According to an 'Insider' article K Wash is one of only a few players who has NOT returned to Cincinnati for offseason workouts because he is not happy with his place on the team. If he continues to be a no show, especially when mini camps start we will have no choice but to cut the fool!!!!

What a moron

Um, wow. What a bad way to work harder to make yourself valuable, by not working.

ML didn't think a lot of TJ when he first got here, then TJ got hurt, then he worked his ass off, then he took advantage of his opporunity, then he got paid. What part of that equation does KW not understand?

Let me start by saying that the only thing we all know for sure is that the staff has decided to light another training camp fire for spots 3-6 at WR. This should not be suprising because they did much the same last year. I think the perception is that WR is naturally a position where competition helps and there are enough roster spots to keep a long-shot or 2 if they have a good upside. PDub is the big ? I don't have any information that anyone else doesn't already have and I'm just waiting to see what happens there. I assume it will happen right around 6/1/05 if it's going to happen.

As far as Perry - as a Bruin alum, I probably watch as many UCLA games a year as anybody on this board. Perry is a good pickup because he fits the multiple position mold that ML looks for. He is probably slotted to compete as a ST'er this camp and I see him primarily as a coverage and KR if he can win that job. Much like most college WR's, he did not play a lot of coverage before, but that is IMO how he will win a spot on this club. The guy definitely has catch receiving skills and my only knock on him would be that he disappears for periods of time during games. In that respect he's much like KDub. I do not think he is inherently better that KDub, but if he outworks him he could crack the receiver corps. I know everybody seems to like Walter -- and what's not to like really -- but Perry has a much greater upside. If he plays to his potential in camp he will steal Walter's spot because he can do a little more. Finally, I'm not sure where all the love for Walter comes from as a receiver. He does have pretty good hands, but there's gotta be a reason we only see him once a game. By that logic KDub is a lock because he catches TD's. I'm no huge fan of KDub, but I think Perry is basically the poor man's version of him. One of those 3 will not make the team and I tend to think the odd man out right now (admittedly before anybody has take a snap) would be Walter.

How do you know that Perry can do anything more than Walter? I agree we have not seen much of him but we have seen him make some key plays when he has had the opportunity. Also, I would say K-Dub is far from a lock when he has yet to show up and has made it clear he DOES NOT WANT TO BE ON THIS TEAM NEXT SEASON!!!! Do we really want to 'lock in' another Cory Dillon type attitude????

I've read about all these ideas for WR's but I was just wondering if you guys think that Jamall Broussard has no chance or if you guys forgot about him. I thought he was a heck of a player in pre-season. I believe he would be more valuable in returns and he has proven that he is a good return man because he was 8th last year in returns in the NFC for Carolina I think he has the elusiveness of a young Peter Warrick. IMO thanks

First, I have seen a lot more of Perry that I have seen of Walter. I would bet that I've seen a lot more of Perry than just about anybody has seen of Walter, for that matter. That's what I'm basing my opinion on. I have seen both players. What are you basing your opinion on? Second, how many times do I have to say that nobody knows diddly until they get in camp. My point is that Perry is competing directly for the same spot as Walter and I think he's probably a better player.

Third, I'm not saying KDub is a lock. You missed the point. What I'm saying is that if anybody thinks Walter is that great, they should also think KDub is the second coming because he catches a high percentage of TD's. If you read my post that you quoted, you'll see that I'm far from a fan of Washington. I think he dogs it, runs poor routes and only gets it up when he believes the ball is coming to him. Attitude aside, the guy is huge and fast and has tremendous upside (most of which we haven't seen yet).

I understand why Perry is a question mark to most people because they've probably never seen him play because he plays on the West coast. But don't think Walter is safe because I think he's got a big target on his back with this pick. Walter covers kicks and occasionally sees 3rd & long. Perry will cover kicks, return kicks and occasionally see 3rd & long. Perry is more versatile. I'm not dense enough to think that puts him in the lineup because he's still got to impress in camp and he's the new guy. Llike you, however, I want bang for the buck and I'm jockin my guy. May the best man win.

Showing up at all games would be a nice start for Wash if he wants more. Note to disgruntled athlete: There's a reason why you're not playing more.

All I know is that if they lose both K-dub and Pdub, they will be taking a step backwards with only two experienced starters. People easily forget what a LARGE role Pdub had Marvin's first season here. I understand that he could not recover 100%, but Pdub at 85-90% is probably better than some of the other potential receivers.

All I can say about the Wide receivers is that I want Peter Warrick back for the '05 season.

There was an aspect to our offense that was missing , especially in the season when he was out. I honestly couldn't make a vote against P-dub in favor of K-wash.

There were times last year when Kelley Washington just didn't work hard enough to get open, or worse ran his route right in front of Palmer, and didn't even pose himself as a target by looking for the ball !!

* Route Running is essential, and K-Wash has been extremely slow to develop in that area.

Peter Warrick does so much for this offense, returns, reverses, third down catches especially.

I just want one season, Just one, where I can see what a Healthy Carson Palmer can do with a Healthy Chad, T.J., and Warrick. Throw in a K- Washington , and rookie Chris Henry , and ------------ your name here..? plus an improved running game.

I'm thinking 6500 yards of offense. Cincy's first 4000 yard passer, First Quarterback to throw for more than 30 touchdowns, and the dream lives on.. ^_^

FWIW, there's a note in pfw's latest whispers column, citing an unnamed Bengals source, that Warrick will be on the roster -- if he's healthy. He claims to be, so I count him in for now. I'd add Chad and TJ as locks, and Henry and Washington as good bets. That leaves one slot...and right now I'd pencil in Tab Perry. Why? Well, they liked him enough to draft him, for one thing, and last year when they tried to stash their later-round (fifth, IIRC) WR pick Maurice Mann on the PS, he got signed by another team. So this time they keep their project close...and let Walter, Broussard, etc. go -- knowing that if they need them they're likely to be available.

I'm not going to rag on Warrick.. I hope he's healthy and can contribute this year.

I'm just telling you that a couple weeks ago a friend of mine watched him try and play basketball in a charity game and he was gimpy.. He limps when he walks!

I dont think he's going to be ready anytime soon regardless of the spin he's trying to put on his condition.. I think he's going to be released..

With Tj manning the slot position along with Cj and hopefully Henry as the wideouts this passing unit can be special with or without warrick..

Tab Perry can play the slot as well...

Why in the world would he try to play in a basketball game if he's still not healed???

Not that I'm accusing you or your friend of bad information...I just don't understand...

Broussard could make the team. I like him, but he's not an every down wideout, and even your 3rd and 4th string wideouts should be.

I did not see him play in that particular basketball game however I have heard from several credible sources that p dub can barley walk, he is clearly limping. I do not think there is any way he will be ready to play any time soon. And if there is a slight chane he will be I do not think its a multi-million dollar chance we are willing take!!!! We also have to keep in mind that coaches, team personell, etc. are not exactly forthcoming with information regarding the status of certain questionable players. Last season before p dub was put on IR press releases assured us that he was fine- ok if a cracked fibula is fine!!!!

And what is up with the Bengal's medical staff.  Is it me or did they not misdiagnose Perry's and P-dub's injuries?  And didn't it take Braham an inordinate amount of time to be cleared?

I think that's a result of the team's position to keep everything in house and quiet. <_< Hell, they didn't let Hobs know Rudi was signed until the next day!!

So to keep the masses happy with info regarding injury, they release something when in fact it's 5 times worse. New rule of thumb, if someone is injuried, always downgrade them one more than the team leads us to believe.

You would think if they had Warrick's injury correct from the beginning, no way do they let him play Monday Night.

who knows what they are thinking...On draft day we all asked the same question- WHY THE HELL DID WE DRAFT NOT ONE BUT 2 RECEIVERS!!!! I just think they are fairly certain of p dubz condition as well as k wash's plans to not return and that is why 2 receivers were drafted.

I gotta agree with the med staff concerns. We had beaucoup injuries last year and a couple appalling misdiagnoses (Warrick, Perry). Had they nailed Perry's hernia to start with, he would have been available for the second half of the season. Instead we got nada. And I've heard absolutely nothing about them reviewing their program. Hopefully they have and just haven't publicized it. The bottom line is the team can't afford to have the same crap happen again this season if they want to win.

As for drafting 2 WRs, think on this:

1) Marvin said publicly he wants another speed receiver to complement Chad. Does Warrick, TJ, or Washington meet that criteria? Not on this team! Hence, the Bengals pick Chris Henry in the 3rd round.

2) Marvin also has said that he wants more production out of punt and kickoff returns. Hence, the Bengals pick Tab Perry, (UCLA's all time punt return and kickoff return yardage record holder) in the 6th round.
