ShulaSteakhouse
I am stumped on who to take at #17, none of these guys seem to be complete, well-rounded players who are no-miss types. The upside of Davis as an OLB is exciting - a 4.6 230 pd. guy with enormous potential might be hard to pass-up - but the Saints may grab him first. He may need some time though to become a starter there, not sure, it's somewhat risky, he seems to be too big/slow for a safety even who will be asked to cover people at times. Then you have Clayton to consider if he's there (but I'd just assume keep Warrick if the Bengals' know more about his knee situation than we do and they are confident he'll return 100%). If Warrick can overcome his injury he is still a better player than Clayton will be IMO.So it comes down to possibly Pollack or Cody if they don't trade down. Obviously Pollack is the more complete player as a down-lineman but I can't deny the upside of Cody who could be a beast of a DE and be a 10 sack a year type, and who has faced the best of the best in college and has had success, with some great games to boot. His sack #'s last year (6) concern me though, but his motor and his speed don't.Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow and draw our own conclusions then. There's just no way to predict what would/could happen right now at all.

LOL If I wanted a cokebaby, I'd pick one up in Over the Rhine!Seriously, We need better backups on our Oline, and Munoz fits the bill. I don't think Wilson would be there in round 5 anyway. bengalindian
LOL If I wanted a cokebaby, I'd pick one up in Over the Rhine!HA. I think that Munoz would be a great pickup in that he knows what it takes to succeed in the NFL. However, I don't know that he'll be comfortable knowing that he'll have to follow in the same footsteps as his father. Also, I wouldn't mind the Bengals picking up Stanley Wilson, Jr. if he's there in the 3rd, because I've heard some great things about him. The_Next_Big_Thing
HA. I think that Munoz would be a great pickup in that he knows what it takes to succeed in the NFL. However, I don't know that he'll be comfortable knowing that he'll have to follow in the same footsteps as his father. No matter what team he goes to he will still be "following in the same footsteps as his father". His father is a Hall of Famer. No matter what team he goes to, and even if he wasn't Anthony Munoz's son, he would be compared to him. There's no real negative here. On the other hand, there is the positive that he knows what's expected in the NFL, he has a father that will coach him individually that knows what he is talking about. His family is a part of the city, and he likes it here.

The_Next_Big_Thing
What is this bulls**t of "if Marvin chooses" "if Mike Brown chooses"?GET OVER IT. Guess what, Mike Brown AND Marvin Lewis chose everyone last year..... Mike Brown makes the final decision, and it is what Marvin Lewis tells him to do. kingwilly
TNBT-Easy does it killer. The statement is a light-hearted sarcastic stab at the pathetic job of running this club that MB has done until ML arrived and was given more control. Mike Brown has an undisputed history of FAILED/Joke-ish 1st round picks. ML does not. ML has latitude that has never been afforded of a previous coach under MB. Since it has been maintained that ML does not defer to MB for picks, learn how to pick up on some sarcasm...Oh BTW it's Friday, take it easy. I guess so since he gave them an opportunity to work for him.....\Or, more likely, Mike Brown chose yes men for his jobs in the past and probably always will to an extent. Lewis puts up with the crap because he has to, he wanted the opportunity and wasn't given it elsewhere, but I'm sure he is more vocal and independent/back-boned than the previous stooges. That said I wouldn't be suprised a bit that if Lewis has a good/great year, or two, and is offered big $ to go elsewhere, he'll be out of here in a NY minute. Please!! Don't evenTHINK it!!Cincy needs a solid coach to hang a while. At least as long Wyche. Preferably as long as Cowher has been with the Steelers. Hate him if you want because of the division rivalry or whatever, but overall he's a pretty good coach, and he loves his job in Pittsburgh.I'd like to see Marvin Lewis become the same type football icon here in Cincinnati. :player: STABILITY. jjakq27
1. Thomas Davis SS2. Chris Spencer C3. Atiyyah Ellison DT4. Michael Munoz OT (Will convert to Guard in NFL and be successful)5. Adam Bergen TE6. JR Russell WR7. Brady Poppinga DEOr, you could put Stanley Wilson, Jr. in the 5th and make it a former Bengals' children Draft! Kinda like the 80s and the Big Red Machine kids making the bigs. Guys like Brian McRae, Ken Griffey Jr., Lee May Jr., Pete Jr., Eduardo Perez and Tommy Helms Jr. getting opportunities.Dave Lapham and Jerry Jones of the Drug Store List were on with Lance McAlister at 5pm reviewing the various scenarios. Here are a few items of interest:They will not trade up. There are too many guys of similar talents to separate from each other. They might trade down with Dallas, Seattle or Philly. They both suspected that if Thomas Davis is gone they will take David Pollack. They had some great things to say about Mark Clayton but Lap thought he wasn't worth the 17th while Jones thought he would go right after that.Lap was worried the the Steelers might take Matt Jones since they like those kind of multitalented guys like Slash, Randle-El and Ward.Jones said that Aaron Rodgers from Cal might drop into the 20s if he doesn't go right away which they are concerned about .Lap said he looked at some tapes and that ML was correct in saying that the DTs were not to blame for the poor run defense. He said this defense is designed to push the run to the outside and that the contain guys or safeties on the edge were unable to make the tackles when necessary. There were a couple of safeties from Oklahoma that Dave raved about.Pretty good stuff. Just listening to Dave got me fired up for some real play-by-play calls.

Hey, good luck with that. The way some of you guys worry about everything, including what might happen after a little success, makes me wonder if some of you wouldn't be happier if you finally stepped off of the ledge. Just pick out which car you want to land on...step forward...and set yourselves free. (Helpful Hint: Try aiming for a Chevy Lumina.)

Sportboy86
1. David Pollack-DE-Georgia (Alternates: Thomas Davis--should he fall, or anyone Marvin likes. "In Marvin We Trust")2. Chris Spencer-C-Ole Miss (Alternate pick: Alex Smith-TE-Stanford)3. Donte Nicholson-S-Oklahoma (I doubt he falls. Other safety option: James Sanders of Fresno State)4. Kick Returner Pick: Courtney Roby of Indiana or Airese Currie of Clemson. Both are Wide Receivers that run in the 4.33-4.35 range and return kicks.I haven't put much thought into the later rounds.
