WhoDey
Why did we draft 2 WRs? The only way this makes sense is if P-Dubz and K-Dubz are on their way out. Right now we have 10 receivers on the roster. My prediction is that the final 5/6 will be:ChadTJ(Maybe P-Dubz)(Maybe K-Dubz)Kevin WalterChris HenryPS-Tab PerryAny opinions? brian5562
Chad, TJ, PW(if healthy) are locks. I think the other 3 will be Henry, Kelly Wash, and Perry. Walter and Russell will be the odd men out.

WhoDey
why would you choose perry over walter and russell...and what makes you think kw and pw will both be around this fall?
membengal
Way too early to worry about this, IMO, but you all are being awfully quick to throw away Walter. He is a special teams demon. I don't think he is necessarily the first one out of town.I do think they drafted Perry to beat out Russell.
bengalsfan33
I'd think that we'd cut the scrub receivers such as Walter and Russell before Warrick and Washington, but I honestly think the Perry kid will make the team as our kick returner. So we'll have 5 WR's with Perry coming in at some times.JohnsonHoushWarrickHenryWashingtonPerry
turnip
That was just my guess...If P-dub shows he can still play, he won't be cut. K-dub will be pushed but I believe he will still make it. Henry will make the team which leaves Perry, Walter, and Russel. Perry will be given every chance to win the last slot and I'm predicting he will. I would not be upset if Walter made the team instead.
WhoDey
I just dont understand why everyone seems to think that Perry will definately make the team just because he was a draft pick? He barley played in college and does not seem to be the brightest kid- these guys do need to have SOME brains!

He barley played in college and does not seem to be the brightest kid- these guys do need to have SOME brains! His parents went to Stanford, he is far from stupid, but did a dog stupid thing with the plagarism. Interstingly enough, from reading the transcript of his press conference, he was up front about and owned the stupid decision he made. Further, he apparently worked his ass off to get back on the team. At 6'2" and 230 pounds with 4.45 speed, if that is accurate, he will be hard to keep off the team, particularly is he is indeed a guy with a knack for the return game.Look, I think something will have to give between now and the middle of August in terms of cuts. I think Washington is on some kind of notice, and hard to imagine they feel great about Warrick's recovery. You never know.Again, real early to worry about this. brian5562
Perry is intriguing because of his size, as well Coach Simmons has said he thinks he can cover kicks which means if he can then he not only takes Russell's place as a returner but Watler's as a gunner. Did this guy even play special teams in college? I'm sorry I just don't see what makes him more valuable than Russell or Walter...is it because he is a draft pick? If I'm not mistaken they were draft picks too...

What can Walter do that is so special besides cover punts? I agree, we have not seen much of Walter aside from special teams, but the few times we have seen him on offense he has made some key plays. The truth is this guy has not had much of an opportunity to show us what he can do. But we don't know what Perry can do either. I guess my question is when we have seen little of Walter and less of Perry why are you assuming Perry is a better player to have on our team. brian5562
that is a good question. It will all be decided in camp anyway. I was just answering the question to why we drafted 2 wide outs and who I think will make it. I just think Perry can bring more to the table then both Walter and Russell. That's all. I think hes got something special to contribute to this team other than special teams if we just give him a shot...
HoosierCat
FWIW, there's a note in pfw's latest whispers column, citing an unnamed Bengals source, that Warrick will be on the roster -- if he's healthy. He claims to be, so I count him in for now. I'd add Chad and TJ as locks, and Henry and Washington as good bets. That leaves one slot...and right now I'd pencil in Tab Perry. Why? Well, they liked him enough to draft him, for one thing, and last year when they tried to stash their later-round (fifth, IIRC) WR pick Maurice Mann on the PS, he got signed by another team. So this time they keep their project close...and let Walter, Broussard, etc. go -- knowing that if they need them they're likely to be available. I guess my question is when we have seen little of Walter and less of Perry why are you assuming Perry is a better player to have on our team.I think it comes down to upside. Walter will never be anything more than a special teams worker bee and a last resort #5/6 WR. Perry on the other hand has the ability to play on coverage teams and return kicks. Plus Perry could develop into a #3 WR. That will never be the case with Walter. But who really cares right now. It's just fun to be able to talk about the Bengals and know that we have 8 quality guys competing for 6 spots. That's better than the old days when we had 2-3 good guys plus Westbrook and Dugans. This year we can't go wrong. I can't wait for August!!
schweinhart
Walter won't lay down for nobody. And he did show some receiving skills when he got the chance. Add the world famous J-Cock to the WR list w/ Broussard, the rooks, and the mainstays and you got a highly competitive atmosphere that should make all of them more energized to get the most out of their abilities. And in response to another post I wouldn't be so sure that P-Dubz is fully recovered and that he will be on this team in the fall. He has not been healthy for 2 seasons dispite what reports have said- what makes anyone think now he is finally healthy. The guy is obviously injury prone and counts against the cap. As far as K Wash is concerned, from what I understand he does not want to be on this team and will not be on this team if he can help it. So I wouldnt lock them in. Perry will make the PS at best- what in the world do ya'll see in him thats so great.

Ha, for one thing, unlike these alleged remarks about Squirrely not wanting to be here.....PERRY DOES.He's from here and excited to play.Lackluster, not giving a f**k attitude vs I'm playing in my hometown, let's get it crunk attitudeYou choose.Where did you hear this about Squirrely?I think you're just making up s**t.Washington is out of his mind if he doesn't want to play for us.I'd like to hear 1 good reason why not. BENGAL
I'll tell you why not- K Wash was #3 after Chad and P Dubz. With P Dubz injured he was basically #2. Resigning TJ (who is now #2) pushes K Wash to 3 or even 4!!!! He apparently thinks he can be 1 or 2 on another team. I'm sure drafting a WR in the 3rd round pissed him off even more. What would I make s**t up???? I want the best players here just as much as the next guy. Bgal
I would rather see KWash get cut than Walter. I have this weird appreciation of Walter for some reason. It just seems like he always comes from outta no where to make a clutch play. It's not very often, but still, I like him.

Amen to that!Last season, Kelley Washington should have watched a little Survivor....He was Outplayed, Outwitted, and Outlasted! Ok, mostly outplayed by a guy who did a full year of rehab after recovering from an injury and a severe case of kick return related fumblitis! WhoDey
According to an 'Insider' article K Wash is one of only a few players who has NOT returned to Cincinnati for offseason workouts because he is not happy with his place on the team. If he continues to be a no show, especially when mini camps start we will have no choice but to cut the fool!!!!
