BeyondTheJungle
Ravens | Contact Bengals About Trading Up, Eyeing Oklahoma's Brown - from www.KFFL.comSat, 23 Apr 2005 05:49:53 -0700Jamison Hensley, of the Baltimore Sun, reports a league source has said the Baltimore Ravens have spoken to the Cincinnati Bengals about trading up in the first round of the NFL draft to select Oklahoma OT Jammal Brown. If Brown were still available at the Bengals' No. 17 overall spot, the Ravens would seriously consider trading their first- and third-round picks (the No. 22 and No. 84 overall selections) to grab the highest-rated lineman on their draft board, according to the source.I HATE this idea. I hate trading with teams in the division. But it might be a move we have to make. Consider this, we'd be happy with 2-3 different guys at #17 and we're pretty sure at least one will still be there at #22. Then we can either be stubborn and not trade with Baltimore OR we can make the trade, get an extra pick, and still get a guy we like at 22. If we don't do it, then the Ravens will just trade with the team at 18 and still get their guy. Of course this all assumes they aren't trying to get a guy that we want. HoosierCat
Wasn't Brown the same guy the Hags were supposedly interested in trading with us to get? No, if there's any validity to this at all, this is great news. It suggests that there is not only interest in, but competition for, the No. 17 slot. So maybe we get an extra day 2 pick out of the team who really wants 17 bad...?We'll see.
