alleycat Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Just some first thoughts...SSJ. ButlerShazorBrandon BrownerJammal Brimmer (last few might be slow, but...)TEAdam Bergen, LehighCBen WilkersonOT/GMichael MunozLooks like ML and company have a lot more confidence in the DT's than we thought. God know's, there's not a lot of talent left out there (skipping CJ Mosley for Tab Perry still has me scratching my head)... Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 http://www.gbnreport.com/bigboardfreagents.htmlOK, fellas, go sign Shazor and Wilkerson! Quote
brooklyn_bengalfan Posted April 24, 2005 Report Posted April 24, 2005 Would love to see them grab Shazor ASAP. Good thing they didn't listen to the advice here and take him in like the 4th round huh? Quote
alleycat Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 Anyone know how this process works? I mean, can you offer to pay a FA more money than another team or is it a set price and it's just a question of their agents thinking the fit is good and our team making the best pitch? Quote

turnip Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Re: the Shazor trainIs it any faster than Shazor?Because he is apparently slow as molasses... I agree, he isn't really a good fit...I like Browner though personally. Quote
chrishcovga Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 With the guys we could bring in here as college Free agents, it might be comparable to the draft we just had !! Game film doesn't lie, many of these players were given first round grades, and now we actually have to wait on who the players think gives them the best chance on making a team.Cincinnati can recruit, but in reality, a college undrafted free agent decides where he is going, not the team he goes to! So here's hoping that Earnest ShazorJames ButlerJunior RosegreenBen WilkersonLiam EzekialLamont ReidLorenzo AlexanderArrion DixonRyan Grant - and a sh*t load of tight endsall come a'knockin' ! :player: Quote

chrishcovga Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I'm confused. Are you saying that every team in the NFL screwed up by not picking these guys? Yes ! , but I don't care about the other 31 teams, I care about one team, and how we use the draft to help us move past two VERY established teams in Baltimore and Pittsburgh so that we can win the division, go to the playoffs, win the superbowl etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.The draft is already a crap shoot, I'd rather take my chances on guys that have had high grades ( draftable grades ) throughout the whole process, than projected " backups " You field the best team that you can, so why can't a college all american be a backup as well..?? HairOnFire Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 With the guys we could bring in here as college Free agents, it might be comparable to the draft we just had !! Madness. Quote
jamesbrooks21 Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Junior Rosegreen is the one to go after not Shazor Quote
combatbengal Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I'm a die hard Bengal fan but not to bust your bubble. We cna't get established players to come to Cincy, what makes you think any of these guys will want ot play for us? We tried to get Sapp last year with no success. We tried to get guys this year with no success. I hope somebody comes in and helps us get to the palyoffs, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Why in the word did we pick 2 WR? Good lord! Quote
kevnz Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 You can sign them now. and they will go to the teams that have the higher needs. So the Bengals are a very attractive destination for a undrafted safety or tight end, but I have a feeling that D and O-linemen, linebackers and wr's will avoid us because of the depth that we already have there (except at center) Quote
BersMrnsT Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 I'd be quite happy to see any combination of Wilkerson/Shazor/Brimmer Quote
chrishcovga Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 If Shazor, Brimmer, Wilkerson, Butler, etc. can't hack it , then fine, I'm more than happy with that, but not giving the quality of player that they were the opportunity to make us better here, THATs' MADNESS ! :player: Quote

He would be a great kick returner. Quote
HairOnFire Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 The first three undrafted free agents have been signed. FS Patrick Body or Toledo is the most interesting of the bunch. Also signed were OT Steve Viera of UCLA and yet another big WR Sale Key of Idaho State. Quote
turnip Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Never heard of any of these guys...I'm sure it's no coincidence that Key comes from ML's alma mater. Quote
HairOnFire Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Pretty sure Patrick Body was one of the players brought in for a pre-draft visit. I remember hearing some of the names and thinking at the time that quite a few were likely to be undrafted free agents. Body is said to be a pretty exceptional athlete with very good speed. Very well put together...as his name might imply.(6-2, 205) Quote
HairOnFire Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 A little more info on Patrick Body. Make sure you're sitting down. Worked out for 3 NFL teams, including the Bengals, and was clocked in the 40 at 4.31. (Has previously been clocked as low as 4.26.) Vertical leap of 42.9" Lifted 14 reps @225 38 starts. 1st team ALL MAC as a senior. Played sparingly as a freshman and sophmore at WLB. Switched to FS full time mid point of sophmore season to take better advantage of coverage skills. Possible reason he wasn't drafted? He broke a bone in his right arm during a bowl game on Dec.27th. As a result he wasn't invited to the combine. Quote
