walzav29
I was watching the Marvin Lewis In His Own words on the NFL network, and there was one scene where Chris Perry was running in practice. He had some great cuts, and looked really quick. I'm just grasping at straws, but it gave me hope.
alleycat
In your defense: I posted the exact same thing in another thread. Yeah, the clip really did look impressive and even though it is a straw, as you say, it showed that blend of shiftiness with forward explosion that rudi lacks. It definately got me excited, too! Ox
Just watch fellas, with posts like this one the Rudi haters will be coming soon.
bengalboy40
he's definitely quick, with great feet...it's a matter of whether he can do that live-action, reading his line and the defense...and he's gotta heal up. let's hope he's healthy and productive in his playing time...homeboy's got a lot to prove. DontPushMe
This is what ive known all along, and this is exactly why he will be starting ahead of RJ by midseason. He has the quickness and explosiveness that RJ lacks, is a receiving threat, AND he is bigger then johnson. RJ really has nothing on him except years in the league. HairOnFire
This is what ive known all along, and this is exactly why he will be starting ahead of RJ by midseason. The only way Perry gets the starting nod is if he's actually healthy the same week Rudi and Watson decide to go motorcycle riding in a parking lot. Either way, it's good to have depth at both RB spots. Maybe Perry pulls a Larry Johnson if he gets the chance.
HairOnFire
Either way, it's good to have depth at both RB spots. Exactly. Depth. Based upon any standard of measure...production, character, or paycheck...Rudi Johnson is the entrenched starter for this team and people better get used to the idea. As for the other guy, I've never doubted that Perry can still be a huge asset for this team as a complimentary role player if he gets his wheels under him. Beyond that, he's done nothing worth talking about besides being the subject of lust in countless offseason fantasies that never had a chance of becoming reality. As for DPM's most recent claim, I'm reminded that most of the kids who ride the short school bus do so because of their inability to learn. BengalszoneBilly
Maybe Perry pulls a Larry Johnson if he gets the chance. Just to be on the safe side, I'd avoid using the name "Perry" in reference to "pulling" anything in the same sentence.
WorldBFree
Sure Perry is bigger, faster and younger. But the one thing Rudi has on him is production. Until Perry can get on the field and make plays and until Rudi fails to produce, I can't see him losing very many carries.
DontPushMe
No, all Rudi Johnson has on him is years in the league. Its unfair to compare production of a 4 year vet to a guy going into his 2nd year. So we compare their rookie years for production, and Perry outperformed Rudi that year. Funny thing is, perry didnt have big numbers because he was injured, Johnson didnt simply because he wasnt good enough.

Rudi didn't have numbers his first year because he wasn't put on the field because he was backing up a running back who carried the team on his back. I know he was behind a living legend, but he also was behind brandon Bennett. Who still got quite a few carries that RJ could of taken if he was a better player. bengalindian
Rudi Johnson=4th roundChris Perry=1st roundIf you wanna compare stupid stats like rookie years, DPM, look at that. And stop comparing the two when there's nothing to compare. And get over CD, he's a cancer that's gone, but did help me out in fantasy last year. bengalindian
RETURN STATS YEAR TEAM G PR YDS TD FC LNG KR YDS TD FC LNG 2001 CIN 2 0 0 0 0 0 4 79 0 0 25 Those are his return stats for 2001. Thats a little more productive than 2 carries for 1 yard.
ArmyBengal
Funny how some will say to stop quoting stats and then turn around and quote stats to their liking.... Hmmmmm.... WHODEY !!!
DontPushMe
2 carries for 1 yard, you also forgot the 3 catches for 33 yards and 2 first downs. Sorry but ill take the 34 scrimmage yards and 2 first downs over 4 mediocre kick returns any day.btw, 19 yards per kick return isnt good at all. Cliff Russel averaged 22.4 this year, in his first season ever returning kicks, and a lot of fans want HIM replaced.
HairOnFire
I think DPM is a perfect example of a Huddles-style poster. That being, someone who constantly posts garbage just because it's almost guaranteed to get him noticed. It could be worse though. Just think about how stupid he'd have to be if he really believed the things he says.

Isn't it amazing how 5 plays producing 34 yards can convince a fugtard to write a couple hundred posts complaining about the guy who set the team rushing record? Rudi doesn't take Bennetts runs any more than Rudi takes Watson's runs. Both Corey and Rudi are 2 down backs, Watson and Bennett were 3rd down backs. Get a freakin clue.
