joseph
It's been a tough year to try and decipher who, if I was in the Bengals draft room, to draft this year. It seems that Spears would be the one with the most potential, but I really just not too hot on how he sounds deamenor wise. It really comes down to how good the coaches feel they can get him to live up to his potential. Thomas Davis sounds like he'd be a good fit, but he could be a liability in coverage so I've cooled on him a tid bit. Williamson sounds like he could be end up being a heck of a WR, but I just don't think he can come in and make enough of an impact this year to warrant taking at 17. The most you could really expect of him as a rookie WR is 35 catches 400 yards and a few TD''s probably. Plus it would sign the end of PW and it might impede the progress of Kelly Washington who is coming into his 3rd year when the light starts to come on for a lot of WR. Just look at Marvin Harrison first couple years in the league when he was considered a bust. I just don't think he can come in and make enough of an impact in such a crucial year when the Bengals have to make the playoffs. So in conclusion and with great consideration to the players talent and the extra value that can be added in getting extra draft picks by trading down to get the player, I've settled on the pride of the Fighting Irish Justin Tuck. I personally rank him as the best pass rusher in the draft (above Merriman and who ever else). He sounds as though he has a great deamnor to go along with his immense physicall skills. I be the first to admit that I have little to go on than what I read through interviews, measurements from his pro day, and statistics from his career. I'd also be the first to say that immense scrutiny should be placed on how he injured his knee. Was it a freak accident, or did he blow it out trying to turn the corner on the pass rush. There's a major difference in the two and the latter would be considered a red flag type injury. Plus I would do some major research on whether I felt comfortable that he could play rush LB in 3-4 scheme. It's really a call that impossible to make without game film. Anywho, that's my guy! So considering these factors and with a little stretch of the imagination:) My ultimate Bengals draft would be as follows.Pick 17 if Spears or Davis or Williamson is here you have to put major consideration into drafting one of them and you have to get good value to trade out. For the purpose of making my draft plan work:) The Rams offer there 1st round pick at 24 and there two 3rd round picks to move up to take an OT. Pick 24 It's risky and there's a big chance that the move could blow up, but it's my fantasy draft so of course it will work:) So obviously the Bengals trade down again with the Eagles for there first round pick and another 3rd/4th round pick. So basically in my SUPER DRAFT the Bengals pick up 3 extra 3rd round picksPick 31 Bengals select Justin Tuck: If they are looking to play some 3-4 alignments, then you couldn't ask for a better player to play rush OLB. He can come in and make an instant impact rushing the passer. And has long term potential to be a true impact player.Round 2: Attaja Hawthorne DTRound 3 Donte Nicholson SRound 3 Terence Murphy WR/KRRound 3 Bill Swancutt DERound 3 Jason Brown/ Ben Wilkerson CRound 4 Rian Wallace ILBRound 5 Adam Snyder OGRound 6 Maurice Clarett RBRound 7 Tim Buhlman DTThen the Benglas go 16-0 in regular season and go on to win Super Bowl and become greatest team in NFL history:)
joseph
DAMN!!! I knew it had to be too good to be true. I got some bunk azz info on where the Rams were picking in the 1st round. Totally shaters my projections. Back to the drawling board:)

Totally shaters my projections. Relax, I doubt anybody takes these things seriously. The trade idea with the Rams is interesting and there may be some meat on that bone. Lawrence McCutcheon, the Rams directer of player personel, was just on Total Access talking about what they're looking for at #19. The two positions he mentioned were offensive line and safety and he quickly added that the Rams hope to move back if they can find a partner. However, he got my attention when he said that the Rams would consider moving up "one or two spots" for the right player.

Especially with the known penchant Marvin Lewis has for trading down and stock piling picks along the way.the Bengals have to make the playoffs.I believe they will win the division this year, but...who said this and why do they say this? What happens if they don't?Round 6 Maurice Clarett RBIf this does come to pass, from that point on I will have no idea whatsoever in regards to the kind of person/player Coach Lewis is looking to play for him anymore. At this time I just don't see Marvin Lewis liking a whole lot of things about Maurice's decision making, and simply too many other questions about how his attitude and personality would mesh on the field and in the locker room with the other players. Then the Benglas go 16-0 in regular season and go on to win Super Bowl and become greatest team in NFL history. Well nobody can say your dreams suck, that's for certain. What they could say is they lack any basis in reality, but who really cares what they say? Screw reality! My personal experience has demonstrated the fact that "reality" can lean a bit towards the "sucky" side anyway. How else do you account for 14 straight years of no playoffs. Know what I mean? Relax, I doubt anybody takes these things seriously.Hairy...Mel Kiper just called, and he's a little bit pissed. It seems when he read your comment about nobody taking the draft seriously, he s**t his pants!

Whur CHad At?
4 3rd round picks. DO you not understand that most of these players we draft won't make the team!!!!!!! We want an extra pick yes, but not a huge abundance of picks of players who will get cut. Thats just worthless.
chrishcovga
4 3rd round picks. DO you not understand that most of these players we draft won't make the team!!!!!!! We want an extra pick yes, but not a huge abundance of picks of players who will get cut. Thats just worthless. Very seldom does a first day pick ever get cut. 3rd round picks and first round picks are usually only separated by injury, off the field problems, or poor 40' times.Lamont Thompson was cut by Marvin Lewis, cause he was always late to practice, meetings, and played embarrisingly during training camp. But to say the least, he was a rare-ity.Other guys just simply bust out, products of poor scouting, drafty analysis etc. etc. But consider this years' draft crop. - The real value to this years' players are going to be in the middle rounds. 3rd rounders will become starters probably just as fast as most of the first rounders. Look at a guy like Earnest Shazor, he was a consensus first rounder as the post college/ pre draft season started. Then he can't run a '40 ( even at his pro day ) faster than 4.68 which sends up smoke signals all around the league. Now it's very doubtful that he even makes it into the second round. In reality, Cincy should trade down, and probably will at least twice unless it's the Philly trade . Teams are going to want to get in front of Cincy' for either the DE's or the offensive tackles. A wide receiver or running back dropping offers the best trade down scenarios though. #85MVP
IF we end up trading for the 31st pick Odell Thurman will be a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, I'd have no doubt about it.
Bobcat Bengal
IF we end up trading for the 31st pick Odell Thurman will be a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, I'd have no doubt about it. Even better, we get him in the second round to team up with his fellow Bulldog.
