OK are scouts have been doing a great job so far, so lets take a look at some of the negative.

KW over Witten ,I remeber saying go witten here please. But the decided to go wr the rest is history.

JJ great first year, came in fat last year realy hurt the running game last year, till Brat took him out of the power O. Will his weight kill this guy? )if you havent noticed this go back and watch his rookie and sophemore year)

Chris Perry, book is still out but the B word is starting to come from the fans.

Kevin Hardy, big time bust

Thorton, Im a lil dissapointedIMHO

Bobbie Williams, not dominating should be replaced soon ,I hope.

Kim Herring, this guy doesnt rate band aid.

M. Askew, there are alot of rumors that weight might be getting to this guy and he is undermotivated. I know they are rumors but the guy didnt take the feild last year did he? Seemed to me every other rookie did.

Nate Webster, he held up for what 4 games now seems to be an after thought.

If you look at the track record on FAs , Im not sure I want anymore. If you look at the drafts alot of ? s there so we will see how it plays out but bad personal decisions have been made. Remember Bebgaldom this is an opinion.

I've been saying for a long time that you can't successfully build a team through FA. You have to get players that fit for what you do and the best way to do that is to draft your kind of guys. Hopefully(I hate making predictions cause they never seem to come true) The 8-8 Minnesota Vikings will prove me right after this year.

Just like every other team, the St. Lewis Bengals have had their share of hits and misses. Draft-wise, it's still too early to tell. There have been some underachievers, overachievers, and as-yet-nonachievers, but I don't think we have any clear busts or breakouts yet. (BTW Askew did get some playing time but got hurt and ended up on IR, IIRC).

In trades, things have been mixed. Trading down in the draft last year and taking Perry remains a questionable call. On the other hand, the swap for O'Neal looks like a winner.

In FA, I think things have gone about as well as could be expected given the front office's reluctance or inability (depending on who you believe) to play the "cash over cap" game. That pretty much eliminates any chance the team can compete for the upper-echelon FAs; instead they end up going after second-tier guys...and Marvin's choices have been pretty good. Yeah, Hardy didn't work out and neither Thornton nor Clemons has been dominant; Herring and Webster have been hurt, Beckett couldn't stay healthy (tho he was a good player when he was); Bobbie Williams has been OK, the various TEs signings nothing special. But all that said, the Bengals have had their best two years in more than a decade...immediately following their worst year ever. So I can't get too down on these guys, they haven't done that bad a job.

"KW over Witten ,I remeber saying go witten here please. But the decided to go wr the rest is history."

First of all, KW is not a bust yet. He is progressing along the normal path for a receiver, the 3rd year is normally the breakout year. Lets see what he can do this year before we call him a bust. Secondly, Witten had one good year, and he started. KW didn't start. No comparison here.

"JJ great first year, came in fat last year realy hurt the running game last year, till Brat took him out of the power O. Will his weight kill this guy? )if you havent noticed this go back and watch his rookie and sophemore year)"

JJ did come in out of shape, but I guarantee you it won't happen again. He's a good player, and calling him a bust when he had an average year last year, and a great first year is premature. Lets see how he does this year before we start shouting bust.

"Chris Perry, book is still out but the B word is starting to come from the fans."

GET OVER THIS ALREADY, THE DUDE WAS INJURED. Even if he never plays another down, when you are out because of injury, you aren't a bust. Lets see what he does on the field instead of in the infirmary before we call him a bust.

"Kevin Hardy, big time bust"

Hardy wasn't a bust. He wasn't a perfect fit, but he was switched from the outside to the inside and then back to the outside in a matter of 2 years. He was a good mentor for our young guys, and that alone makes him not a bust.

"Thorton, Im a lil dissapointed"

Not a bust, just no help inside. Quit begging to find the negative.

"Bobbie Williams, not dominating should be replaced soon ,I hope."

Williams IS a dominating RUN blocker. Lets just hope he improves his pass blocking.

"Kim Herring, this guy doesnt rate band aid."

Hard to tell when a guy is hurt, but you're smart enough apparently to know what they COULD have done without being injured.

"M. Askew, there are alot of rumors that weight might be getting to this guy and he is undermotivated. I know they are rumors but the guy didnt take the feild last year did he? Seemed to me every other rookie did."

Askew was freaking injured you dumb sack of rocks. The "rumors" are all in your head, and apparently fill it up completely.

"Nate Webster, he held up for what 4 games now seems to be an after thought."

Yeah, that's his fault. The number of injuries last season was an abberation, shocking and hurtful. Lets not judge him based on what he couldn't due because of injury. After all, TJ was out one whole season too, and look how he came back. Pdub was out all last season too. People want us to give him a chance. Webster has talent. When he recovers from his injury he will play again.

"If you look at the track record on FAs , Im not sure I want anymore. If you look at the drafts alot of ? s there so we will see how it plays out but bad personal decisions have been made. Remember Bebgaldom this is an opinion."

Yeah, get a few brain cells, use the spell check feature, and if you can't do ANYTHING else right, at least learn to spell BENGAL if you want to claim to be a fan.

Marvins Busts ............. ;)

I see what you're saying, but I don't know that you can look at it as that much of a black and white issue. Thing is that Coach Lewis took over a real crappy team and cut most of them. Now ... he HAD to get somebody, so he got the best players that were available at the time, AND that he could afford. Now some of them weren't great .. or even very good. Neither were some of the ones that he kept that first year either .... but he had to weed out the worst first, and work with the rest. Most of those were gone in the second year too tho.

Now we're seeing some of the guys he brought in getting a Thank You and a bus ticket because even tho they were better, they're still not good enough to get the Coach where he wants to go. ( SuperBowl ) They're leaving to make room for the guys who will be an upgrade over them .... It's kind of a ... rebuilding .... process. You want to kind of keep in mind tho that this is the Bengals we're talking about and not Polaroid ..... things aren't going to develop in 60 seconds.

We'll have a few surprises along the way .... good and bad, but everybody has pretty much climbed in from the window ledge and are actually getting optimistic about the team. B) But that's just me.

First guys there are too many good points to call you out by name. The one real ? here in my mind is would we have been better with Foley and Zo here. These guys were not asking much? I would like you to remember these are opinions of mine and that and 10 cents will get you some cofee, but mistakes have been made!

Foley doesn't fit the mold for the kind of linebackers Marvin is using. He wouldn't be worth a damn on our roster.
