell ThurmanLangston Moore On offense you can really see what the Marvin Lewis era will look like soon on all sides of the ball...Carson PalmerChris PerryChris HenryTab PerryBen WilkersonEric SteinbachEric GhiaciucAdam KieftStacy AndrewsKelly WashingtonNot all of these guys have done a whole lot and some are definately up and comers, but our talent on offense was higher. Marvin has talked about having different sets of guys at different stages and we have that on O. The only reason we don't have that on D yet is because injuries and lack of talent has forced these guys to have to play early. Soon we will have the talent depth we have on offense on D, too. NJ29
I'm looking out for Abdullah and Brooks this year on special teams. I think they were kind of forgotten after missing last year, especially Broks, but I think they can make and impact. On another note, doesn't a dislocated ankle (which Abdullah had) sound like one of the most painful things anybody could go through. Damn, that sounds like it free-king sucks.
